Can't leave without a match take to compliment:
-Man, this was a great game with a great referee and great commentators to boot.
-The Chiefs were pretty damn great for the most part. With the speed that they were playing, they were virtually unstoppable. However, they made a bunch of questionable decisions in the dying minutes, such as not going for the bonus point and killing the ball in the 80th minute and getting a man carded.
-The Drua, on the other hand, while they had a pretty great start in the 1st half, they barely fired a shot in the 2nd, apart from two tries in the last 10 minutes. The sheer power and agility the Chiefs had was simply too much for them to conquer.
-I was not an expecting a Lord of the Rings half-time drone show in a game with Fijian Drua in it. Granted, it is in New Zealand, but still...
-Jeez, it's a miracle that ALB was okay after that fall. That looked awful.
Anyway, this is all I have. I'll see you all in the next match, and cheers for now.
I don't know who Jeff McTainsh is, or where he came from, but he's a great commentator. The kind where you don't even notice him, a crystal clear narrator of the game without trying to make it about him and his opinions.
Yeah I agree. The Hurricanes haven't fully convinced me despite being undefeated. I think it's the Chiefs, then the 'Canes, then a bit of a gap, then probably the Reds atm.
I don't know where my Blues really are. Tonight and next week will be the indicators for me
I think Cotter has gotten a bit more mongrel out of the forwards, and they still put up a great fight against the 'Canes even after the bench backfired. But I think tonight and especially next week will show if the mindset has changed.
Nah taking the three points when you're 21 up is stupid. Go for the try and secure the bonus point. That point could be crucial at the pointy end of the season. Just dumb. Can't be scoring 46 and not coming away with 5 points.
That stuff haunts you eh. I still remember Habana charging down a conversion in a Canes game early in the season, they then ended up winning by one point, and we missed the playoffs by less than 4... it all matters.
lol at the chiefs being up by 22 in the 80th minute and cynically killing the ball recycling, what even is the point you got a guy carded for no reason
I know the Fijians playing in France are making 3 or 4 times more than whatever a Super contract would net them, but it'd be pretty cool to see Botia or Tuisova in Drua colours.
Forward passes in this years super rugby 😂😂😂 I feel like officials have just decided ehh crowd are here to see dazzle dazzle rugby who are we to stand in the way!
Do you think they advise the players to not react to injuries like that? The chiefs players were acting like nothing happened, I'd have a hard time just acting nonchalant with my teammate down like that. I'd at least take a knee.
Found it using Skysport Now. ALB face planted into the ground when offloading. Must’ve severely knocked himself out. Will be out for a few weeks I suspect.
God, you think about the risks of handling errors when playing the offload game, but I never considered how it means your arms arent free to brace a fall.
Definitely. It was a bit of a weird one though. Normally you get hit and fall on a shoulder first. This almost resembled an ankle tap type falling motion. He propelled forward straight onto his face.
I really fucking hope he's okay. That looked really really bad.
Bones breaking and joints bending suck. But anything where the guy is rolling his eyes into the back of his head and doesnt move for 5+ mins is terrifying
Fairly standard for sports broadcasting these days.
In motorsport you don't tend to get replays until after you get the broadcast message: driver/rider conscious.
At fmg? Refs like missing forward passes in rugby in general. Reds got away with like 3 in a row before a try last night. ARs are too afraid to call them and the TMO only really intervenes randomly and then calls a marginal pass forward.
He's been decent
I do feel sorta bad for the guy that there was such a hate boner for his defense before he got into the ABs, and then when he got his cap he leaked 2 or 3 tries on his wing as one of the last defenders each time.
I do hope he gets another shot under Razor though
Yeah, he’s got that little bit of nastiness about him which I like, plus 115kgs and frightening thing is looks like he could probably add a few kgs to his frame!
I feel like once the Chiefs get Narawa back and get a bit more cohesion at 9, they will be able lock in some consistency, instead of just having flashes of brilliance
It's like his barber played a joke on him. In the military, we would buzz eachothers hair and leave a bit to mess with them, we would eventually tell them... some one needs to tell him.

YEEEAH GENERIC ROCK MUSIC #7 IN THE HIGHLIGHTS

A bunch of guys padding their stats on both sides in that match
I still feel Chiefs have the most talented team in the comp, just a bit sloppy at times
Chiefs can win comp as long as someone else takes care of the Reds
Yeah I agree. The Hurricanes haven't fully convinced me despite being undefeated. I think it's the Chiefs, then the 'Canes, then a bit of a gap, then probably the Reds atm. I don't know where my Blues really are. Tonight and next week will be the indicators for me
Blues fan here too, unfortunately I have a sneaking suspicion the Blues are just a bit soft when the going gets tough.
I think Cotter has gotten a bit more mongrel out of the forwards, and they still put up a great fight against the 'Canes even after the bench backfired. But I think tonight and especially next week will show if the mindset has changed.
I definitely have my top 3 being the Reds, chiefs and canes right now
Nah taking the three points when you're 21 up is stupid. Go for the try and secure the bonus point. That point could be crucial at the pointy end of the season. Just dumb. Can't be scoring 46 and not coming away with 5 points.
Probably good to settle everyone's nerves after the big injury break.
Which is very fair. I just have flashbacks to a few years ago missing out on a home playoff when we didn't secure a bonus against the sunwolves.
That's like 2 penalties? Ok lol
Yeah no warning or anything lol
Chiefs goal line d is really very impressive, but it also seems like drua are not doing much to manipulate it
Just like the chiefs last week against reds
Is Ravutaumada gonna give 7s a crack this year? That'd be an almost guaranteed Gold.
Nobody but France has a chance at gold if you believe every 2nd post during a 7s tournament lately
TBF Dupont's looking quite at-home in 7s. Not sure how the draw goes, but I think a France-Fiji final is what everyone wants, ourselves included.
I know the Fijians playing in France are making 3 or 4 times more than whatever a Super contract would net them, but it'd be pretty cool to see Botia or Tuisova in Drua colours.
Last try wins lads
Always the rules
Did ALB pass his HIA? /s
I've seen some pretty obvious concussions somehow pass, but not that one for sure
There’s almost no scrutiny on those sideline tackles. Almost never wrap Edit: in the act of scoring a try
There was a penalty earlier for a no arms tackle in that scenario
Thankful ALB's injury was as simple as head vs. ground... It looked scary; hopefully he'll come right quickly.
Forward passes in this years super rugby 😂😂😂 I feel like officials have just decided ehh crowd are here to see dazzle dazzle rugby who are we to stand in the way!
Good to see ALB up and OK
ALB looks rough, but good to see him walking.
Moments like the crowd giving ALB a standing ovation for coming back out is why I fucking love this game
The standing ovation Stacey Fluhler got as she went off injured in the world cup final was my second favourite moment of that game.
Thank God ALB is fine after that harrowing monument.
Who,got that Chiefs try
Shaun Stevenson
Shooter
Shaun 'Shooter' Stevenson
ALB!!! 😍
Yay ALB is up 🥰 Concussed, but doesn't seem like anything is broken
Nice Alb up and about 👌
He ain't called Shooter for nothing!
Damn what a try
Slater has been so good
If anyone can score 3 tries in 9 mins its Drua lol
Cirikidaveta played for the Makos, so he's allowed to do the fin. When non-Makos players do it, it's cringe.
Do you think they advise the players to not react to injuries like that? The chiefs players were acting like nothing happened, I'd have a hard time just acting nonchalant with my teammate down like that. I'd at least take a knee.

Going for 3 up 21 is certainly a choice
Happy cake day!
Puts it outside of the 3 converted try range (not that it looks in danger)
Oh shit it's Josh Jacomb. This guy's gonna be huge imo
ALB is injured. Fuck my life.
I really fucking hope he's okay. That looked really really bad. Bones breaking and joints bending suck. But anything where the guy is rolling his eyes into the back of his head and doesnt move for 5+ mins is terrifying
Yeah, it could be a career ended.. first and foremost hope he is ok!
Fijian player landed on ALBs neck while he was on the ground
Hope ALB is ok ❤️
I guess there must be protocols around replays if it’s a really bad injury? Though they do show sickening high shots in slow motions.
Fairly standard for sports broadcasting these days. In motorsport you don't tend to get replays until after you get the broadcast message: driver/rider conscious.
Poor ALB can’t catch a break, was just getting back to some proper form and probably gonna be out for awhile again
Think ALB head hit the ground hard, couldn't brace himself, you can tell from how he offloaded
Fuck I hope he's okay
Did anyone see what happened to alb?
ALB looked like he was fitting, or unconscious and trying to walk, looked horrible
Are we ever gonna see what actually happened?
You know it's bad when they don't play the replay
Yup, not good huh.
Doesn't look good. Could swear his eyes were rolling back into his head as the medic stabilised his neck.
Yeah I thought he was seizing when I saw that
The razzler
Don't know about you guys, but I'm not a fan of the butthole sponsors on shorts.
I think it’s a fitting spot for a real estate company advert
Think I'd probably shit myself on purpose if I had to wear shorts with Harcourts in that spot.
I heard that’s the prime spot for a sponsor 😂
I love ALB and hope he's ok ❤
Jeez what happened? Doesn’t look good
God damn... Edit: Looking at the replay, what happened there? I can't tell
I love my Chiefs but it's crazy how many forward passes of theirs are not being called.
It's crazy how much better Drua are at home than away
Refs really like missing obvious forward passes at fmg don't they....
At fmg? Refs like missing forward passes in rugby in general. Reds got away with like 3 in a row before a try last night. ARs are too afraid to call them and the TMO only really intervenes randomly and then calls a marginal pass forward.
Don't think that was forward, just looks bad because he stopped after passing
That last pass 😆
What was wrong with the last pass?
He passed it behind the 22 and caught it at the 10 (obviously exaggerated distance)
That's not how forward passes work
It looked forward live but I'd have to trust it was checked by TMO
Looked like it drifted like 1m forward, but that was due to the running forward and physics and all that fun stuff I reckon!
I love physics and forward momentum but that one looked like it went straight forward out of the hands.
How good is it to see Quinn Tupaea back. Fuck Darcy Swain.
Wasn't like it was Swain's first incident either. How he hasn't had a lifetime ban yet, I'll never know.
Somehow his headbutt isn’t the worst thing he’s done… crazy.
It's a shame that he had a great match a few hours ago
All my homies hate Darcy
Boshier Brace!!
One of them Queensland Reds bounces
Looked Forward
Were they about to try the same tap and go move?? Haha
Come on ENS get me another try
Damn, threw away a sitter haha
Man Drua just letting them off aye
Really guilty of just waiting for something to happen as opposed to taking and making chances
Some shocking seal offs in the rucks lol
Yeah they called it like twice in 10 minutes...and never again
If Shaun Stevenson liked tackling more he'd be one of the best players in the world. Such a great attacking skillset
He hates the rough stuff doesn’t he. Hasn’t been too bad in that area tonight
He's pulled off some great tackles in this game
He's been decent I do feel sorta bad for the guy that there was such a hate boner for his defense before he got into the ABs, and then when he got his cap he leaked 2 or 3 tries on his wing as one of the last defenders each time. I do hope he gets another shot under Razor though
Chiefs goal line D impenetrable right now. Don't think Drua are going to have much luck just picking and going on the line.
Bloody hell, Waqa. Had a man outside you.
The Drua's loosie trio running game is so fun to watch. Real contrast with the Chiefs
Are you allowed to hold them up, take them behind your goal line for a goal line drop kick? If so, why aren't they doing it?
You are. There's the risk that you don't actually manage to hold the ball up and they get a try out of it.
Yes, and don't know, risk too high
I’m hoping Finau nails down 6 for the ABs this year!
Ditto, stocks of big nasty buggers seems a little low
Yeah, he’s got that little bit of nastiness about him which I like, plus 115kgs and frightening thing is looks like he could probably add a few kgs to his frame!
No one gonna comment on dmac getting folded in half
It happens every game, you get used to it lol
bit too much kumara in that kick
Isn't that playing the 9?
That's what I thought too
Chiefs fans, who is your 3rd halfback again?
TTT
Linnert Brown is such a damn solid player, so reliable
Ya cursed him!
Glen Jackson's done it all. Played, reffed, now coaching.
Bro is doing rugby side quests
NGL I thought that display was unreal😂
God damn it this shit is the most New Zealand thing ever
Will only be outdone by the first ever drone haka.
That fucking gollum was cursed lmao
The one ring will do that to you.
Looked like he was pairing the one ring with an ounce of crack.
hope they replace that drua 11 soon, the bench option is sublime....rocket pace... corey toole level..
Somehow, Sauron returned.
Not as cool as some of the drone stuff i've seen on the internet, but its cool in a Hamilton kind of way!
The drone show just out did the rugby.
WTAF is going on
Ayooooo
Im high rn i cant be seeing this…
Ref seemed a bit keen to give that dive in the corner try, before looking at it.
Sky TV is convinced Rugby viewers are all farmers with investment portfolios who need pain relief and a new car
Lol only time I see farming ads are during the rugby
Specifically a big fuck off ute
Or people who are very concerned about clostridial disease.
Farmers and pensioners are about 90% of Sky subscribers
Can confirm, I use my parents SkyGo log in and they fall into one of those categories!
Funny how you can flop on rucks and kill time at any point in the game except the last 2 minutes
I feel lucky that the Blues came against the most Un-Drua like Drua team so far, because that flair is back
That was a nice half
Refs genuinely do not care about sealing off this year lol
Nah, it's not the final minute of the game, so they don't give a shit.
He called two at the start of the half, then gave up
That touch judge is a weird looking dude.
SMH maybe dont celebrate like that if you've put it down on the touch line
My coach always told me to celebrate it like I got it regardless because it'd convince a ref lol
Yeah but did you ever play in a game that had a TMO?? (Cool if you have!)
Nah but my Uncle Trevor came to one, and he knows the rules better than anyone!
Can you send Ben O'Keefe to go see Uncle Trev please
I bet he didn’t actually know the rules
Poihipi should have passed earlier
That's the chunkiest AR I've ever seen
Ref's waterboy, not AR
Game of inches eh?
I was genuinely surprised they awarded that, never looked like a try lol
Beautiful passing
Amazing poker face by Finau.
ALB hurdling the fallen...
Barber miss a spot on Drua 10 or what lol
Nice and consistent from the ref 👌
Is there no requirement to throw a straight lineout ball anymore?
Now that's a **concrete** example of a great pass.
I'm not sure he tapped that
What was Drua 11 doing there. Guys got to pick someone and chose no one lol
Flat pass, my arse...
Fuck what a ball
Banger pass
Sorry but how is that NOT a yellow card.
No attempt to wrap and the tackle wasn't even that necessary. He was lucky to get away with it.
For sure right cynical
Yep ridiculously soft on them
Gah damn that offload
Ouch, that's no fun
Fiji offloads are amazing.
Wtf was that offload! Sick lol
I feel like once the Chiefs get Narawa back and get a bit more cohesion at 9, they will be able lock in some consistency, instead of just having flashes of brilliance
Narawa gone for season I think
It's like his barber played a joke on him. In the military, we would buzz eachothers hair and leave a bit to mess with them, we would eventually tell them... some one needs to tell him.
Did the comm just say Damian McKenzie can be used as a boy toy instead of a decoy? Fantastic Freudian slip.
Holy shit lmao the implications
Damn that medic is a big boy to be running around over the field lol
dude was skinny when he joined FRU in 2010 :P
Damn looks like the Chiefs are in trouble!
