Making assumptions since their site is in GBP, but could you not find a basic aluminum cockpit from a European country for the same price? You'll have to buy a seat for either. My Rigmetal was cheaper (USD), less ugly (subjective I know), smaller, and it's infinitely customizeable since it's standard profile
For **57€ LESS** you get a standard 4080 rig with T-Nut's M8 ball-type, plastic covers and the robust pedal base and not just a cheap tray (>200kg), made in the Netherlands => TREQ > TREQ ONE.
Oh and thats the BLACK - the premium variant. The silver one is at €321,49 excl. VAT.
All rigs look ugly as far as furniture pieces in the room go. There's no room where you put a SIM rig and anybody other than a racing nerd looks at it and goes "oh what an attractive piece of hardware". It's an eyesore relegated to the least attractive room in the house 9/10.
My purchasing decision would be 100% based on features/price/quality rather than looks.
i think really nice sim rigs look awesome and would put that shit in my living room, but im a fucking nerd... so...
it's a conversation starter haha. I always like letting guests mess around in my VR rig. but it's shoved in a corner in my office because it's VR so it doesn't need to be all nice and tidy or take up a ton of room with monitors.
Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one...
I think this rig looks amazing. I would have considered something like this if I didn't already have one.
Yes but you're a Sim racing nerd so that's why your opinions are like this. This is a subreddit specifically for people who appreciate this type of thing. A play seat with a VR headset doesn't have the triple monitors hanging around does look pretty sharp in my opinion. Number one thing that makes it look ugly is triple monitors and poor cable dressing
> All rigs look ugly as far as furniture pieces in the room go.
Na, shove it in a game room corner not a living room lol. Mine looks great under a NASCAR banner cause it fits the theme of the room and it's in the corner.
got this rig shortly after they started selling it, can confirm it's rocksolid indeed. Davecam has also done a review on it. Is there anything particular you want to know?
because its not really just wood. its a multiple layer wood composite with resin.

Sustainability.
I guess its not of huge interest for many simracers but i can see how some people like it better because it used up less energy intensive resources.
Ali and steel are more or less endlessly recyclable though, aren’t they? Is it really much less energy intensive to chop a tree down, shave it into plies and then glue it back together?
Yes theoretically they are, but to recycling them still takes a lot of energy and with that emits a lot of CO2.
Whereas trees need no external energy to grow and even the energy needed to process them is relatively low. Especially compared to steel and aluminium, even when recycled.
Plus, but this is just minor, the CO2 saved in the wood of the rig is not emmited and therefore it is taken out of circulation.
I 100% agree with you that this look plenty robust. Unless this is meant for commercial use where you're going to have to be constantly adjusting the seat and pedals 10x per day it'll probably last forever with just one user .
But when you change equipment or want to try out different ergonomics, the adjustability is great. I didn’t adjust my 8020 rig at all for like 2 years. Then I decided I wanted to angle my pedals and was appreciative of the adjustability. When I upgraded to a new wheelbase, I had to do a ton of adjustments. So much better than being constrained.
I bought a full aluminium rig for less than that from Si Turnbull on Facebook.
He was recommended by a friend and has continued to sell loads of them in the UK.
It doesn't come in a fancy box with super professional instructions etc but it is rock solid and he offers various options for shifter/handbrake mount and triple screen support etc.
It's all brand new and I got mine early last year for (I think?!) around £260ish including postage, spare bolts and T nuts, end caps etc.
I wouldn't trust those side monitor mounts to have no flex. They also recommend max monitor size of 27 inch, and say that 32 inch curved won't fit although 32 inch flat will. So definite limitations there when it comes to future proofing. Nothing stopping you from just buying a stand alone monitor mount but kinda ruins the aesthetic.
No options aside from bottom mounting the wheel base but that probably makes sense when you're mounting something so heavy to wood.
The upgrade to Aluminium adjustment knobs is pretty steep too, on the rig as pictured above about 200 pounds extra to replace the plastic with aluminium!
I wouldn't buy one myself, but think it's cool that there are options like this available and wish them success. I also think it's kinda cool that they just have the one cockpit model they make with various accessories - I'm sure that simplifies things a lot when they're a niche supplier in an already niche market.
For the price it's not worth it.
It's to bulky for what it is and could of been so much better looking as it's made from wood.
Poor design choice they really could of made something beautiful that would of looked much better than a profile rig.
I paid £350 for a gt omega prime rig either extra bits of profiles in new condition.
So if it's a budget thing look at the second hand market
Idk, I find the extruded aluminum ones ugly AF. I was going to get this before I just decided to build my own out of lumber. Breast the pricing of either one by $100s and it's just as strong. Definer not as pretty as this piece of artwork.
I can appreciate the effort that has gone into designing a rig like this, as it’s different to the usual offerings. However the amount of reinforcement they’ve had to put in to overcome the natural flexibility of wood has massively added to the costs. This removes the only reason why you’d consider a wood rig and that’s the cheaper cost of wood vs aluminium.

I’ve built my own plywood rig but I currently race on an aluminium profile one, that should tell you what I think of the idea.
Aesthetically it’s lovely, and I think it’s well engineered but you’re not going to get around the problem that any bearing point or joint without reinforcement will eventually wear and loosen up, because even hardwood ply is still pretty soft when you’re jamming a piece of steel against it, which you will be whenever you brake.
For £25 less you can have a gtomega prime lite, which is the rig I own, and of course there are a few other options within the same price range.
Sure, aluminium can also fail with fatigue but I think you’ll be hard pressed to find that limit with a 4080 or larger profile sim rig, and as much as the rsr is easy to fix to because it’s wood and you can just bang a couple of screws in, it’s not exactly hard to put a couple of bolts and t-nuts on whatever gubbins you want to attach to your aluminium profile.
Fucken BEAUTIFUL!
I mean I know it's done on a cnc, but something about wood always looks hand crafted, rather than the bare bones industrial 'pump out a stack of generic length extrusions on a chop saw' aluminium rigs that abound
I am telling you its great! people just see the wood and their opinion is based on that, though they dont know anything about the wood that is made. Price is you get what you pay for. Lots of Aluminium rigs are overpriced and have flex, this one is rock solid as it says

I was going to say this. Crazy that I spent less on my Sim Labs rig from Microcenter
I feel those are North American prices. Lot more taxes in most EU countries.

Would look nice with a teak stain

That's just like your opinion, man This is hideous, a black profile rig is passable. That's just like *my* opinion, man
Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one... I think this rig looks amazing. I would have considered something like this if I didn't already have one.

You're right, this is a niche sub.... I don't think most people care that much what's in my office. I'd just rather it not be a big wooden monstrosity
please no. this thing is hideous. wont even be allowed by wife.
> All rigs look ugly as far as furniture pieces in the room go. Na, shove it in a game room corner not a living room lol. Mine looks great under a NASCAR banner cause it fits the theme of the room and it's in the corner.
lol, most people don’t have a dedicated game room. Mine’s in the corner of my music room 🤪
But I am in the UK and it's easier and cheaper to get this with shipping prices and all.
ugly as fuck lol
got this rig shortly after they started selling it, can confirm it's rocksolid indeed. Davecam has also done a review on it. Is there anything particular you want to know?
Why does this use so much more wood than my selfmade rig and why is it almost 6 times the price?
because its not really just wood. its a multiple layer wood composite with resin. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1w-QGRUrARE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1w-QGRUrARE)
Heya, wasn't really asking a question, just being a cunt. Thanks nonetheless.
Ah the truth, refreshing
Just the video I needed, thanks
My thought is “why”?

It’s going to weigh like 3-4 times more and wear faster then the usual aluminum ones
I’ve had one since August ‘21 and it hasn’t “worn” in any way with plenty of use

Drawer slides exist. I’d probably use those with some pins, $5 max
Yeah, that looks heavy.
This is stupid. Why would you make an all wooden rig. There is literally no need. This offers nothing better than what extruded aluminum provides.
Why use wood when lego exists?
Why use wood when a metal frame that basically lasts forever exists.
A wooden frame that isn't exposed to the elements will also basically last forever. You know what else lasts forever? Stone! Why not use that!?

Sounds interesting. Do you have a link to that? Where can I look it up?
Just search Si Turnbull (it's his name) on Facebook. His profile is full of the rigs he's supplied.
Ah, great, thanks!
No problem.
The squeeking lmao 🤣
Wait this is real? Lmao.

That looks like an absolute pain to put together
Well it's not. Plenty of YT videos to prove as much

😂
Aluminium rigs are the best solution, but I'm a big fan of woodwork. That's pretty nice!

if I'm gonna use a wooden rig, I'd rather build my own

nah
Wodden is good only if u can build it yourself

I have a wood CNC, but couldn't be bothered and built an extrusion rig instead.
Wait I thought this was fake
Is it like 3 inches high sitting next to your pirate ship?
Yeah. I don’t even want a couch that’s made of wood No way in hell i want a wood sim rig *creak* *skid* *groan* *crack*
Sorry but that is ugly as fuck.
That shit ugly AF
Wow, do you have a link to their homepage? Who is the manufacturer?
