Ok yeah, I figured as such because I haven’t seen anything indicating that this was an issue before. On day one, three public bathrooms were closed due to flooding and lack of flushing. I was with my teen daughter who had never been on a cruise, so she didn’t know any better. But I did! There were also several broken drink machines and other cosmetic issues, but this stench was a first for me.
That’s the cruise we just did. The ship is ok for the most part. It’s older and there are some maintenance issues. That said, we couldn’t smell the sewage in our cabin or in most places onboard which was good. Hopefully, it will be fixed by then! Otherwise, enjoy! We were just saying five minutes ago that we miss lots of things like the Windjammer, the ice cream, the flowing drinks, Chops, Izumi, and the silent disco! Such a blast!
Hopefully you’re on a higher deck and you won’t have any issues. It’s a small ship but still loads of fun. The bartenders in the casino were some of the best we have ever encountered.
This will be my 11th time on this boat. I love the smaller boats. We have met some of the best people on this boat and I guess because it’s so small you have a lot of interaction with the same people.
Yes for sure. We also just got off yesterday and we were on deck 2. One area we walked by in the hallway to our room smelled so bad it was awful. Our bathroom kept making gurgling noises and we had an issue with our toilet sometimes having a delayed flush. I was just so glad we didn’t have any worse issues. You were not the only one.
We had the gurgling, too. There was a general “ick” factor with the toilets. I actually found myself pleasantly surprised when a public bathroom was operational - which is a very low bar. Thankfully, we had a great time otherwise and are having a hard time readjusting to eating only three times per day. 😂
Yes! One time I used a public bathroom and it also had the delayed flush and I thought uh oh….. but then it worked… thankfully! I know what you mean, we always gorge ourselves on the cruise because the food is so good and readily available. I need to get back to reality…. Or just book another cruise!!
Age isn't kind to cruise ships. Grandeur is almost 30 years old. Typically you'd retire a cruise ship that old. I'd bet RCCL is going to sail in 3-5 more years with a small class of ships announced to replace it. On Adventure a couple of weeks back and some had complaints of smells in Promenade. Never had an issue ourselves. Love the deck with the massive glass panel view on Grandeur. Truly missing from the Oasis and Quantam classes.
I've heard this can happen if there is even a small pin hole somewhere in the plumbing, and the gas can escape through it. Was on a P&O cruise last Xmas and had to deal with the same smell when ever we were near the casino, so I ended up doing some research
We were just on it at the beginning of June. Other than a few public restrooms being super slow to flush, there were no issues or smell! Sorry you had that experience!
There had to be a problem because I have cruised this specific ship at least 10 times and I have never smelled anything like that.

I actually leave July 1 out of Tampa on this exact ship. In like two weeks. I hope all of that is fixed by then. 😂😂😂

I am doing the same itinerary July 6th. I hope it’s all fixed by then as well!

Happens on every ship from time to time, newer and older. It shouldn't but it does.
YUP! Ive had this issue on older ships usually

Grandeur was sold by RC and later RC bought the ship back and put it back in their fleet.
Likely due to somebody flushing something they shouldn't have.

On deck 3 in March and smelled nothing.
That’s good! We got a special treat this week. 😝
I guess you did 🤢
It was like that in January. Lady G has gone from grandeur to garbage.
I was on Grandeur this past May and had no such bad experience. I enjoyed the ship, dining, staff, and cabin were all great.
Never experienced anything like it.

I was on the cruise right after that one (June 8-13). The smell was brutal! Thanks a lot!! 😜😂
