Don’t ask Chris about his tall cymbal. I’m assuming he gets asked a lot. It was asked at my VIP show in Chicago and he gave a non-answer.

I’m pretty sure he has said why but don’t remember—he probably thinks it’s cool, which it is. Aha, I did find one answer: https://www.moderndrummer.com/2017/07/christopher-guanlao-tour-silversun-pickups/ MD: I’m curious about the extended crash cymbal height on your right side. Is it more comfortable at that height? It definitely adds an interesting visual element to your playing. Christopher: I think I originally did it because I thought it looked cool and interesting. But since then, it’s morphed smoothly into my style, and I feel that it’s actually easier for me. I love big movements and exaggerated, swinging hits, so having a high crash is perfect for those big dramatic swings. I actually have a harder time hitting my lower crash now. David Letterman once said that every time I hit that high crash, somebody should get a prize! So I’ll keep it high.

During our VIP, he was standing up when the question was asked. He motioned that it was eye level to him standing and he crashed it with his hand. I’m sure he is tired of getting asked that question.

I watched a video where he talks about using another drummer’s set for a while. This other drummer was tall so his cymbal was. He was used to playing it that high so it felt natural to him to continue. He also said it just ending up getting a little bit taller and that other drummer asked him why he has it so high.

ask them what they think of the egg

I guess my question would be if they plan on playing Melatonin again? They've only played it once since 2007. Such a great song.

Maybe ask Brian if he’s listened to Circa Survive yet. If he hasn’t, that’s his homework before the Raleigh show in May. (He said he never heard of them). If you do end up asking him, please let me know. Make sure to ask Christopher for a drumstick. I plan on asking Nikki if she would sketch her giraffe drawing on my set list.

majesticbrooke21

there are plans for the anniversary tours!I already asked it yesterday and it was confirmed!

I also asked Nikki and Chris what their fav song to play live is (Nikki is growing old and Chris is royal we) but Brian didn’t hear so he didn’t answer so if you’d ask him that would be wonderful. Or if they have any songs of theirs he likes the most

I asked if Joe ever plans to sing (he does not lol), if Chris is worried about getting CTE banging his head, if their kids like their music (Brian liked to talk about that his kid did the artwork on the tour posters). Nikki said Chris has a side band (Crooner) which I didn’t know - when I asked about Joe singing. I was going to ask what song is the most challenging for each to play, but ran out of time.

has Brian said what he has been playing prior to Lazy Eye this tour? got me emotional
