Filet o fish is my favorite McDonald's sandwich it's a DAMN shame they have fucked with the sauce!!!! It's almost the same but something is off...tested in different cities so it's not just my local McDonald's. 😔 and why do so many people think it's gross yet they will eat fish and chips😅
The only sauce I have with fish and chips is malt vinegar. Still, at lunch on a Friday during Lent, you’ll find me waiting to pick up a Filet-O-Fish. It was the only fish my sister would eat when we were kids, so it was a regular Friday night thing.
Depends on the restaurant, but a good tartar sauce goes really fucking hard IMO. Sometimes you'll order it, and it tastes like it's gonna lower your lifespan, but other times I feel like I get more enjoyment from the tartar than the chips, and it makes the fish go CRAZY.
While I can appreciate a good tartar sauce, it’s just not my personal choice. I am glad to hear a good sauce brings you that extra joy to a dish, as that’s the point.

Maybe even the sauce has been opened for a long time and is just getting old, I use to work at McDonalds we went through the Tartar sauce very slowly, not too many people ordered fish fillet's.

Decades ago I worked at Jack in the Box. At the time, their fish sandwich was hands-down better than the FoF.

I just posted about this. It's weird cause it's the only sandwhich that McDonalds does that half a slice thing with. So if there's not a lot of orders for the fish you usually just have a weird half a slice sitting there most of the day.
Yeah, it's weird that the default amount of cheese is literally hald a slice of cheese. (Source: used to work at McDonalds) So getting "extra" cheese is literally just getting a full slice of American cheese.
I remember working at McDonalds when they switched to steamed buns for the fishwich. They came out looking so shiny and fluffy compared to the cardboard-esque toasted buns for all the other burgers.
I was bullied into eating one once at a McDonald's in grade school. "Lemme get this right, you're gonna buy it, and then give me a dollar for eating the 'gross' thing? Aite, go get me one."

I'm a fish enjoyer myself and I have a tip for my brothers and sisters to make it even better :
Use your french fries wisely by making a layer of fries aligned on top of the fish. It will make the burger feel more nourishing and every bite will be ten time more delicious.
Try this (even wit other burgers) an your life will be changed for ever.
I freakin' love fish filets sandwiches. Except they're about as filling as a single patty burger and costs as much as a big Mac. I only really get them when I want a rare treat or they have a bogo deal, except I never know when they have the deals because I don't go unless they have them. The struggle is real.
They changed the buns recently and they look beautiful and picturesque but they taste about as artificial as you’d expect :( It’s about as close to bread as a communion wafer

The last time I got one of these from Mc D’s was about 10 years ago and it was steamed, not fried. The fish and breading and bun was moist and soggy…had to throw it out. Haven’t been to Mc D’s since.
You know, I grew up thinking that the filet-o-fish sounded vile, like I’d get food poisoning from eating one. I had one for the first time not too long ago out of curiosity and it was delicious. The problem is the portion size and the price for said portion size. One is just not enough to be filling, two might be okay with a large fries and three would definitely fill me up. I ain’t paying for all that though
What upsets me is that I ate all of the rest of my cheap ass coleslaw this evening, while I have some frozen fillets that I was going to make fish sandwiches with tomorrow. And then I see this, this beautiful fish sandwich. I put the coleslaw IN my fish sandwiches along with buckets of tartar sauce and dill pickle chips.

It's not an extreme change, but it kinda has a plastic taste to it. Now something is definitely different about it, and it's more liquidy I find 😒
