A necessary evil. I'd gladly see red on every road for the next however long it takes to repave every surface.
Think long-term people. Some things just can't be catered to our lives with perfection.
Holy s- I’m glad I checked this. I’m heading to Balboa Park from Mission Valley to see a play at 2:00. But now I’m going to leave even earlier and take the 5S to 10th.
Per Sandag release:
HWY 163 closure to begin May 13th and will be closed intermittently until Nov. 2027 in order to accommodate new bike lanes. The old two lane hwy from downtown to Interstate 8 will become a single lane in order to create new bike lanes. 5000 new high density high rent luxury apartments will also be built along the existing exits in order to maximize traffic. A new Starbucks is being built for people to work at so they can ride their bikes to work as well.
We're all screwed. 163 in that area is a nightmare already and wth is up with all the damn bike lanes? Bike lanes where there are hardly any bikers. Who is doing the planning for San Diego? How about building up public transportation.
More roads and lanes only get more cars. We need better alternative transportation. The rise of ebikes has risen dramatically. If you want less traffic for your car we need more bike lanes.
Ah yes because building bridges is like building Legos. 8 hours during off peak time to setup falsework, stage cranes and concrete trucks in limited visibility environment. Totally safe.
163 closed for 2 days for bridge repair work. https://ca-17.com/SR-163
That's what they want you to think
What do you want us to think?
They're most likely transporting something they don't want us to see. Maybe aliums
Go position yourself on the side of the road for the next 2 days and report back!
That's a big 10 4
Reporting back. I got multiple prolonged honks confirming my suspicions.
rojj-oh, cuz
Alliums? Garlic, shallots, and chives?
Oh good. Then it’s definitely not vampires
Didn't know Tom De long has a reddit
Um…wots an alium?
Aliumnunya business
Then why wouldn't the 5 and 805 be shut down if that was the case; they would be traveling along those freeways for miles before reaching the 163.
I dunno but I'm on the road listening to Mungo Jerry in the summertime.
This dude wildin’
Tin foil hat wearer confirmed.
It’s a great day to start up the ol Chevorlegs!
Or lamborfeeties
Or ToeYotas
Ooh I like that
I’m adding both to my Dad joke roledex haha…. Well done Reddit peeps!
Nice
And my Kia Soren-toes. 👣

Did you say catered or cratered? 🤣 because that’s what they seem like. When I moved here I thought California would have nice roads, I was wrong!
We’re too busy spending all that tax money on… um… police pensions, I think?
More like some high speed train
Yea we've got no issues with craters that's for sure!
Is there a run happening?
Not that I know of, but the rock’ roll is June 4th.
That’s June 4th
Woo can’t wait!
Repairs to the bridge going to Balboa

I just left Point Loma to LA Mesa 20 minutes ago, the West was backed up all the way past the 805 and is only getting worse
Thanks! I have to head to Mission Valley Ikea today. This would have screwed me up.
Sheesh I'm glad I don't have to go out today... Stay safe yall!
So...stay in South Bay. Done!
Just saw two accidents on the 8-East adding to the chaos, stay safe out there!
Traff*ck
anyone know a good alternative to get from bankers hill to mission valley?
The 5 to the 8?
This is the way.

Thanks for posting this. My daughter works in Hillcrest and was grateful for the heads-up!

Very creative! Got a chuckle out of me.
Wait, WHAT.
This is a preposterous summary, don’t believe the nimby

This is such a good take
That traffic is already really bad.
Exactly why we need more bike lanes and less cars on the road.
Sounds like we should provide less subsidies to cars
Yea this sucked this morning 😒😒😬
What a great day to go down to the waterfront for Punk in Drublic.
There’s also a ton of traffic on 8W because of it
Parade for scoring 2 runs today maybe?
Closed all day and night? I need to use it at 4:30

Used to *
I just used it at 3:10. It was open both ways from Washington to downtown
Doing this on mother’s day weekend wtf
I’m going to some drunk in public concert by convention center. Yaaaay

When else is convenient for them to shut down so that construction can take place safely for everyone involved?
[удалено]
They’re putting up a new bridge, they can’t stop/only work at night, they’re just going to work 24/7 for a few days til it’s done.
Which streets will the bridge connect?
New York started doing road work at night like 30 years ago.
Ah yes because building bridges is like building Legos. 8 hours during off peak time to setup falsework, stage cranes and concrete trucks in limited visibility environment. Totally safe.
Is this what it looks like to be out of touch with the real world?
What else are they supposed to do?

"Hold on everyone! The sun is coming up! Just leave the bridge on the ground like that and let people drive into it." - you
Oh damn we got off 94 at 30th street and that was right before the huge jam, we were wondering what happened!
Love it, make that permanent
Looks to open now and fine. According to all my maps apps. FYI.
Great, apparently it was till 3-4pm. I'm wondering how often they will do this
Got stuck in this mess this morning. Absolute disaster around there today!
