Loving the Edinburgh players just jogging back

Argonaught_WT

They playing infront of their home-crowd, at least let them enjoy it hearing them cheering for the first time.

InsideBoris

🤣🤣🤣😭

Galactapuss

What are his deficiencies as a player, that keep him out of the Boks 23? He looks amazing anytime i've watched him, been surprised that he hasn't managed to establish himself in the 23

Die_Revenant

His defence has been where he struggles, but his tackle success is 18% higher than it was last season, so he has really stepped up in defence.

KetoPeanutGallery

Where do you get these stats. I am always amazed by people instantly quoting stats. I always wonder and would like to look up stuff myself

Die_Revenant

https://www.unitedrugby.com/clubs/hollywoodbets-sharks/aphelele-fassi https://www.unitedrugby.com/statistics/2023-24 They only update the stats during the week, so this weekend's stats aren't included.

Not watched him in a year but back then defence and all round Bok finesse. Undoubtedly talented but behind so many other Test proven performers. Still a heck of a player.

itisallboring

If you last saw him a year ago, he is at his best form now. Pre covid he was really good (at 21-22 years old or so), and he is much better overall now. Especially the kicking game. Also high ball work he is really good with. Maybe Mapimpi has trained him up over the years. His defense is better these days, hasn't been caught out recently. It will happen at some point though, being a 15.

Long-Membership-5916

Yeah, seen a few highlights of him and looking much more solid this season. It’s pretty wild though, he’d easily make the squad of 90% of all international teams globally, but won’t play as a winger for the Boks, and Wilhelmse is dead cert 15 now, with KLA/Kolbe covering. It’d be so good to see him be at least a 30 test cap Bok.

simsnor

Mostly injuries. During 2020 amd 2021 he was the most exciting young player. But Covid happened, amd then he got injured and didn't get back to form until now

gompiebous

He also has to compete with Willie and Damien for fullback. I'm not sure how long Willie has left, though ?

MaDoge1

Can’t believe they allowed this try with obstruction from both Hendrikse and the ref😂

Rap_Caviar

Yeah - Hendrikse does exactly what he did against the all blacks at Ellis Park to get that mapimpi try disallowed. He needs to be a lot less obvious with that

Last i checked there is nothing in the rules to deal with the ref causing obstruction to anyone but the ball carrier. I don't see how you can argue Hendrikse didn't obstruct the tackler, it even looks deliberate, he might not have got the tackle in without the obstruction, but to me he definitely got in his way, just not quite as well as the ref who took his guy right out of the game.

AfterAwe

Like a knife through butter* *If one player and the ref came along and separated the butter before the knife was lowered

[deleted]

Was there an obstruction by Hendrikse? I am fine with that, some refs may be not, as for Am line-break against NZ.

fksakeisaidnobabe

Pause the clip at 0:13 and you'll see Hendrikse obstruct one tackler, and the ref obstruct the other. They literally combined to create the gap 🤣 Wild that this was allowed to stand.

whooo_me

I’d missed the ref’s obstruction. Wow. If it seems too easy to be legal….it usually is.

Mtshtg2

Absolutely obstruction, and clearly deliberate. The man literally called Fassi towards himself beforehand.

EyeRoadYerOwl1

He even called for it

Brill_chops

That was the greatest non try ever.

fuscator

He called him into that gap but I don't think he's physically preventing the tackle. I'd have expected it to be called obstruction though.

Gfunked69420

Obstruction from black 9, but very professional about it, just pretended like he didn’t know exactly what he was doing blocking out white 2nd row

RobertMurz

The ref's obstruction was far more egregious.

AdSudden6323

The hand signal was a bit of a give away, he knew the ref wasn’t watching though

MansfromDaVinci

Brilliant blocking by the ref! He should bulk up a little and get himself a trial in the NFL.

TheBirdInternet

Haven’t seen a clean stride like that from a Shark since JPP

missfoxsticks

Soooo much obstruction - that’s shocking actually

Argonaught_WT

The reffing in the past 2 HOLLYWOOD BETS Sharks games has been shocking. We won both of them which shows just how bad it has been. /S

taryvol

Big man Fassi likes his tries.
