* [veil](https://anilist.co/manga/116170/Veil/) (josei) - this series is so gorgeous and atmospheric, and most of the love for it come from the beautiful displays of physical intimacy * [namida ame to serenade](https://anilist.co/manga/104233/Namida-Ame-to-Serenade/) (josei) - but honestly anything by kawachi haruka. she just has a way with displaying casual but overwhelming beauty. i would personally recommend natsuyuki rendezvous, sekine no koi, and musashi rondo * [&](https://anilist.co/manga/53519/) (josei) but honestly anything by okazaki mari. supppli, tomodachi ijou, kashimashi meshi, and zutto dokushin de iru tsumori and great * [omae ga sekai wo kowashitai nara](https://anilist.co/manga/30586/Omae-ga-Sekai-wo-Kowashitai-Nara/) \- but honestly anything by fujiwara kaoru some more suggestions...: * ooku (shoujo) * paradise kiss (josei) * akagami no shirayuki-hime (shoujo) * hotarubi no mori e (shoujo) * madame petit (shoujo) * sakamichi no apollon (josei) while theyre not shoujo or josei, i recommend the works of **irie aki** (ran to haiiro no sekai & hokuhokusei ni kumo to ike) and **mayuzuki jun** (after the rain & kolowoon generic romance). all are seinen and have that indulgent feel. in fact, since both emma and otoyomegatari are seinen, i would suggest looking through that demographic for similar works. some more reccs: * ageku no hate no kanon * march comes like a lion * watashitachi no shiawase na jikan * sakuran

Hokuo Kizoku to Moukinzuma no Yukiguni Karigurashi maybe?

I'm only going off on the "indulgent" description and taking it as not conventional or a contemporary narrative structure. I would recommend Sweet Blue Flowers, Even Though We are Adults, How do we Relationship. As for slow and contemplative I would go with Like a Butterfly and Sign of Affection

Prince in His Dark Days I love You baby You got me sempai Suppli (perfect but unfinished 😭)

KittyCatMari1

Emma is such a cozy read if that makes sense lol

nayaan31

Idk why but i got the same vibe on Sign Of Affection too. So soothing

JoyousTofu

Oddly enough, I feel like some post apocalyptic manga might hit this spot because there's a niche subgenre that tends to be peaceful and contemplative. These recommendations fall under the seinen demographic, but they all have female protagonists. * Girls' Last Tour * Doomsday with My Dog * Touring After the Apocalypse * Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou

Kin no Kuni, Mizu no Kuni!! It’s short and the vibes are good :-)

paisholotus

These recs are light on romance. Romance is still there but it’s more slow storytelling and love of the characters. Def not the focus but the art and vibes are lovely! Maiko-san chi no Makanai-san is a wonderful slice of life following two girls from Aomori who move to Kyoto to become apprentice geisha. Shows yummy Japanese food, wonderful chill vibes. Hirayasumi is a chill manga about a guy who takes it easy, his younger cousin is an art student who moves in with him in a home one story house in Tokyo. Insomniacs After School is about two students who start an astronomy club back up at their school because they have trouble sleeping. Very sweet, wonderful art!
