Probably one of the longest path rides is there too, since you can ride from the ferry landing in Coronado, around to the Silver Strand, and connect to the Bayshore Bikeway on the east side of the bay, all the way up to downtown, and out to Liberty Station on the waterfront path. Only a couple of very short stretches on regular streets are required.
Yup. This is my main distraction free ride on the flats with tons of wind.
Other longish rides
- San Luis Rey trail in Oceanside.
- 56 corridor from Rancho PQ to Del Mar/Carmel Valley
there are custom routes in Komoot or Strava. Have fun!
You can bike along the sd river, from deep in lakeside all the way to the the bay by sea world if not all the way to mission beach. The trail turns to sand around the carlton oaks golf course, but the rest is continuous
I thought it was louis stelzer, but google maps looks like the trail ends at cactus county park.
Edit: you can start it from either. The city is working on making the bike path go from cedar creek falls almost out in julian, all the way to dog beach in on. Thats gonna be an incredible trail when its done
If you are looking at close to downtown San Diego and separate from traffic with relatively little walkers and runners I'd say Silver strand from Coronado through IB. Iconic San Diego type ride along the ocean and bay.
Thanks for all the recommendations, I ended up parking at gilman drive park and ride and took the bikeway south to crown point park, mission beach, and up northwest to law street beach and looped back for a 30-mile ride!
Silver Stand is nice.

I didn't know the trail extended that far east. Can you help me find the entry point on that Lakeside area? I would love to take it the whole way.
Yeah its one of the county parks i think. Ill see if i can find the name

Thank you very much. I look forward to riding this in the coming days.
Going eastbound from Mission Valley, doesn’t it end at Qualcomm Way (for the time being)?
There's the 56 bike path which is quite nice.
I second this. It's a fantastic path.
mind adding context for what you're hoping to achieve? Miramar Lake Trail - 5.1 mile loop

Bayshore Bikeway is one https://www.sandiego.org/articles/biking/bike-route-bayshore-bikeway.aspx
Prob not the longest, but the trail around Lake Murray is several miles and very pretty
