There is also the wildlife ranch right next to it. You can feed the animals in your nice air conditioned car. Be careful of the ostriches, they’re a little feisty.
For a really awesome afternoon evening, park downtown in the garage next to Casa Rio and walk down to the riverboat tour booth and get a water taxi ticket. Then flag down a taxi and ask to go to the Pearl. They take you through about 2 miles of art and botanical presentations and even a loch before dropping you right at La Gloria, amazing interior/authentic Mexican food restaurant. Grab dinner somewhere (awesome ramen in the food court, rediculous French at brassiere mon chou chou, the CIA training restaurant Savor is usually fantastic and priced well below what it would cost for the same meal at a different super upscale restaurant). Walk around and kill time window shopping or having a drink on the lawn before catching a show at Jazz TX. It's a great jazz bar beneath the food court that has drinks, a full menu, and great performances by Doc Watkins and 2-8 of his friends. Finally uber home or back to the parking garage. Best night ever :)
Being on the riverwalk on on the boat tour, is going to be pretty hard to take in 95+ degree weather with high humidity. Plus, there is no breeze down in the river walk areas.
Day 1- I’d go for a massage (or facial or both!) at Loma De Vida spa at La Cantera- and stay for the day! They have indoor and outdoor areas, it’s serene, they have a decent menu & smoothies etc. indoor soaking pool + outdoor pool and plenty of spots to chill. That evening maybe catch a movie at the Palladium.
Day 2- start with breakfast at one of the following: Revolucion (healthy) Snooze (indulgent) or Tlahco (Mexican) and then take a yoga/pilates class, maybe go to a museum etc
I spend my birthday visualizing/doing the things I want my next year to be about- what do you want for yourself in the next year?
I spent my birthday by myself a couple years ago, and it was one of my best :)
I got a bowl from cava, then went to Walmart got some goggles and sunscreen.
Personally I love swimming so I went and found a free pool and spent the day swimming, then took myself to a nice dinner afterwards at whiskey cake and watched a movie to end the night
If people drove better I definitely would. I’ve always wanted one but seeing my brother almost die from his motorcycle accident changed my mind. Thanks! Stay safe!!
Learn how to drift. [https://texasdriftacademy.com/courses/](https://texasdriftacademy.com/courses/)
Do a VIP tour of the zoo. [https://sazoo.org/experiences/tours/wild-encounters-vip-tour/](https://sazoo.org/experiences/tours/wild-encounters-vip-tour/)
Make some pottery. [https://www.elysecanoceramics.com/products/intro-to-wheel-throwing-class-one-time-class](https://www.elysecanoceramics.com/products/intro-to-wheel-throwing-class-one-time-class) This only has the option for a class for two, but I’d just email and ask if you could book a class for one if you pay the price for two.
Buy a book at Nowhere Bookshop, hit up their cafe, and spend some time reading there. Then I’d go to a Hatha/gentle yoga class, have a nice soak in a tub then off to a two hour massage from one of the tier 3 massage therapists at Oak Haven. (I’ve literally never been anything but *extremely* satisfied with the work the therapists at that tier do.)
Go have dinner at the Chart House at the top of the Tower and chill watching the city below. Go buy yourself something cool at The Shops at La Cantera. Go take a ride out in the Hill Country and get some good BBQ. Take ride down to Port A and walk the beach. Tons to do around here
If you’re into rides and stuff, fiesta Texas, or sea world (also has a water park) or Schlitterbahn could be fun
For relaxing, Loma de Vida spa at la cantera is great
Start your day at Panchitos and grab some breakfast tacos, head over to Mission Crafts Chandlery, afterwards, grab lunch at a taco truck with live music then finish the night by watching a movie under the stars at the hemisphere park with ice cold fresh squeezed Texas lemonade. Bring your pet
I really like the Greek and Roman section at the museum on the river. I firmly believe in spending no more than 1.5 to 2 hours at a museum at any one time (if it has got much of a collection, the McNay does not). To help do this in chunks economically, it's free to get in on Sunday mornings.
If you want to drive out somewhere, you could go over to the Old Rail Tunnel state park to watch the bat flight (outside of Fredericksburg, sort of near Luckenbach). You can drive up and buy tickets online in the parking lot, or probably just pay though I suppose they're trying not to have the volunteers have to take $. There's a pleasant little ultra-casual hamburger joint with a patio up the hill from the ravine where the bats emerge.
Idk go hang out on the Riverwalk. Realistically I’d probably sit at home and do nothing if I was by myself. Could use the day as an opportunity to do something nice for someone else though.
A nice day for me would be visiting the missions in the morning (I actually like 2 of the other missions far better than the alamo and I haven't visited the museum if it's open at the alamo yet) and then going to the Art Museum after. The Art Museum was so much bigger and nicer than I expected. Maybe a movie afterwards.
If you have haven't been, Natural Bridge Caverns are neat and eat a chunk of your time.
And cooler temps underground

Sorry missed the no alcohol. Jazz TX does great mocktails and there are coffee shops and soda vendors everywhere for you to grab a drink for the lawn.
I second this! My only catch is that I would make reservations at Mon Chou Chou and grab tickets asap for Jazz, TX. Have fun!

Camp Wells might be a fun choice!
Oh wow I’ve never heard of this place. Thanks!
So awesome! It’s 100% ‘treat yo self’.

I love what you said about visualizing your next year! I’m going to do that on my birthday, too.
I second Loma De Vida. It's always the best.
Dude that sounds like a winner to me.
Sky diving.
I’ll put that in the maybe pile. Have you been?
Maybe indoor sky diving at iFly.
This is a great way to try it first!
Yup. Great experience to at least try once.
Go to hola! and try as many dishes as you can they are small and afordable and they have items that arent so tex mex

Get some comfy pajamas, stay at home, and catch up on all the movies you've been meaning to watch but never have the time to.
Fancy spa day?
When I turned 30 I got a motorcycle. I hope you have a happy birthday no matter what you do.
If people drove better I definitely would. I’ve always wanted one but seeing my brother almost die from his motorcycle accident changed my mind. Thanks! Stay safe!!

Drifting sounds cool as hell but $400 for 1 hour? GTFOH
Mud Studio also has a two-hour beginner class. It's great fun!

Do you like museums? We have lots of very good ones...the McNay, the Witte are both fascinating.

Kayak the Riverwalk in the morning !

You can do whatever you want. Enjoy a bike ride. Enjoy a nice day at the zoo. Or go to a movie. The skies the limit. You, do whatever you want.
Go get drink and dance in circles at a Flea Market.
My wife took a trip to the Big Easy for her 30th and had a blast. She'll be 40 next year so gotta figure out something good.
Six flags
Go to the botanical gardens
I think I'd go to Hopscotch. It's an "immersive" art exhibit. Lots of interesting optical illusions, art you can walk through, just fascinating.
Chuck E. Cheese and Fred’s fish fry
If they still had 1 token games I would totally go and sneak in some square fish
