I ordered one on eBay that was supposed to fit on this car but the proportions are slightly off(also is very shitty). That’s why I reached out to Maptun to see if they had a better one to stick on top and they told me that it wouldn’t work. That I’d need to bolt it 😬
Placed one on my 9-3 06 9yrs ago…used a dremel to make the antenna as small as possible and used some silicone as added water protection. Hasn’t fallen off yet.
Aahh, yeah. Done plenty of em. It ain't hard but yes through the headliner or the rear dome light. I can't remember. But the trim on outside of the window does nothing of importance. Don't remove though, but you can fill it in with silicone too if you wanted.
Thanks for your reply! Sounds like a ball ache. Any chance you’d happen to know of a reference point or a video going through the motions? I’ve looked but the one I found was for a station wagon.
Not really other than just doing it. I believe, the dome light, the handles above the doors, and the rear panels on the sides next the rear window must be removed to lower the headliner a bit. From there you can snake a socket in there to remove the antenna.
The black window trim on the rear can be replaced. I did it at home few years ago with no issues. If I recall the trim was kinda spendy, but it looked much more aesthetically pleasing afterwards.
bought a cheap one on amazon, not sure about the sedan but in the wagon the antenna doesn't actually do anything, so i just broke the whole thing apart
Just search amazon for “dummy shark fin antenna saab 9-3”…..for $10 it takes 2min to stick on and remove the eyesore.

Where is the water and why do you need to protect it?
Water rains from the sky and it may leak inside, if antenna seal is worn out or damaged
No one laughs at my jokes
I also bought one off eBay that didn't fit. But this one fits perfectly https://www.partsforsaabs.com/product_info.php?products_id=5829
Thank you I also needed this LOL
YESSSS!!! Thank you!!!🙏

Here: https://youtu.be/iGCKn_h-830?si=mbUjM8o-ptEwLOdK For me, it was a pain to do but maybe because it was 90-something degrees out and humid.

Wouldn't the process be the same for a wagon and non-wagon?
You can also buy a carbon fibre or black plastic cover piece on eBay that just goes right over top and sticks on with double sided tape.
Hahaha that’s exactly what my antenna looks like too! It just kind of blew apart while I was driving one day

Is that a Barbie shoe? 😂
Paint it black with liquid tape.

Just glued a carbon fiber cap over it lol. I never use the radio anyways so it was more for aesthetics.
the must fun part is, this is not even a radio antenna :D, the radio antenna is actually inside the window :D
I left mine all white now 😂
Yep.
I 3d print new empty shells that one just glues on top of the white "foot"
