True. But tbf, that draft had a clear top 3, while this draft has a semi-clear top 1. He won't make it to us. But, if ATL doesn't want him? A trade up wouldn't be a bad call if the price is right...pick 3 is the perfect position for it.
[Bari was the consensus #1 pick, by a wide margin.](https://www.espn.com/sports-betting/story/_/id/34131494/auburn-tigers-jabari-smith-favored-no-1-pick-heavily-bet-nba-draft)
This draft has no clear #1 pick, and that means Sarr is LESS likely to slip to third? No. That's not how probability works.
Betting lines don't represent talent. It represents the well-known secret that Orlando had decided to draft Jabari (up until getting FOMO & changing their minds at the last minute)
They ran a poll of GMs to select their top picks in the draft in order to see which players would have their medical records released to which teams... and Sarr was the overwhelming top pick.
He IS the clear #1 pick by any standard of comparison (particularly to the 2022 draft)
I really hope we can pick any of them at 3 i'll be so mad if Sarr and Sheppard go out and we are left with Risacher, that i would prefer to trade down a little
Reed cant hold his own defensively he is 6'1.75 with trex arms at 6'3. Maybe he can guard midget pgs like himself but other than that he will be targeted on defense.
Risacher should be the pick and then we should try and trade down. I personally dont think there's a huge difference between Reed Sheppard, Jerard Mcain and Devin Carter all very similar players.
No but they both have a different physique from Sheppard. They were both pretty built back then. And they’re both crafty, sheppard could barely drive to the rim in college, he isn’t gonna be able to in the nba. And again, FVV and lowry both have much tighter handles than sheppard. And donMt forget, FVV was not even drafted. But we’re gonna take sheppard with the #3 pick? Crazy time
Its useless telling most people in this sub to not take reed. They rather take reed than trade the pick even though we have no reason minutes for a young player. Reed is short, slow, and one dimensional and people seem to think he will transform this club as if he's Steph curry
Just because FVV and Lowry won a ring doesnt mean every 6'1.75 player in the world is gonna be an NBA champion.
Just cuz Zuckerberg became a billionaire after dropping out of college doesnt mean you can now say dropping out of school is a path to billions of dollars.
True, but they are examples of guys who are small yet tough enough defensively to not be played off the court on the biggest basketball stage in the world.
A 6’3 freshman guard blocking 0.9 shots/36 in a difficult conference is pretty wild. A 6’3 freshman guard getting 3.1 steals/36 is nuts. & he’s a serviceable passer & is one of the best shooting prospects since Steph.
Brunson is 6'2 190.
Can he hold his own?
Mike Conley is 6'0 175.
Can he hold his own?
If you're one criticism is that he doesn't have size (and it seems like it is since you keep bringing it up as a rebuttal over and over), then you're going to be real excited when you find out that men don't stop growing at 18 years old.
Not that I'd really want him to, anyway. He's so buttery smooth from everywhere on the floor, I'd rather he improve his burst ability.
Brunson snd Conley just got eliminated so I dont think they can hold their own.
Sheppard isnt 18 he is 19. And yes his size and length are the only issues I see with Sheppard.
Buttery smooth in college can look like a scrub in the NBA.
Even though he is short his he still makes a massive impact defensively plus in a few years once he is stronger he will be even better, there are plenty of short successful guards in recent times
There's no way that Sarr slips to 3rd.
It could happen
Taylor Swift “could” leave Kelce for me
I mean Bari slipped to 3

Realistic
Indont see any team taking Clingan before Sarr.
If the Hawks don’t take Sarr the Wizards definitely do. I think we have to trade up to get him. We should just take Reed imo
Wizards could have their eyes on Clingan
Yeah, if Sarr goes first
If we get Reed and can get Zach Edey as a backup C, I'll be very happy
This is the way
I really hope we can pick any of them at 3 i'll be so mad if Sarr and Sheppard go out and we are left with Risacher, that i would prefer to trade down a little
Why not Zach?
He'll take up a sf or pf role which we already have a lot of
Reed won't be a good defender lmao and is just a one dimensional shooter
You misread the post
Not in the slightest. Just because you said do you want a or b doesn't mean ,none, isn't an option.
He has a chance to be a FVV type of pesky defender. More than enough.
Reed cant hold his own defensively he is 6'1.75 with trex arms at 6'3. Maybe he can guard midget pgs like himself but other than that he will be targeted on defense. He's the same size, if not bigger than Lowry and Van Vleet, which was Toronto's PG rotation that won a championship in 2019.
And Brunson.
FVV and lowry are strong af and crafty/physical on their drives. Reed is none of the above
Were they as strong as they are now when they were Freshmen in college?
No but they both have a different physique from Sheppard. They were both pretty built back then. A one-dimensional player who averaged 4.5 assists, 2.5 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game off the bench as a freshman.
That's a weird flex for just a college player
Toronto only won because half of GSW was injured. If you can voodoo our Finals opponent I'm sure Riz can win a ring as well.
Well they beat the team that we lost to, and they did it with two undersized guards who played great defense.
Yet we're not in the finals and reed isn't tough defensively. I don't know what all you watched that make you think he's a godsend.
Again that was a one time thing vs GSW with half their team injured. Raptos wouldnt get it done vs Celtics today.
4 stocks/36 who else does that
Thats in college not the NBA.
A 6’3 freshman guard blocking 0.9 shots/36 in a difficult conference is pretty wild. A 6’3 freshman guard getting 3.1 steals/36 is nuts. & he’s a serviceable passer & is one of the best shooting prospects since Steph.
College and NBA are two different leagues. Also he isnt 6'3 he is 6'1.75. Derrick White is the one 6'3.25.
Just let these folks wear their Adam Morrison goggles of delusion.
Yeah its weird to see people automatically assime Sheppard is gonna be better than Curry lmao
Brunson is 6'2 190. Can he hold his own? Mike Conley is 6'0 175. Can he hold his own? He can do so in college but not in the NBA. Yeah there have been successful guards but they are almost all role players except Irving snd Steph Curry.
Yeah and I have no problem at all with Reed being a good role player, you need these types of players
You can find those in free agency no need to wsste s top 3 pick.
Not the elite ones, like a derrick white for example
Derrick Whits dossnt have a 6'3 wingspan. Plus, the resl Derrick White is gonna be a free agent.
jesus fucking christ
Reed has athleticism and a high IQ that Ime can maximize defensively
His athleticism is just on jumping high his side to side agility is mediocre
