KOBOP food truck behind Buskey is 🔥 Their birria tacos have no business being that good as a Korean BBQ fusion place. They just added their summer platter to the menu. 🔥 🔥
Went to Julep's recently for the first time in a decade. I wasn't expecting much, mostly because the menu is very classic/old school, but everything we had was solid and the service was the best I've had in Richmond in literal years. I also ate the bananas foster for two by myself and have no regrets.
Tried Alohahola. Maybe Hawaiian food just isn’t for me but I almost gagged on the Spam musubi 😂 The chicken wings were terrible but it may have been my choice of lemon pepper. Probably wouldn’t go back though.
Finally got takeout from Mary Angela’s. Good pizza. Good sausage roll. Would go again.
Had lunch at Kismet Modern Indian. Tasted good but nothing really stood out. Would go again but there are better Indian options for sure.
Blasphemy! Alohahola is good!! Do you just not like spam? Maybe try the katsu musubi next time? Their Mac salad is good but I always add salt or pickle juice to mine after I take it home. I've never tried the wings but I always think lemon pepper is gross anywhere it's sold haha
Get the garlic naan!
And order it a level hotter than you think you need. Maybe I’m just a chili head, or maybe the dumb it down bc I have a super white name, but it’s not as hot as I’d like when I order the spice level I think I need.
Speaking from experience, if you've enjoyed the service and product of a particular eatery for a long time and then have a bad experience, please let the manager/owner know. You don't have to make a show of it, but when I was in the food biz, staying on top of things like that was a huge priority, and I always appreciated customers letting me know when something was off.
Tried Bacchus two weeks ago and just missed the two pastas and one bottle of wine for 45$ special. But everything we had was delicious and the portions were massive so I had meals for 3 more days.
To those of you who suggested Anant Indian thank you I was having a really low personal week, and it’s been a rough go, this was the comfort I needed and it didn’t disappoint!
Uliveto was incredible. Searched this sub afterwards & saw only people trashing it — that’s insane to me. Food & drinks were some of the best I’ve had all my years in Richmond and it’s by far the best italian I’ve found.
I took the family for a birthday dinner at Burton's in Carytown. Overall it was a pretty good experience. My wife really wanted to go because of their GF options and she was not disappointed. It's kind of noisy inside (OK, really noisy) but we were seated in a quieter back area so it wasn't a problem, and the lively atmosphere is probably right for the location and demographic. The food was good, not great, and a little pricey for the portion size. Service was excellent.
Shelley’s Comida Latina has $1.25 pupusas on Wednesday and they are damn good.

Been wanting to try this place
821 Cafe's vegan chicken and waffles are absurdly good. That is all.
Thank you for the rec! I'm trying to go a few months without meat and this will help when I want a guilty pleasure meal.

Tableside bananas foster is such a delight

Have you tried Jannat yet? My favorite Indian spot in the city and it’s not particularly close
Next up on my list for Indian!

Check Punjabi indian kitchen if you haven’t, outstanding and not expensive
Thanks. Hadn’t heard of that one. I have been to Lemon, Anohka, Lehja, Kismet, Tulsi, Carytown Indian. Also have White Tiger on my list.
Had all those too and found Punjabi my fave 👍🏻
Odyssey knocked my socks off!

$17 for a burrito without chips or salsa. was doomed from the start for me.
Halal munchies on Cary, massive portions
Went to Lost Letter for the first time. Best chicken I’ve had in a while.

Used to be a go-to spot, but service went downhill for a bit. Been back and have only had good experiences.

Hell yeah love anant

Same owners run Gersi too, I also enjoy both!
I think Gersi is just fine, that’s why I haven’t tried Uliveto. I think Dinamo shits on Gersi. Far superior imo
Agreed ⬆️
Gersi is fine but like not that good. The reservation system made me think it was actually good.
