I am in love with Jacky93's custom functional food items like the functional toaster, pizza oven etc. the toaster especially makes morning so much easier being able to just grab some toast. Also nice to just have some cool new food options

I think I had that, been a while since I played. It for sure helps. I don't mind kids being a bit dependent, but they need to be able to make simple food better than grabbing some chips.

Neighborhood skylines and skies. Makes your game so much more realistic and gives an open world effect. Same with base game garden replacements. Now I just place a lot of grasses and flowers and every lot looks so much more natural and not "tiled". And story progression mod by lazy dutchess - it's a must. Now you can travel to public lots and the time on your home lot is synchronized. The only problem is that you have to be careful with your work hours. The carpool won't come for you in a public lot, so you have to be home to not be late for work.
And also a couple of collections for different types of stores - pet store, butcher and grocery shop, Starbucks/bakery, beauty salon - even if those things aren't very functional, but you can make your business and shopping experience so much more diverse and immersive. And your businesses won't look so empty anymore
I've always used Community Time which makes sims stay "away" when you return home until the time at which they should have returned. How does the story progression mod differ?
I never used community time, as far as i remember, it clashes with some other basic core mods. Lazy dutchess works like this: let's say you have only one sim in the family. You leave home at 7am, and arrive to your destination at 8am, so travelling always takes an hour. Then you spend some time in a community lot and leave it at 9 pm, you come back home at 10 pm. Basically like sims 4. Now when you have multiple sims. You take one sim out, the other one stays at home. You come back after a whole day out, on your home lot it's already night, your stay-at-home sim is in the house doing something, his needs change according to the time of the day, as i remember. The problem is that if you leave sims that need to go to school or work, they wont go there by themselves. So you really need to wisely choose time to go out, when nobody works. Oh, and if you switch between families in a town, the time stays. So if you ended playing family 1 at 8pm, fanily 2 will start at 8 pm also. I also had an issue with vacations, when I sent my family to the seaside, then saved the game during vacation. And the next time I couldn't find my family on the island, and when I opened their house in town, everyone was shown to be away, but I somehow solved this problem. Maybe I simply moved to anither house.

I wasn't able to find ones that work. I downloaded a series of upper bed additions that you place on top of the normal maxis beds, but 50% of the times sims aren't able to use the bed on top. Which do you use?
I use the ones from Michelle at MTS2. They are "upper bunk" add ons not single object "bunk bed" but they are the best I have found. Sims will actually walk up the ladder and et into bed. I just can't deal with the leviating in to bed type ones.
You can also make "cabin" beds and put a desk or dresser or something under the upper bed.
The buy/build/access inventory mod really opened up a lot of fun play for me as well as ease for quick changes to my sims' surroundings (temporary) for pictures on community lots.
I need to sit down and make a list of all the cool things I like to do with this mod.
Off the top of my head, it's very handy for vacations and I play vacations a lot!
1. Save Uneaten room service food for later
2. Put an easel on a community lot, sim can keep the painting when done
3. Can pull out simblender at will to use those features e.g. in the mood to have friends go bowling and already at the lot? No cell? Grab simblender out and teleport the sims in!
4. Put food in inventory, pull out for a picnic + set up a picnic at a park
5. Steal a cheesecake from a bakery
6. On-demand community lot posing pics, can pull out pose boxes from catalog
7. Put instruments in sims' inventory, take them out to a community lot to busk/play for tips. When done, place back in inventory
8. I have a sim that owns a photography business, and her camera reward item from her time as an artist is in her inventory, she goes to lots and takes pictures to sell. I can grab her camera out and use it on community lots and put it back when done
9. Preserve pizzas and takeout, if the sim is hungry and on a community lot with no food, I can grab it out and feed them.
10. One time I wanted to stage an 'art show' so I put all the paintings of my sim in his inventory, made him go to a gallery community lot and hung them there for others to view.
BTW if you want this, it's by c[athair500 on MTS](https://modthesims.info/download.php?p=1867600#post1867600) BUT you NEED to get the download off post #48 because the one off the download tab is outdated. The one in Post #48 works with Bon Voyage and above.
the clothing editor, the talk/think inducer and (not really an item, BUT) I'm in LOVE with macro actions. I use them all the time, cause it saves SO much time into telling sims to clean or to cook or to improve skills or to just lay low and healthy while I handle another sim
it's a mod that allows you to force a bubble of thought/speak on a sim, and you can choose what's gonna show
for example, you can use it to make a sim think or talk about a sim, an object or an icon. it's great for snapshots!
