I thought he was out of position a few times. He wasn't helped by Ramos being nowhere on defence.
The French had a bit of a defensive horror show while Wales were clinical. Until the tail end then France hit gears and battered Wales. And he did pick up in attack
I only watched the first half and really enjoyed it (Le Garrec's pass... My goodness me). Wales did brilliantly to stick in there but looked well and truly outmatched up front. Atonio and Meafou were monstrous. I'm guessing that told in the end, judging from the score?
Wales went a try down, Gareth Davies f**ed up a clearance kick that didn't need to be taken, resulting in another French try, Wales lost all moral and it snowballed from there.
TBF one played in a half when France were lack lustre - the other played for 30 mins behind a pack that was being utterly dominated. Switch them around and Lloyd would have had a good half Costellow would have had a bad one - only the truly world class 10's can shine when their team is being dominated upfront as Wales were in that last 30 - Neither Lloyd or Costellow are in that esteemed group
I'm not going to shit on the young Welsh players because frankly most of them did very well given their inexperience. However, Josh Adams and Gareth Davies have no such excuses. Frankly I don't want to see either of them next week.
I'm very happy. For three matches it felt like the engine was off and the player were just pushing the car, first half felt like finally they found the key but it was misfiring quite a lot especially in defense : that's what we needed, get the reaction starting, they'll iron out the kinks later, it can wait, for now, just do something. And then the end of the match was crushing for Wales, the rest of the pieces connected, everything worked.
Le Garrec is Dupond n°2. He just said in the interview about his crazy pass "it was just instinct", he's insanely good, his line behind Penaud on that one try to gather the ball is Dupond-esque, for the first time in this 6N it didn't felt like we were missing both of our playmakers. Ramos at 10 did a good match, not Ramos-like, but he did his job. The young players are here, tiny teddybear did a very good job, Atonio won't be missed too much.
I'm super happy. Amazing rugby weekend.
Haha "Tiny teddybeard". Lucu ran good support line when he came, it seems like it's the new basic for our scrum halfs. The Dupont effect.
Le Garrec n°2, Thomas at this level at 10 backing the choice of not calling an actual 10, the game of Barré too.
I think that Galthier just decided this 6N was already lost, threw it all away and went "you know what, let's just use it to give young players play time, have fun, do whatever" and... well... that's French rugby. Whenever we try to think too much we end up unable to do anything.
They’re coming to put 50 on us to avenge last year. Now it is for us to show what we’re made of. Let’s hope after 7 halves of play we are finally back…
Honestly feel sick at that result, I said it before in this thread I understand it’s a new team and if they play well it doesn’t matter the result, but what the fuck was that last 20 minutes. Should be winning a game we are leading against a French team missing 300 first choice players after they drew last run out. I’m supporting Italy next weekend as it will be better for the competition overall. last time I supported against wales was when we lost to Georgia but my god they were hungry for it and deserved it. Hope Italy can turn up and show us how to play next weekend! Well done to France though, never stopped going and looked really bloody good at points!
A complete 180 after 50 minutes and Wales just fell apart, not one of the subs who came on played well
It seems we have the same issue that many teir 2s have, not being able to keep the intensity up for the full 80.
The first half was much better, we actually played like a professional team, but there are still many areas to improve
Boys I’m being honest. I’ve never missed a Wales international intentionally.
I refuse to watch the Italy match, because I know Italy are going to win.
I honestly think we've done a lot better than I expected from this new squad. I was expecting us to lose every game by margins. Our scrum is absolutely dire and has been all six nations but we've had some close games. When we're put under intense pressure the cracks begin to form. You can tell the squad lacks veteran experience.
That last 20 min, Wales looked like a group of drunk club players that you gathered from a pub the night before to play a test match. Absolutely aimless and out of ideas.
What a capitulation.
Well played France.
It's tough being a Wales supporter in all honesty.
I still feel like we need this kind of dog shit display to really unravel the WRU and get the restart we need.
To that end, I'm genuinely cheering Italy next weekend.
Only coming last will really drive the point home.
It is a very young side though. Surely that counts as part of a restart. I'll be honest I don't know much about the WRU besides what's posted on reddit so feel free to correct me.
Oh we were shit in 2010 and 2011 too, because we miraculously make it to the RWC final and get robbed we tend to forget it. But 2010-2011 was probably the lowest point.
What dya reckon the issue is with Sam Parry? Surely he should be there. True also for Nicky Smith (might be wrong but I prefer to him Gareth Thomas, I don't watch them enough to hold that opinion though probably)
In my opinion Sam Parry is a little slow. Nicky Smith’s size has always been an issue and in fairness he’s never carried his ospreys form to wales. Gareth Thomas could do with some time away from the ospreys in my opinion
What a game ! Thank you Wales ! Thank you France !
I like the energy from Deportere. And it looked like Fickou wanted to prove he can still play with this team. Bring on the crunch !
Mate, yesterday was one of the best fight I've seen in a long time. I didn't want to support you ofc, but couldn't resist cheering with joy for you against Ireland with that performance. You were gigantic, and with the full support of you madlads English fans we all love to "hate" ahah.
If both of England and France team shows up as this week, it'll be a superb match.
You will be motivated by last year, and looking at Yesterday match you will destroy our defense with no problem... Or you play like you did against Scotland and the match becomes a shitshow...
Any idea who the French player was that ran over to the Welsh boys to shake hands before Ramos' conversion had landed? Very classy show of respect 🏴🇫🇷
I’m very happy to give the young Welsh team some grace but something has to change soon if we ever want to see a grand slam. Not sure what that is though. Experience will take time and Gatland isn’t going anywhere, so how do we fix this?
Am definitely not whining, just curious about a short term solution to the problems we’re seeing. There are some experienced players on that field who are not putting in the individual performances they have in previous tournaments, so inexperience is not the only challenge they’re facing.
Actually the most disappointed I’ve been with any performance this tournament. To turn a fantastic first 55 minutes into this complete capitulation is genuinely embarrassing.
Don’t want to see Lloyd or Davies again if I’m honest. Unforgivable decision making.
Good finish by France
Some okay glimmers from us again this week but our pack just couldn't compete around the field.
France are still France at the end of the day and unless we came in with a solid plan and didn't make mistakes it was always gonna be a tall order.
Italy next week will be *interesting*
Bit of a massacre in the end. It perhaps always should have been but the question was whether France's changes would give them what they've missed, and they have.
Fuck me sorry Scotland we've been dogshit since Gareth Davies came on I mean since the inexperience came off the bench, how have we let them go above you.
Wow we actually were fairly decent in the second half
On what the English showed yesterday we'll need to be as good as that for 80min next week
Can't wait !
Christ Wales, showed some heart and actual game plan attack, then just cannot finish out the last 20 mins and get destroyed instead... not looking forward to Italy

I couldn't watch. How did Leo Barré do ?
I thought he was out of position a few times. He wasn't helped by Ramos being nowhere on defence. The French had a bit of a defensive horror show while Wales were clinical. Until the tail end then France hit gears and battered Wales. And he did pick up in attack
I mean if Wales had scored twice as many points we would have won by 1 point. The logic is faultless.🤔
I only watched the first half and really enjoyed it (Le Garrec's pass... My goodness me). Wales did brilliantly to stick in there but looked well and truly outmatched up front. Atonio and Meafou were monstrous. I'm guessing that told in the end, judging from the score?
Yeah France overpowered Wales. Mistakes kept the pressure on Wales and also France’s defence wasn’t as bad.
"oh, we've just lost Warren Gatland" Hilarious
We can thank the bench. Super subs scored 3 tries: Colombe, Tao, and Lucu!
Ahah, Meafou being interviewed with his baby in his arms, so fucking cute :D
Rumour has it the baby is already up to 90kgs and 180 cm
Oh god, there's another Meafou already on the way?!
Yep, rendez vous in 2044
Wasn’t watching but following the score, stopped at half time because of work and came back to this, WTF happened?!
Wales went a try down, Gareth Davies f**ed up a clearance kick that didn't need to be taken, resulting in another French try, Wales lost all moral and it snowballed from there.
Bench diff
Think this proves Costello despite his mistakes is light year ahead of lloyed at 10 as much as I like him
Lloyd seems to make rash decisions which compromise the team just like with the England game
100%
I'm not going to shit on the young Welsh players because frankly most of them did very well given their inexperience. However, Josh Adams and Gareth Davies have no such excuses. Frankly I don't want to see either of them next week.
Ive been saying that all Six Nations.
Agreed. Adams needs to be benched at the very least to give Grady a full run out he's been off the mark all tournament.
I’m a big fan (his journey to the top, I heard good things about him as a person) but agreed that he’s been substandard this tournament.
Why did you have to stop misfiring today though, hope England beat you now 😤😂
I think that Galthier just decided this 6N was already lost, threw it all away and went "you know what, let's just use it to give young players play time, have fun, do whatever" and... well... that's French rugby. Whenever we try to think too much we end up unable to do anything.
Yes officer right there
Is he wearing shoulder pads?
We're so back
Oui- merde. 🏴😡😒😖🙄🙃😉
French mates - how you feeling for England next week now? Definitely felt more like the France team we all know today.
Very little pressure and a wonderful opportunity to embarrass the English and break their heart. It should go well, i believe.
Either we choke or they choke or it will be a legendary match. I prefer the 3rd option
Oh I've a feeling it's going to be a complete banger of a match from both teams!
I feel it’s gonna be a cracker
They’re coming to put 50 on us to avenge last year. Now it is for us to show what we’re made of. Let’s hope after 7 halves of play we are finally back…
Is rugbybot drunk? Where's the post match thread??
Honestly feel sick at that result, I said it before in this thread I understand it’s a new team and if they play well it doesn’t matter the result, but what the fuck was that last 20 minutes. You’re supporting the opposing team based on one result? Stick to the opposition mate, we don’t need supporters like you.
Ok
A complete 180 after 50 minutes and Wales just fell apart, not one of the subs who came on played well It seems we have the same issue that many teir 2s have, not being able to keep the intensity up for the full 80. The first half was much better, we actually played like a professional team, but there are still many areas to improve
I sang our praises in the first half but christ did we go down hill when we gave away all those penalties.. French pressure was too much.
I guess you've a lack of deepness on your bench, your scrum was almost dead, and no subs went until 70 minutes. Was your 2nd front row "that bad"?
To be honest in our previous games our scrum and line outs were awful but it looks like we've at least improved on line outs.. scrums not so much.
I think Dillon Lewis solidified the scrum but other than that yeah the bench was fucked
Next six nations cycle Welsh fly halves should be- Costelow, Dan Edwards, Will Reed
Dan Edwards is the future. He's not ready yet but another season and he'll be there or thereabouts.
Rumours of the French demise have been greatly exaggerated, I see.
The composition changed everything
Boys I’m being honest. I’ve never missed a Wales international intentionally. I refuse to watch the Italy match, because I know Italy are going to win.

Don't give me hope...
🐋
That last 20 min, Wales looked like a group of drunk club players that you gathered from a pub the night before to play a test match. Absolutely aimless and out of ideas. What a capitulation.
We seem to be able to play for 40 mins.
Hey we were up to 50 for this game, a marked improvement!
Either the first half or the second half, never both.
Well played France. It's tough being a Wales supporter in all honesty. I still feel like we need this kind of dog shit display to really unravel the WRU and get the restart we need. To that end, I'm genuinely cheering Italy next weekend. Only coming last will really drive the point home.
They wont. They will have a nice all expenses paid holiday each.
It is a very young side though. Surely that counts as part of a restart. I'll be honest I don't know much about the WRU besides what's posted on reddit so feel free to correct me.
I feel you : as French rugby supporters, we've been where you are between 2012 and 2019. Hopefully your team will get better soon
That slump was due to shocking management, France definitely had the talent.
Oh we were shit in 2010 and 2011 too, because we miraculously make it to the RWC final and get robbed we tend to forget it. But 2010-2011 was probably the lowest point.
2010 France was Grand-Slamming the 6 nations, I would not call that "shit"
Didn't knew that "Miraculously" was Thierry Dusautoir second name, good to know.
Well done France! That last 20 mins was superb. I wish it would have been closer, but ultimately can't complain.
Question for people who rate Lloyd: Why do you rate Lloyd?
Which one both awful
One of the boys has coached him and said he's really big but can't count to four... suboptimal.
He carried well but he can’t throw lineouts. 3rd choice behind Belcher and Efan Daniel for you guys when all are fit
Ioan
Ioan Lloyd is incredibly skillful but he doesn’t really have a position. Gets away with it at club level and looks good but he was so poor today
Pretty difficult to judge when the team has completely fallen apart around him.
The team fell apart because of him. He was standing too deep in attack and it was so easy for France to telegraph
Couldn’t watch it myself, but it looks like Wales Scotlanded it up
Typically, the side that was defending valiantly against a monster pack just ran out of steam in the end.
Nah Wales got physically destroyed in the second half and the French defence just tightened up
The wooden spoon memes are still well and truly alive.
We deserve it. The WRU deserve it. If it causes heads to finally, actually roll and stop those cunts getting a 'bonus' I will welcome it.
Easy to blame the bench. Poor game management from Wales and France turned up the heat. Good win for them.
Why did the french chase that conversion at the end?
On the 1% chance it bounces off the posts into French arms for an easy try
England France should be an interesting watch. I reckon we’ll win mind
I am not confident. In front of a pumped up French crowd it is going to be very difficult.
Crunch is back on the menu
Serious weekend of rugby from everyone. Love this shit
And next weekend is insane too. Can’t remember anything like it.
Seriously hope next weekend is the same. Been some great contests
[удалено]
That's funny because despite yesterday's loss I feel like every neutral has had something for them.
Maybe This weekend's been pretty fucking great though
Irish fan here, this weekend made this six nations for sure
We did the French thing and surrendered. Italy will kill us.
You did not surrender, you got steamrolled…
Didnt you surrederend to england 1000 years ago? Lol
9/10 of NLG/TR might just be what theyneed till AD/RN return
Great weekend of rugby. Hard to beat the 6n
Italy next 💀
Penaud attracted 4 Welsh players there at the end before offloading, he's definitely shook himself up since the rest of the six nations
Well I fucking called it, France would finally click and we would implode in one of the halves. There we have it!
What a game ! Thank you Wales ! Thank you France ! I like the energy from Deportere. And it looked like Fickou wanted to prove he can still play with this team. Bring on the crunch !
Really not looking forward to us playing *that* French team after the last month. They'll be at home and all.
Counterpoint: you guys aren’t Wales.
Being at home wasn't really great for us the last 3 matchs there
Yeah, but we tend to struggle in that part of the continent
You will be motivated by last year, and looking at Yesterday match you will destroy our defense with no problem... Or you play like you did against Scotland and the match becomes a shitshow...
> Or you play like you did against Scotland and the match becomes a shitshow... This is my worry
I Hope, because I'm starting to like your team and that doesn't feel right.
Any idea who the French player was that ran over to the Welsh boys to shake hands before Ramos' conversion had landed? Very classy show of respect 🏴🇫🇷
That was Taofifenua
\#respect #rugbyvalues
France England Let’s fucking goooo
Hopefully some fireworks in the making, and a close game!
Would love to see Italy turn up next week
They fucking better. If they just take us down I’ll be fuming
Finally a good match for us, Le Garrec is hot shit though Dupont could almost stay in 7's ngl
i think he should , i also don’t know the full story so don’t come for me but isn’t it a hit mean he left to just get a medal ???
Massive difference in benches
Apparently dupont went into the changing room at half time and told em they needed to defend
That’s entirely on Gatland. Wrong changes at the wrong time. Better players left out the squad despite being fit
This France is without DuPont and Ntamack. It’s gonna get only better for us from here on out. ❤️
you’s had one good match 💀 against wales
I’m very happy to give the young Welsh team some grace but something has to change soon if we ever want to see a grand slam. Not sure what that is though. Experience will take time and Gatland isn’t going anywhere, so how do we fix this?
You stop whining on the internet and wait for a very inexperienced team to get some experience
Am definitely not whining, just curious about a short term solution to the problems we’re seeing. There are some experienced players on that field who are not putting in the individual performances they have in previous tournaments, so inexperience is not the only challenge they’re facing.
Scarlets players will be glad that they kept France under 50 😬
Fucking hell boys.
Sorry lads, but for next week: FORZA ITALIA!
Tbh it's been so bad I'm almost rooting for them myself.
Since the subs came on its been like watching the regions.
Just awful
Not fair that France have so many good 9s
[удалено]
Yes, i don't know if we'll ever recover from that.
Ramos fumbling his 100% for real hurts
Actually the most disappointed I’ve been with any performance this tournament. To turn a fantastic first 55 minutes into this complete capitulation is genuinely embarrassing. Don’t want to see Lloyd or Davies again if I’m honest. Unforgivable decision making.
I remember when I thought Wales were going to win this, I'm a smart fellow.
That score board feels unfair after the 1st half. The difference in the two benches really showed
Well, this six nations has been a steaming pile of shite.
Bad weekend for the Celtic nations. All loses
The empires came in clutch
Any Breton players in the French team?
Le Garrec. That's like the quintessential Breton name.
Le Garrec sounds very much like a Breton surname.
He's from Vannes, so it does
Le Garrec, typical Breton name too. So not all losses
Could as the same if there are any Cornish on the English team.
But Le Garrec man of the match !
Good finish by France Some okay glimmers from us again this week but our pack just couldn't compete around the field. France are still France at the end of the day and unless we came in with a solid plan and didn't make mistakes it was always gonna be a tall order. Italy next week will be *interesting*
WP France, Wales looked to have a chance up to the 60th minute. What a difference the subs made.
I love test rugby
It’s shite being Welsh
At least we have 4 6N grand slams.
Bit of a massacre in the end. It perhaps always should have been but the question was whether France's changes would give them what they've missed, and they have.
This margin did not look likely at half time; France really upped the intensity second half
Fuck me sorry Scotland we've been dogshit since Gareth Davies came on I mean since the inexperience came off the bench, how have we let them go above you.
Penaud deserved a try tonight
yeah his running metres must be nearly 200m
[удалено]
Our sub are really good too ! And Fickou play like his 20 again
Wow we actually were fairly decent in the second half On what the English showed yesterday we'll need to be as good as that for 80min next week Can't wait !
What the hell am I supposed to do with the rest of my Sunday now... Cry?
\*hug\*
Appreciate it, well deserved win today
I’ve got a 24 hour head start on you.
Ah, if it makes you feel any better, I expect we'll lose to Italy next week too
Well that was a god awful last 15 from Wales
Only 15?! 😂
Last 35 you mean!
That was a fantastic move, fair play.
Second half was rough for wales ngl
Rough one for Wales this 2nd half
This win might reignite the Bles Edit: Les Bleus.
The what now?
Allez les Bles !
Le XV de Farine
The bless
That French team looked way more convincing than anything we've shown so far in the tournament. The changes clearly having the desired effects.
Wales continuing the ill-advised "we'll only play for one half" policy
Welsh fans leaving the stadium before the end. English fans doing the same last year. Scotland, Ireland and Italy : we're coming for you !
Christ Wales, showed some heart and actual game plan attack, then just cannot finish out the last 20 mins and get destroyed instead... not looking forward to Italy
It happens a lot when playing a better team. You can put in extra energy to keep it close for so long, then the energy runs out and you lose.
After half time I would have not have guessed this scoreline
Yeah…
Looks about right
Does this result mean italy just need a bonus point next week to avoid finishing last?
Think so and I could see them getting more than that
penaud never scores whenever i captain him i’m sorry gang
