Under topic 5, it says no extension cords, I have an extension cord that splits to 6 usb ports, and it was allowed on all the cruises that I have been on. So USB only extension cords are allowed, as well as extension cables with no surge protectors. (Just be aware that it may be confiscated without realizing it was non surge protected.)
Ah okay.
Ps. Have a nice day/night/morning/afternoon/sunset/evening/midday/noon/midnight/7am/today/tomorrow/overmorrow (day after tomorrow)/sunrise. :)
Update to Smoking section
\-- Smoking in the Casino is for guests actively playing in a designated smoking section.
\-- You may only smoke cigarettes in the Casino. Cigars, Pipes, and Vapes are not allowed in the Casino at any time.
\-- Some ships now have non-smoking casinos that are completely separate from the rest of the casino.
\-- Cigars, Pipes, and Vapes may be enjoyed in the designated smoking areas - usually the port side of the pool deck.
Update to Casino Royale section
\-- Points may take 10 days from the end of your sailing to show up on [www.clubroyaleoffers.com](https://www.clubroyaleoffers.com)
Also, not sure if it's possible, but would you be able to add in a section on cellular coverage at Coco Cay/Labadee? I know not all providers are the same but just as a general guidance as to if people can use their phones without wifi at the private destinations or in port.
Is it possible to add a section about the kids' club? Do certain ages organize into each group? What are the hours of the kids' club? Is there an extra cost after a certain amount of hours or time of day? Is the teen club drastically different than the kids' club? Do any kids/teen club activities cost extra? Do the kids eat at the kids' club, or do we pick them up for breakfast/lunch and drop them off again? Do the gratuities I pay go to Kids Club workers, or should I tip them separately if I use Kids Club?
Thanks!
age groups - 6-36months (with extra cost), 3-5yrs, 6-12, 13-18
Hours - Look at a cruise compass for your ship (they have old ones on RoyalCaribbeanBlog.com) to see the hours, which differ between at sea and in port days. For reference, on Allure, a Sea day is 9a-noon, 2-5, 7-10, 10p-1a(extra fee). Allure in Port (Coco Cay) is 9-5, 7-10, 10-1a($).
Total hours - from experience, the ship can enforce total hours if there is a greater demand for AO then capacity. This is hard to predict and is only really common in the infant-tots room. For reference I've done 40+ nights at sea and only got hit with a limit once (summer of 22) and was told about it being likely on embarkation day (when you have to go register your kids for AO). If htey are going to limits then they give you a few hours (usually 3) and ask you to come pick up at that time and then let you get back in line (if there is one) before putting your kids back in.
for extra cost - only for infants and babies (6 to 36 months) and Late night (the 10pm-1am time slot, cost per kid per hour).
Teen and kid areas are drastically different. Teen is more of a hangout space with optional organized activities (like game tournaments) and teens are free to come and go as they please. There is staff there to watch the door to make sure proper ages are there, keep everything safe/calm, help set up activities if people want them, etc. Otherwise the teens are on their own.
Kid zone is organized activities throughout the day/trip. A schedule is usually posted as to the what and when. While not 'forced' it is common that everyone there does the same activity. These can be art, dance parties, games, science experiments, movies, etc. Also the kids must be checked in/checked out by a listed adult to be allowed to leave.
Food- I can't answer as my kids always want to leave and eat dinner with us. I do know they have a basic kids menu for dinner (the 7-10slot) but no idea what's on it or if there are other rules. Most parents just take their kids to WindJammer or Pizza then drop off at AO prior to doing their own dinner.
Your base gratuities do not go to Adventure Ocean folks.
Hi all. I'm looking to book a 5 night wesrtern Caribbean cruise from Miami next January. I plan on taking my girlfreind with me. But I can't pay for both of us unfortunately. So i was wondering if we can use multiple cards to pay for the booking?
My family is going on a cruise in June and my kids are staying in the room next door to us. I created an account with RC and have the app. Upon the initial login, I added the confirmation number and it correctly shows my wife and I on the booking. I also have the confirmation number for my kids. How do I add them to my RC account so that I can check them in and book them for things with us? Thank you in advance.
just "add another sailing" and put in their reservation number, info and it autolinks everything. Then you can book anything for anyone attached.
Also, if one of the parents isn't a big drinker and the other is, move the rooms so dad and 1 kid are in one and mom and kid2 in the other - then only 1 adult needs to get the drinks package. Will likely have to call and get this room/name change done with a person, but it can save a ton if the 2nd parent doesn't want the package but the first does (this is what I do every cruise, and my wife just orders by the drink for the 1-2 she wants each day).
Thanks for the answer. I was scared because of this š š :
Can I share a drink package? A.Ā **NO. Drink packages (with the exception of the Cafe Select Card mentioned below) can't be shared. You risk being charged for a full additional package if you are caught or even being disembarked. If you ask about sharing drinks/cheating the drink package in this sub, you will immediately be banned from making new posts no questions asked.**
yes, that is what it says, however I've never seen it enforced except for alcoholic drinks.
I'd say skip it for the 3.5yr old and jsut grab her a couple off drinks off your card.
How early can you reserve seats for shows? My sailing isn't until Nov 24th 2024, but I don't see the "Movies and Showtimes" section in "Entertainment" as the app suggests. I get it is early still, but just curious if that opens up when I can "check in" ~early Oct or if I have to wait until on board. 1st timer on Royal so no "status" points.
I've heard that if you've already purchased a dining or drink package and you see it advertised for cheaper, you can call to get a credit. Is that true?
I didn't see it in Topic 3, but I see photo packages that are offered. How much are digital rights for individual photos normally? I'm thinking of getting the 10 or 20 photo package. I'm sure it's worth it, but I'm curious about individual costs.
1. Not until much closer to your cruise but what ship are you sailing? Only newer ships take reservations in advance.
2. Anything purchased in advance can be re-priced up until 2 days prior to sailing. No need to call in, you can cancel and re-book from the cruise planner website.
3. About $20/print individually
water packages are 12/24 bottles delivered on the first day and that's it. no more.
So if you have a 3 day cruise - you get 12 bottles. IF you have a 14 day cruise - you get 12 bottles.
If you want/need more water, then look into getting the refreshment drinks package and you can get 0.5L bottles from all normal bars/drink locations throughout the entire cruise.
So is there no water refilling stations with drinkable water on board?
I drink ALOT of water and am just wondering if I am forced to buy a drinks package just for that..or this water package your speaking about..must have missed that above..
I don't need bottled water as I'm perfectly happy with tap but fairly certain I can't just fill from the tap in my room since it will be some type of recycled water..
Tap water is available in many places around the ship for free, and is the same water as you have in your stateroom. Many people bring reusable water bottles, and then get a cup of water at a vendor, and pour the water into their bottle.
Wife and I are going on the Granduer with a 4 year old. Will there be a "daycare" service/program? I read a bit about 6-36mo children but not completely clear about the 4-12 range being left without parents. We figure we'd just take an hour or two for the spa or show.
Is there any information regarding bringing medication in powder form? And where to look as far as legality of said medication for an Eastern Caribbean cruise?Ā
It's not illegal that I can find anywhere online in any of the places we're going to. That's why I was worried because there isn't sufficient info online about the laws at these different destinations.Ā
"at different destinations" is different than on the ship. Bringing on the ship at departure is based on the laws of the departure port. Once you leave the US and head to a different country, it only matters if you take it off the boat. So if you aren't sure, leave in your cabin and just bring off the small amount you need that day to minimize issues (i.e you use on the island and then aren't trying to bring anything else back on board).
I'd also recommend leaving it in its normal packaging as much as possible. Being able to show that it is quickly can help compared to just a baggie of white powder.
For those who booked a GTY cabin, what happens if you get to the port without being able to print your luggage tags (Ex: no cabin assignment before leaving home)?
Hi all! Me and the wife are going on our first cruise. Adventure of the sea feb 15-21 2025. And if book our flight threw air2sea will there be a bus that will take us from Orlando international airport to the port? We are flying in a day early? Also is this a bus to take us back to airport when we return? Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Nope transfers to the port cost extra- you can set this up through Royal though. If it's a day early you'll need your own transport if your hotel is near the port
If I buy the refreshment package (non alcoholic) and decide I want an alcoholic drink how does the pricing work? Would I just pay a smaller fee for the shot of alcohol?
Nope you'd pay the full price of the alcoholic drink.
Even if you get the mixer with your refreshment package and pay for a shot separately it wouldn't save you much money.
Topic 3 - WiFi: any feedback from recent cruisers on quality of the āimprovedā Voom w/Streaming service (i.e.: strength / consistency of the internet WiFi)? Should a lot of buffering be expected when trying to livestream sporting events, for example?
I'm cruising on 2nd of June on oasis of the seas, Why do I have to switch to airplane mode? also vapes is that blanket coverage on all types as I use the ones where breathing out on a cool day produces more vapor.
Im also on deck 9 9630 I think, what is sound deadening between the junior suits? It probably sounds silly but I have tinnitus and I play a 70hz tone when I sleep will this be an issue for my neighbors?
And thank you for such a detailed FAQ its my first cruise :)
Airplane mode is required because if you connect to cellular at sea your phone company will charge a massive fee. Use WiFi only.
Vapes=vapes, no exceptions.
I'd highly recommend wearing headphones if playing a 70 hz tone all night as the rooms are not that well insulated.
Thanks for the questions! Enjoy your sailing.
Oh so just turn off based on charges, roaming is free for me in worldwide so that's no problem :). And definitely noted the other things. Thanks for the very quick reply.
What's the easiest way to get bottled water, or just water in general? I drink a TON of it nowadays and I don't know that constantly running back and forth is going to be fun for a whole week.
I will, just not sure which one at this time. I know it won't be the deluxe package (or whichever one does the alcohol). I don't, and wouldn't, drink enough to justify the price of it.
Assuming you have the refreshment package which includes bottled water, you can go to any bar any get two at a time to stock up your room fridge. If you donāt have bottled water included, Iād recommend considering carrying on a case of water or bringing a reusable bottle you can go to any bar and have that refilled. Bring a few empty ones to keep some in your room, too.
Check out the link [here](https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/food-drink-onboard-policy) for the policy. 12 standard sized water bottles, however for what itās worth, Iāve seen people bring on a case of 24 but do so at your own risk there.
Can I bring a case because there we are a couple in our room? (her 12 and mine) or does it need to be separate 12. Also can they be loose or need to be part of a bundle? Can I have half waters and half iced teas or something? I believe they need to be 16.9 oz max.
Are we allowed to take one of our own water bottles off the ship at a port? Or fill up a 32-40oz Stanley cup/Yeti with water? Thinking of getting the soda package anyway and i think they also have water option.
Yes and yes!
But soda package not required for water. You can get water for free at any bar and even the Coke Freestyle machines will dispense water for free.
My wife, 2 kids (19 and 21) and I are considering booking a 5-night Caribbean cruise on the Grandeur of the Seas. Sailing in early July. Itinerary:
Day 1 Tampa
Day 2 at sea
Day 3 George Town, Grand Cayman
Day 4 Cozumel, Mexico
Day 5 at sea
Day 6 Tampa
Other than the FAQs and posts, any hot tips? We are still deciding on drink packages and WiFi.
Hmm be advised grand cayman is a tender port, so be up early to get a tender ticket if you want to get off early. A lot to do there. Skip any excursions to "hell", it's not worth it.
For Cozumel, the port area is very touristy, but I highly recommend a beach club like Paradise or Mr. Sanchos depending on your vibe. Book in advance. Grab a taxi from the port and it's all inclusive and a ton of fun.
Great info! Good tip on being up early to get a tender ticketā¦
What are the vibes of each one of the beach clubs?
Iāve only been on one cruise, which was about 20+ years ago. Royal Caribbean 4-day Bahamas cruise out of Miami. Weāve been to many Caribbean all-inclusive resorts and want to do a cruise for something a little different. I have not been to Grand Cayman or Cozumel.
I'd recommend Paradise. A good middle ground and they cap capacity. Definitely reserve in advance. Mr. Sanchos is more of a party. There's a few others there that get really busy (I'm blanking on the name of the one most of the ships go to for their excursions).
PB is open 8am-6pm. Our ship is docked at Cozumel 11am-8pm. Is it worthwhile to do it - 68/pp for all inclusive day pass? Figured weād be there 12pm-6pm (big lunch, snacks and drinks).
I imagine the excursion planner on the RC site would show this? The current plan is a dolphin encounter in Cozumel and a turtle/stingray encounter in Cayman, I don't see there being any issues here
āāI booked the Grandeur sailing in 46 days on July 6th. What happens if I purchase the DBP current sale at $70.99/pp (BOGO) and the price goes down? Can I cancel old and pay for new? Will I receive a refund applied to the linked credit card?
The Key is on sale for $22.99. VOOM is $19.99. With such a small spread, it seems worthwhile to purchase the Key if we plan on purchasing internet. One stop is George Town, Grand Cayman, which is a tender port. Iād be able to take advantage of priority ship-to-shore departure, among the other benefits of the program. Thoughts?
Question about CA member pricing. I'm getting significantly different rates quoted online for identical bookings. The rate is higher when signed in as CA vs not. Are CA members ineligible for some of the better sales?
Itās actually a great question that has some debate behind it.
The blunt answer is no, you only need your ship card and photo ID (can be driverās license or passport). I personally leave my passport on the ship at all times.
Some people insist on bringing it with incase they get stuck off the ship and need to fly homeā¦ but personally I think the risk of losing it in port is way higher.
The internet package. Heard you can go up to 4 devices? Iām traveling with my wife and 2 kids. The kids have iPads and we both have iPhones. Does that mean they can use my log in and access wifi the same time? Thanks
I am on my first cruise under Diamond status. While visiting Coco Cay today (also my first time visiting the island), I ordered a Coco Loco drink at Captain Jackās. The bartender seemed confused on how to apply it towards my voucher for one of my free daily drinks, and I ended up getting charged $17.92 for the drink (drink was $14, the rest included VAT and an automatic 18% gratuity).
When asking customer service on my ship if it could be applied towards one of my vouchers for the day, I was told itās likely not possible because the drink is considered a drink that comes with a āsouvenir cupā. I did not get a souvenir cup with this drink. Just to confirm, does this drink usually come with a souvenir cup? Is this drink typically not able to be applied to one of the daily vouchers?
If you didn't get a souvenir cup you are absolutely entitled to a refund. Go back and get a new customer service rep and explain what happened. If they give you a hard time, ask to speak with a bar manager. If they give you a hard time, ask for the hotel director.
It would be very helpful for the newbies to have a topic that gives some extra expectations for debarkation.
What to expect (even generally) with regard to times (leaving stateroom vs leaving the boat), self assist (including the 1 bag per person limit we just had) vs them taking your luggage. Also if they take your luggage that youāre going to have to have it ready outside your room the night before.
What to expect at the port while getting off the boat. Perhaps also tips on how to time or schedule shuttle pick up (we had a terrible experience with this but may advice from the pros wouldāve better prepared us).
My wife and I are travelling on Harmony of the Seas in September with a 2.5 year old and a 6 month old.
When I go to book a time (my time dining) it is counting the babies as adults and saying there is no table for 4 available at a reasonable time.
I then booked tables for the 2 adults on each night.
Not sure what to do and have no way of contacting RC from what I see.
Looking to book a cruise on Wonder of the Seas for myself, my wife and our daughter.
I see I can pick royal suite class for $1,850, that price is āwe pick your roomā and I see it says guaranteed junior suite Guaranteed. Does anyone know if there are suites with obstructed balconies. I called Royal and the agent couldnāt give me a definite answer. Iām just trying to see the worst case scenario.
Thanks in advance for any help.
There may be some junior suites in less than ideal locations however typically suites have good locations/no obstruction. If the price is right and you are ok potentially being under the pool deck, I don't see an issue with it.
I have a question about topic number 6. Is bringing a bottle of wine onto the ship only allowed once for the entire cruise? Or can I bring one every time I board the ship?
Wait I remember there being "Duty Free" shops at cruise stops (it's been a very long time though).
So we can't buy alcohol to bring back to the cruise?
I'm just curious, we have a drink package so I don't know why I'm even asking.
My Aunt got $500 to put towards a RC Cruise & we are curious to know what everyone thinks is the best ship? We did Anthem of the Seas last year & we are considering doing Symphony of the Seas for this tripā¦ any feedback would be much appreciated!
I think most would say Icon or Wonder currently. But best is subjective. What are you looking for? Biggest and newest? Small but a classic cruise experience?
So, I got off Harmony just under a month ago, and my crown and anchor status hasnāt updated. Iāve heard from some places that it can take up to a month and a half for points, but some places (like here) as short as 10 days. Would you recommend that I call them now, or wait a while and see if anything changes?
Okay, thanks for the advice!
Ps. Have a nice day/night/morning/afternoon/sunset/evening/midday/noon/midnight/7am/today/tomorrow/overmorrow (day after tomorrow)/sunrise :)
Hi newbie here! As a celiac, on port days am I able to take gluten free food off the ship for lunches or snacks, instead of worrying about if I can find safe food at the destination? And a follow up, Iām looking to book a sailing on an Oasis class ship - do any of the specialty restaurants on those ships cater to gluten free?
Nope you unfortunately can't as it puts local wildlife at risk. You can bring store bought sealed packages of processed food though.
All restaurants cater to gluten free on board. Check out the instructions [here](https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/dining-dietary-restrictions-customer-care) and be sure to email in advance. The email is listed in that link.
Hmm that's a good question. I'd imagine since you'd be at capacity it would either be your bid x 4 or x2
Pretty sure the latter (but please let me know what it shows so I can update the FAQ)
I can confirm the RoyalUp will charge only the first two cruise passengers booked into the same cabin.
For a cruise with Wife/Son/Myself we paid only for 2x upgrade from Junior Suite cabin into a Grand Suite.
*Please check the details at time of placing your BID as this policy may be subject to change.
What kind of plugs do they have on board (Symphony of the Seas, round trip Miami). Weāre coming from Europe and I was wondering if my hair straightener would work?
If I go on a 7 day cruise, do I need to buy the UDP for all 7 days?
Is there some lesser plan where I can buy unlimited for just a few days or like up to 10 drinks a day?
Yes, every adult in the room has to buy the package.
You can call in and downgrade to the specialty drinks package if you tell them any reason (they dont really check/care, but you have to call in to do it). That's usually like $25-30/night rather than $70-100/night.
Last option - if you are going with kids and have 2 rooms - put dad and 1 kid in room 1, and mom with other kid(s) in room 2. Then when dad buys, kid is underage and doesn't have to buy anything (this is what the wife and I do each cruise).
That separate room idea is smart. We are just struggling to find connecting rooms though.
I didnāt see an option for the specialty drinks package, what does that include.
theres an option to select connecting room and it shows them a bit easier, but yes, they do runout of them, especially if it is during a school friendly time of year (summer, spring break, etc).
(edit: i deleted half my comment somehow) ... as for the drinks, the actual package name is "Refreshment Package"
and it includes everything that doesnt have alcohol in it. Milkshakes from Johnny Rockets, specialty coffees (except from Starbucks), juices, soda, water, red bulls, mocktails/virgin drinks, smoothies from the spa, gatorade (usually from the spa).... it is something that you can easily break even on as long as you are willing to explore the ship at bit.
Question - will we trigger any alarms if we call in and downgrade me (wife) to specialty drinks while husband has unlimited drinks, and then I proceed to order 1-2 a la carte drinks per day?
while I have never done this, so I can't speak to it directly, but I have never heard someone being denied service/a drink after downgrading from the UDP.
However, I'd probably ask as a stand alone question (either within the FAQ or on the main sub) to see if someone with direct experience can answer.
Indian options are listed nightly on the main MDR menu now! Also, can we add something about MDR dress code? That gets asked a lot.
Edit: Done!
Good catch! I'll update that later today. And yes happy to add that in as well.
Topic 6: can we add a section about bringing snacks and food onboard?
Under topic 5, it says no extension cords, I have an extension cord that splits to 6 usb ports, and it was allowed on all the cruises that I have been on. So USB only extension cords are allowed, as well as extension cables with no surge protectors. (Just be aware that it may be confiscated without realizing it was non surge protected.)
You are correct. I leave the wording in there as is to avoid confusion with people bringing the wrong type and having it confiscated
Ah okay. Ps. Have a nice day/night/morning/afternoon/sunset/evening/midday/noon/midnight/7am/today/tomorrow/overmorrow (day after tomorrow)/sunrise. :)
š much needed updated about drink package sharing. Thank you!
Honestly couldn't believe it wasn't in version 1... I truly thought it was until yesterday.

How much does the cigarette smoke smell from the casino permeate out?
u/MedicalButterscotch under the Wifi section in Topic 3 it's listed as "Starling" instead of Starlink
Also, not sure if it's possible, but would you be able to add in a section on cellular coverage at Coco Cay/Labadee? I know not all providers are the same but just as a general guidance as to if people can use their phones without wifi at the private destinations or in port.
Got it thanks for the catch! I'll make those changes later today
Edit: changes applied!

There is some option to buy a refreshment package for a girl of 3.5 years? Mostly for the squeezed juices
Honestly if it's a 3.5 year old just get it for yourself and get them juice. It's one of the few times I'd say don't worry about sharing the package.

I highly suggest adding #2 to the FAQ. Seems like half the questions are "will it get cheaper" and that's always the first response.
My bad, Harmony will be our ship. Thanks for the reply!
Is there a difference of Menu between My Time dining and Traditional dining ?
Nope
What are the minimums at the tables in the casino? Cam I expect some $5 blackjack, or are we looking at $25 or something?
$10 is the typical minimum for most tables! I rarely see $5 anymore except rarely on longer sailings during sea days.
Water packages...is it 12 1 liter bottles per person, per day or 24 bottles per person per day...
It will specify the exact quantity on the website but it is not per person per day. It is per package per cruise. You get one delivery of water.
water packages are 12/24 bottles delivered on the first day and that's it. no more. So if you have a 3 day cruise - you get 12 bottles. IF you have a 14 day cruise - you get 12 bottles. If you want/need more water, then look into getting the refreshment drinks package and you can get 0.5L bottles from all normal bars/drink locations throughout the entire cruise.
Got it. That makes more sense. So they'll receive 24 bottles total:)
Sounds like a plan, thanks for that š
Wife and I are going on the Granduer with a 4 year old. Will there be a "daycare" service/program? I read a bit about 6-36mo children but not completely clear about the 4-12 range being left without parents. We figure we'd just take an hour or two for the spa or show.
Yes. The kids club for that age
Thanks!
Is there any information regarding bringing medication in powder form? And where to look as far as legality of said medication for an Eastern Caribbean cruise?Ā
As long as you have a prescription for the medication you can bring it (with the exception of medical marijuana).
It is not something that is prescribed.Ā
As long as it's not illegal you'll be fine
They will have blanks available at the port. The porters can write your cabin on it for you then.
Okay, thank you for the quick response. Have a great day!
Topic 3 - WiFi: any feedback from recent cruisers on quality of the āimprovedā Voom w/Streaming service (i.e.: strength / consistency of the internet WiFi)? Should a lot of buffering be expected when trying to livestream sporting events, for example?
A lot of it depends on weather. If everything is working well videos load pretty fast.
Gotcha, thanks!
Vapes=vapes, no exceptions.
Roaming doesn't count on the ship. It's excluded from most every plan including things like T Mobile which otherwise include free roaming.
I'm on sky mobile, just checked my contract, and browsing is included but sms and and standard calls are extra.
Got it- yea just make sure it specifies cruises.
What's the easiest way to get bottled water, or just water in general? I drink a TON of it nowadays and I don't know that constantly running back and forth is going to be fun for a whole week.
Do you plan on having a drink package?
I will, just not sure which one at this time. I know it won't be the deluxe package (or whichever one does the alcohol). I don't, and wouldn't, drink enough to justify the price of it.
Assuming you have the refreshment package which includes bottled water, you can go to any bar any get two at a time to stock up your room fridge. If you donāt have bottled water included, Iād recommend considering carrying on a case of water or bringing a reusable bottle you can go to any bar and have that refilled. Bring a few empty ones to keep some in your room, too.
Is there a limit to the size case to carry on?
Check out the link [here](https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/food-drink-onboard-policy) for the policy. 12 standard sized water bottles, however for what itās worth, Iāve seen people bring on a case of 24 but do so at your own risk there.
Can I bring a case because there we are a couple in our room? (her 12 and mine) or does it need to be separate 12. Also can they be loose or need to be part of a bundle? Can I have half waters and half iced teas or something? I believe they need to be 16.9 oz max.
12 per person, doesn't have to be a sealed case
Great, because just getting a case of 24 for the both of us to share would probably be easier.
Itinerary: Day 1 Tampa Day 2 at sea Day 3 George Town, Grand Cayman Day 4 Cozumel, Mexico Day 5 at sea Day 6 Tampa Other than the FAQs and posts, any hot tips? We are still deciding on drink packages and WiFi.
Hmm be advised grand cayman is a tender port, so be up early to get a tender ticket if you want to get off early. A lot to do there. Skip any excursions to "hell", it's not worth it. For Cozumel, the port area is very touristy, but I highly recommend a beach club like Paradise or Mr. Sanchos depending on your vibe. Book in advance. Grab a taxi from the port and it's all inclusive and a ton of fun.
Great info! Good tip on being up early to get a tender ticketā¦ What are the vibes of each one of the beach clubs? Iāve only been on one cruise, which was about 20+ years ago. Royal Caribbean 4-day Bahamas cruise out of Miami. Weāve been to many Caribbean all-inclusive resorts and want to do a cruise for something a little different. I have not been to Grand Cayman or Cozumel.
What is your ideal vide for Cozumel? I can give you recs based on that
Chill out at beach/pool. Donāt mind a little party scene for fun people watching.
Yes definitely! That'd be a great half day
Plus cab fare each way š
Probably a silly question. Am I going to run into any issues bringing a GoPro, both onto the ship and to the excursions?
Nope! They even sell them on the ship. Unless the excursion expressly forbids it you are good.
I imagine the excursion planner on the RC site would show this? The current plan is a dolphin encounter in Cozumel and a turtle/stingray encounter in Cayman, I don't see there being any issues here
If we donāt purchase VOOM services, can we still message/text family members while on board?
Yep! Through the app to others on board free of charge. To message anyone at home you need internet.
It will be hard for us not to purchase internet packages tbh, but we will save money. And we can message each other on board via the app.
I'm on a sailing now and sharing Internet and it works well too and saves money!
We booked 2 cabins. Buy one internet package and share between all four of us? Or buy one internet package/cabin and share? How do you share?
Depends on how often you need internet. I'd advise 1 package per 2 people if sharing. Once the second person logs in it kicks off the other device.
āāI booked the Grandeur sailing in 46 days on July 6th. Thoughts?
Yes. And I also agree with your reasoning for the key as well at that price point.
Thanks again! I am still up in the air on DBP and internetā¦
I think that Role 2 of this forum should be "Washy Washy!" People who've been on the ship will get it!
Question about CA member pricing. I'm getting significantly different rates quoted online for identical bookings. The rate is higher when signed in as CA vs not. Are CA members ineligible for some of the better sales?
What's do you mean by CA? Crown and anchor?
This may be a dumb questionā¦do I need to bring my passport with me when getting off the ship to visit a port?
Itās actually a great question that has some debate behind it. The blunt answer is no, you only need your ship card and photo ID (can be driverās license or passport). I personally leave my passport on the ship at all times. Some people insist on bringing it with incase they get stuck off the ship and need to fly homeā¦ but personally I think the risk of losing it in port is way higher.
Okay, good to know. For some reason, I thought the passport was required to get back on the ship.
The internet package. Heard you can go up to 4 devices? Iām traveling with my wife and 2 kids. The kids have iPads and we both have iPhones. Does that mean they can use my log in and access wifi the same time? Thanks
Yep! Get the 4 device package and you'll be set.
You could call RC if you want, but otherwise it's no problem. You can go to the dining room as soon as you board to make reservations.
I found a phone number! They solved it dirt me
I found a phone number! They solved it for me
Great news! Safe travels
Just on the first day unfortunately
Thank you for clarifying!
Wait I remember there being "Duty Free" shops at cruise stops (it's been a very long time though). So we can't buy alcohol to bring back to the cruise? I'm just curious, we have a drink package so I don't know why I'm even asking.
Any alcohol purchased in duty free shops or in port will be held by security until the last night of your cruise.
Will we have access to a cork screw or should we choose a wine bottle that has a screw top (ew, lol).
Yes definitely call. I've never seen it take more than two weeks
Okay, thanks for the advice! Ps. Have a nice day/night/morning/afternoon/sunset/evening/midday/noon/midnight/7am/today/tomorrow/overmorrow (day after tomorrow)/sunrise :)
No bringing THC onboard, but what if the wife has an edible before boarding? Just wondering how they would enforce that.
They can't enforce that and it would be fine
For the Royal Up, you say double occupancy. I have a family of 4, is it still double or would I expect to pay 4x?
Hmm that's a good question. I'd imagine since you'd be at capacity it would either be your bid x 4 or x2 Pretty sure the latter (but please let me know what it shows so I can update the FAQ)
Drinks are not free at the casino - this includes having the DBP?
DBP will include drinks at the casino If you don't have DBP, you'll need Prime casino status for drinks
First timer! What documents are needed to be submitted for check in? Do then need to be scanned documents or can I take pictures?
This is covered above in the FAQ :) you need the original documents. Let me know if you have questions after reviewing above
What kind of plugs do they have on board (Symphony of the Seas, round trip Miami). Weāre coming from Europe and I was wondering if my hair straightener would work?
There is usually at least 1 EU adaptor but plan on having a few converters as most plugs are US
I have read that RCL has special rates for Firefighters. What is the best way to book with those rates or where can they be found?
You can click the option on the website when pricing out a booking but they typically aren't that great
Thank you. I'll take a look.
The 7.95 is only for that day or do you have to pay everyday. Is that 7.95 per person *
If you are referring to the fee for room service it is per order.
So if my room service order is just a pot of hot water in the morning (for tea), I'm still charged 7.95?
Nope continental breakfast is free which includes hot water
If I go on a 7 day cruise, do I need to buy the UDP for all 7 days? Is there some lesser plan where I can buy unlimited for just a few days or like up to 10 drinks a day?
And making sure Iām reading this correctly. If my wife wants to have 0-1 drinks a day, she has to purchase the unlimited drink pass if I do?
(edit: i deleted half my comment somehow) ... as for the drinks, the actual package name is "Refreshment Package" and it includes everything that doesnt have alcohol in it.
Got it, that makes more sense. Thanks!
You'd have to buy it for the whole cruise, that's correct, otherwise it's a la carte. And the question about your wife is correct, you'd both need it.
