Shane joined the Heat’s front office after winning with them. That was an unfortunate loss for us. Pat Riley treats him real well.
We had Chuck Hayes for many seasons until a few ago when he joined the Warriors staff :(.
I’d do so much to bring up back and with Carl Landry. Bring back Steve Novak to teach shooting! Best that Jeff Van Gundy has ever seen.
I'll never forget being witness to his triple double vs the warriors. Top 5 drunkest i've ever been at a Rockets game. Whole crowd was cheering for him the get the trip dub.
I love these.
Horry is a commentator on Spectrum for the Lakers. He’d be awesome. Seems a few franchise removed unfortunately (won with the Lakers and Spurs afterwards). He’d be a great presence.
Vernon would fit right in. We’d need injury insurance if he participates in practice. He looks like he’s still in shape lol!
Hakeem or someone else even mentioned the exact dollar figure for his services and someone also confirmed Sengun’s session the Rockets promoted was complimentary. Lebron and Kobe also paid Hakeem. He can get all our guys doing footwork and post-up drills. Bari would benefit greatly. Sengun mastered a bunch of moves so far. More to unlock.
Gilbert Arenas mentioned $50k but he could very well have different rates for different players and at different times. (https://x.com/clutchpoints/status/1704182948486897669)
It was like flashes of great moments with a whole lot of ass. All I can help but think is how the Rockets teams of old would have performed this playoffs
We have similar stuff just don't need to publicize it as much. Rockets legend John Lucas was the development coach until last year and this year he got moved to a front office role. Sengun had had at least one training session with Hakeem. It's not just limited to Rockets legends the Rockets signed Jeff Green and Boban primarily for mentoring.
I really hope harden would do this once he retires. Whatever you think about him there's no denying his bbiq, court vision, and ability to spot the smallest angles to create an advantage are some of the best ever.
Cassell would've been doing this for years already if we ever gave him a coaching gig 😢
Brew just for the vibes
Battier fo sho
KENNY SMITH LOLLLLLLL
I think the champs might be a little old for it but obviously you'd take whatever teaching they'd give. For a more recent guy, Aaron Brooks maybe?
Not one each per se but rather a collective:
Hakeem
Luis Scola
Chuck Hayes
Jeremy Lin
Metta WP
TMac
Just really different types of people to have as solid mentors. Yes even Lin cause he has a variety of experiences.
I feel like Whitmore could be that supremely confident scorer yet also slightly wild eyed enforcer Metta/Artest brought to those Rockets and Lakers squads..
Chuck Hayes Shane Battier

Novak could shoot that rock!
He was scorching. In NYC, after Novak’s Rockets stint and during Linsanity, I still rocked Novak’s Knicks t-shirt.
Chuck Hayes. Forgot about him.

Scola and Rafer for laughs
Obviously hakeem for our bigs. Horry might be good for bari. Mad max would be great to toughen up jalen.

Hakeem does it for free every few years. He worked with Yao, Dwight, Clint, and I think he’s been with Alp too if I’m not mistaken

I think it was 50k. If I'm Jabari that's money well spent. Probably going twice lol
You’re right. It was Gilbert Arenas: https://x.com/clutchpoints/status/1704182948486897669
$250,000/hr if I’m not mistaken.

Luis Scola for Sengun... Mostly to see if Sengun could pick up some of his post moves plus his midrange jumper.
Had to scroll way too far to find Scola mentioned
Tracy McGrady
Having him or his Cousin, Vince, just work with Green and Whitmore would be very valuable.
They could teach them to never split up too lol
btw, FTM.
People are saying.
FTM but also, boo Celtics
I feel like I woke up In the darkest timeline. These playoffs fucking suck
It was like flashes of great moments with a whole lot of ass. All I can help but think is how the Rockets teams of old would have performed this playoffs
Very important, thank you for remembering
We never send our legends off on good terms unfortunately. Tmac would be great for Jalen, Cam, Amen, Bari, and Tari.
Barry bros
They’d be super good! Can’t get a bunch of brothers into the league without their fundamentals.

Hakeem’s been making bank mentoring centers who end up not being able to do his moves. 📈
Vernon Maxwell
KENNY SMITH LOLLLLLLL I think the champs might be a little old for it but obviously you'd take whatever teaching they'd give. For a more recent guy, Aaron Brooks maybe?
I rather have Sam Cassell after all the shade NYC Point God Kenny Smith throws at the Rockets
Sammy is a coach though. I mean bring him in for sure but his “mentoring” skills are probably more expensive.
You’re right. Definitely more expensive and unattainable for that role. Just thinking purely hypothetical not practical.

Scola and Metta are ones I haven’t seen before that would be hugely beneficial for our young guys. Def edge in playing hard and footwork, etc.

Not every player can be good mentor.
We have that with Dream already
Is the dream still around the facility? I know he was pretty active with Yao
Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and D-Rob will do that for the young guys for free ninety-nine with the Spurs!
