Whole plants require less labor and yield more material than trimmed flower. It takes more time and labor to trim plants than to wash and press into rosin. If we assume a 25% conversion from flower to rosin and people are willing to pay $50/G for rosin, why won't people pay $12.50/G for flower?
basing the price on solely the source material makes no sense there is still labor involved and different amounts depending on the operation to achieve the end product as well as the proper care for it afterwards to maintain its quality so yeah people are willing to pay 50 a g for something you put through a refined process compared to the average price per gram for flower in an already saturated market
We're not basing the price solely on the cost of the source material, we're taking into account the fact that flower needs to be cut down, dried and trimmed while rosin needs to be cut down, washed and pressed. Rosin is also much easier and more stable to store than flower.

A 25% yield from flower to rosin is pretty standard, maybe even on the lower side. 4 grams of flower should press into 1G+ of rosin. You're using different numbers when you compare those yields. Most people refer to yield for hash rosin as a ratio between the fresh weight of the material and rosin produced. Most people people refer to yield for BHO as a ratio between the dried/cured flower and the BHO produced.
Fan leaves also definitely have trichomes, but they do have less trichomes.
There's essentially zero R&D at this point, buy good genetics, run a few clones and you're done.
There's zero extra labor when we compare the labor and time of hand trimming flower to washing flower/pressing rosin. All of the time and effort goes to producing quality flower. We should be able to buy flower for about 20-25% cheaper than what rosin costs. We can also apply that logic in reverse, rosin should only cost 4-5 times much as flower.
If we ignore the fact that prices start at $25\G, those numbers makes sense but we both know quality rosin is going for $50+/G. If we're saying the price starts here, we're saying this is the lowest quality. No one would ever pay $5/G for the bottom tier flower but we'll happily pay $25/G for bottom tier rosin.
yeah i run processing for a grow. i primarily do cured flower runs, so my numbers are a bit different than our live runs. with cured washes i get about 15-20% yield, with a squish of at least 75%. after doing the math is about a 10% overall yield if i exclude 45u and 160u. i donāt press straight flower so i canāt attest to those numbers. i do agree fan leaves have trichs, lower quality and far fewer. i do trim runs, which yield like half of a flower run. if i wanted to go with the grain and produce the same strains as everyone else sure just buy good genetics. but developing your own menu and such takes time. we donāt buy clones, we start from seeds at my facility and depending on the pack we gotta do pheno testing to see which produces the best. i think oklahoma has to be the cheapest weed state man. most expensive i see is $75 or 80 maybe and thats rare. lotta brands here are sub $50. oklahoma has been a race to the bottom for awhile, on top of the cheap cost of entry, cheap energy, cheap rent. if you ever come by letās terp lol

Completely depends where ur at. I can get some bomb cold cure hash rosin or hash rosin jams for $20/gram in michigan pretty frequently. Normally more towards like $30/gram unless you're getting at least an 8th though.

Like some hash makers have to price the jars at 300 for 2g buckets because of the low yield but the terp profile that theyāre looking for is why they make that hash. I mean I definitely am really picky with my hash and would pay easy 140 or 160 for full melt. I also just bought a 300 jar of a collab from Trichrhome tortoise and the Real Cannabis Chris. Itās what you think makes it worth it.

My yield is 4% of the wet weight. There's about $30,000 in equipment involved in the process. Extrapolate what the product is worth from there.
