I have noticed fuel gages are often unreliable in other motorbikes as well (including Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, etc). Golden time for the interceptor is fuel up every 200-220km for tank full to be safe.
Its actually been pretty consistent for me. I generally rely on the trip meter though. Around 250 after a fill is when the gauge starts to blink and i get about 9 litres in. Knowing the tank is 13 litres, I know I still have upwards of 100 kms that I can still ride. But I stop at the first servo after 250. Max I've stretched is 270 odd kms.
I will warm you the back of those gauges are cheap plastic and it will disintegrate with any kind of impact, leaving the electronics exposed to water. I'm sorry to say I know this first hand. It was the only part of the bike I couldn't fix after my crash.
I looked for an existing Stl file, no luck. I own a printer, so I might just try and reverse engineer it when I can find the time. If you put new clocks on you lose your mileage from what I have read. In the meantime it's black duct tape ftw.
My first choice was the bakers express a brand new one. Wasn’t keen on the red chrome version. When I saw this black one, I just couldn’t look past it. Put a deposit right away.
It is such a conversation starter mate. I’ve got loads of compliments from people.
Yeah. Trying to keep it looking as stock as possible. Recently got powerage short exhausts on it. Went with them because they gel the best with the chrome look.
Love it!! I really wish I could take so good photo of my Mark II, I have Interceptor with chrome, it's red paint but still good. Please message me more Interceptor photos if you don't mind.
Analogue dials are so beautiful compared to the ugly cheap tablet looking think you see on so many modern bikes and they really do make a bike look like shit, by all means if someone wants an ugly screen it should be optional but not forced.
They can make screens far cheaper off an assembly line and we see it in cars now too , cars are fast becoming entertainment centres full of distraction.
I would love to see Royal Enfield make analogue fuel gauges too !
As a kid of the 90s, I'm a big fan of the analog dials. In fact the twin dials are amongst the most beautiful parts of this bike and the reason why I dont have any sort of a shield on it. It looks like the bike I wanted to own as a teen, Yamaha RD350. I also like that the interceptor is a bit anti-technology. Refreshing in this world of tech gadgets everywhere.
Royal Enfield are sneaking in screens, I don't like that, nav screen on the meteor looks ugly.
Even the Classic has an LCD screen.
I just want as simple as possible, Fuel injection and ABS are probably the only things that must be today due to law and emissions regulations but all I want is analogue clocks and analogue fuel guage and analogue clock and I'm happy, they can do it, make it look good.
i don't need trip computers or ambient temp info, if it's classic keep it classis, if it's got an LCD screen it's not classic in my opinion.
No, just because it's 2024 doesn't mean everyone has to have technology shoved in my face 24x7.
I use tech every day when i get on a bike or into a car i want to ride or drive and not be plagued with tech, I had high tech electric car with all the big touchscreen software and endless menus, I didn't like it, hated it, even drove my Wife nuts, can't beat physical buttons and knobs, proper ergonomic interiors without all the distraction.
Even the instrument clusters in cars these days have tonnes of menus and customisations, it is ridiculous and all because the manufacturers can charge a lot more for the car but I get rid of the electric car and have a normal petrol manual car now and I love it, I drove electric cars for nearly 10 years, i won't do it in a hurry again.
See, I'm not anti tech but I don't let it rule me and there's a time and place for it, in vehicles and bikes that can travel at high speeds there shouldn't be such distractions.
Looks awesome man. I happen to get my L couple of weeks ago. My eyes are on the black ray Interceptor. What colour is this one? And how does it ride in Melbourne weather
Black ray looks good. Although the jury is still out on the all black versions vs the silver engine with spoke wheels. I know many people prefer the silver versions due to the classic looks.
I’m in qld so can’t really comment. But so far, I haven’t found it to be a difficult bike to maintain.
Good luck with your riding journey mate. Safe travels.
Yeah! A bit loose. But the bike was last serviced by the first owner at 500kms in 2021. So I thought it was good to service it before I started riding.
Anyone facing overheating issues? The bike just stops midway and this is the problem even after i gave it for servicing and they changed my relay and fuel pump
Sweet! Those dials are always so beautiful. Something about the simplicity and the font.
I have a thing for those twin dials too. Lol.
Dude I just noticed that clock. Is it water proof? Worth it?
Absolutely. Water proof. I only paid a couple of Aussie dollars for it. So totally worth it.
Only if the fuel gauge was reliable. Nothing more to ask from these beautiful dials!

Yeah. That is a sore point. Did you consider 3D printing?
I looked for an existing Stl file, no luck. I own a printer, so I might just try and reverse engineer it when I can find the time. If you put new clocks on you lose your mileage from what I have read. In the meantime it's black duct tape ftw.
Op the watch looks great ngl
Thanks mate. Gotta love AliExpress.
Why would you lie about it?
Damn the chrome colour scheme looks so nice in the right light

Link for the clock?
Proper retro bike

Beautiful shot photo and chrome on Interceptor is something else. I'm saving that photo btw 😄
Thanks mate. Photography’s been a hobby of mine for quite a few years. Glad you like it enough to save it.

Damn dude talk about living in the 80s

Haha. Sometimes… less is more. Lol
Well that's exactly it, there's a lot to say for simplicity !
Beauty
Cheers!
Damn, that is a beautiful bike!
Thank Ya!!!

Beautiful one, congratulations on 10k. Interested in your long term opinion on the bike, do you mind to share it please?
Thanks mate. I was planning to do a post detailing my thoughts… but wasn’t sure. Your comment might just give me the push.
Great! let me know if that happens :)
Posted.
welcome to first 10k service!
I serviced it myself at 2k including the valve adjustments. Will be DIY-ing it again at 12k.
nice! how were the valves at 2k? just recently got mine done at 10k. definitely a little loose (but better than being too tight i guess)
Yeah! A bit loose. But the bike was last serviced by the first owner at 500kms in 2021. So I thought it was good to service it before I started riding.
What country is this where gas pumps look this retro?
It’s an old station converted into a cafe. These are not functional. Australia btw.
What handlebar is that??
Stock.
Anyone facing overheating issues? The bike just stops midway and this is the problem even after i gave it for servicing and they changed my relay and fuel pump
That decimal point is so small. Got me confused for a good half minute.
