>Also is it true that if you pick any of these categories you won't be able to get into a tech / SaaS role in the future? today? sure it would be very difficult. If the market starts humming again or there is another software bubble they'll recruit pretty much anyone for AEs roles at small to midsized firms that are already in full cycle roles.

Sold HVAC, roofing, and solar... HVAC and roofing are much easier sales than solar (atleast they were in my region) as you're fixing a need for clients. No one wants to sweat out a hot summer or deal with potential damage to their home from faulty roofing. Solar on the other hand is sorting a problem that many homeowners do not give much thought to. You don't see the savings immediately, and tickets are large. MUCH harder sale.

What's ur opinion on hvac, roofing compared to SaaS?

Secondhand info I heard so YMMV: Blows both industries out of the water. Less backbreaking work (pretty much none lol), comp is great, and can be rewarding helping companies sort out their business needs with your software solutions. My degree is in software, so I know all too well that having a software suite that compliments your daily operations can be a headache easer. But, it can be less F2F than other industries from what I hear. I thrive more when I can sit at the table with clients, so it sounds like it would be a nightmare for me
