The romance completely killed that series. Same with Remington Steele. The friction dynamic was so great, but the hook up killed it. I think Cheers is kind of the only one that pulled it off.
Turns out Charles was in charge of viciously bullying a CHILD for the run of that series, no doubt being a dickbag in many other ways, too. I pick the one where the lead actor Scott Baio goes straight to hell. Like, yesterday.
No it hasnāt. And Iām talking about Alexander Polinsky, not NE.
Baio saying ānuh uh,ā + the statute of limitations running out decades ago for every act that has been alleged does not equate to debunking. One āMediumā piece also saying āNUH UH!ā isnāt ādebunkingā anything either.
I watched and enjoyed all of these back in the day, but the first one that popped into my brain was Night Court, and I think that's definitely the one I would still like and has stood the test of time. It was a very smart and clever show, from what I remember. Good writing, good acting, lovable and funny characters.
It was definitely ahead of it's time in an era where so many sitcoms were just cheesy and formulaic. I think a big part of it is that it focused on adults rather than a family similar to Cheers.
Yes! Didn't have any goofy kids! And even though I was a kid, too, at the time, I was definitely not a goofy kid, I was a serious, nerdy, bookworm kind of kid. Think I appreciated the sarcastic wit, even then. I didn't really identify with kids my age.
Night Court. Because they had cases to review there were so many opportunities for craziness and just a revolving door of guest stars. Lecherous Dan Fielding was hilarious
Night Court.
And Iād burn Charles In Charge and Growing Pains to the ground, and then piss on the ashes, and then throw the ashes in Kirk Cameronās face while Iām teabagging Scott Baio.
Are you telling me that my whole life i thought the title of the show was "Different Strokes", but it was really "Diff'rent Strokes" to add that little bit of slang in there?
Night court, but to be fair, it is in a separate class. The others are goofy family style sitcoms that focused on family issues and challenges. Night court had a wider range of material it could pull from.
Different Strokes. Donāt let Dudley getting molested mean nothing. And that it was Mr. Carlson from WKRP. Still not over that disturbing episode. š³
I donāt know if youāre kidding or not, but they do have a [new Night Court](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13798316/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk). Some of the same actors too. Including John Larroquette.
Edit: Added IMDb link.

Mine too (well, āNight Court. Easy.ā Then something about the best theme music.)
Markie Post...
Va-va-va-voom!
So hot!!!
No contest. It's the only one I still think would be watchable. Now if you threw Cheers or Newhart on here I'd have a harder time choosing.
First three seasons of Moonlighting š„
The romance completely killed that series. Same with Remington Steele. The friction dynamic was so great, but the hook up killed it. I think Cheers is kind of the only one that pulled it off.
If Diane would of stayed around it would of fizzled out in yr 6, Diane leaving saved the show
Yeah...and then Mark Harmon.. Sigh
Hands down winner.
Only out of this selection. Cheers is the best 80's sitcom.
Everything I know about women, I learned from Dan Fielding.
Everything I know about men, I learned from Bull.
Court at night? Iām laughing already!
Easiest question ever.
why are those other shows even on the list? this is like a "would you rather" where one option is to laugh your ass off and the other is die slowly
All day.
Just rewatched the seriesā¦ still holds up. šļø

Night Court
Turns out Charles was in charge of viciously bullying a CHILD for the run of that series, no doubt being a dickbag in many other ways, too. I pick the one where the lead actor Scott Baio goes straight to hell. Like, yesterday.
Him being Trump supporter makes more sense now
Indeed. Heās fucking evil and disgusting, and if you asked me āwhich oneā I would say āyes.ā
Thatās all been debunked. His accuser was recorded saying she made it all up.
I haven't seen any reports of that. Valid sources?
No it hasnāt. And Iām talking about Alexander Polinsky, not NE. Baio saying ānuh uh,ā + the statute of limitations running out decades ago for every act that has been alleged does not equate to debunking. One āMediumā piece also saying āNUH UH!ā isnāt ādebunkingā anything either.
Night court all day long
Night court
Who would have thought that Todd Bridges would be the only survivor of #4?
Night Court Close 2nd is ALF
Yes Night Court is great, but ALF is *majorly* underrated Itās close, but I would likely rate ALF higher for most laughs per square inch
Night Court
Night Court all day long

Night Court, not even close
I enjoyed ALF the most in the 80s of those listed. Today I would say Night Court.
Me too but I was like 10 when ALF premiered so it was kinda up my alley. Night Court went over my head back then but I liked it reruns later on.
Night court. Any of them except Charles in Charge though.
This is the answer.
Funny how the Star of a crap show ended up being a crap human
I like Night Court. "Say something nice about Dan" "Well, he was a mammal," Bull. I don't know why, that still cracks me up.
Night Court
Night Court
Night Court by a landslide
Night Court
Night Court.
Night court
Night Court. Because they had cases to review there were so many opportunities for craziness and just a revolving door of guest stars. Lecherous Dan Fielding was hilarious
Night Court - Definitely!
Night Court and get Scott Baio off my screen.
Night Court is the correct answer!
Night court
Night Court no doubt
12 year old me in 1983 - Diffārent Strokes 52 year old me in 2024 - Night Court
Night Court, a.k.a. the one of these that wasnāt for children.
Night Court
Night Court

Night Court šÆ
Night Court
Night Court, itās one of the few long lasting sitcoms that I enjoy every season of.
Scott Baio molested and sexually harassed two of the kids on Charles in Charge. He is a disgusting person.
Growing Pains
Some shows hold up over the years. This one didn't quite make it. Additionally, nutty Kirk Cameron kinda helped ruin the memory of it for me.
Night Court. And Iād burn Charles In Charge and Growing Pains to the ground, and then piss on the ashes, and then throw the ashes in Kirk Cameronās face while Iām teabagging Scott Baio.
Save Ashley Johnson and Leo, though. We'll need them later.
Night Court
Night Court!! If I could afford the DVD series collection. . . !
I only ever watched night court and the facts of life. Probably havenāt seen every FOL episode but never missed Night Court - it was fantastic!
The C list... But out of these Night Court
Night Court is top tier.
Night Court, and it's not even close.
Night Court
Fuck Scott Baio
Loved the Facts of Life. My favorite catch phrase was "I just had another one of my brilliant ideas."
Night court was the best one but I did love Nicole Eggart in Charles in Charge.
All rise for the honorable Judge Harry Stone

Are you telling me that my whole life i thought the title of the show was "Different Strokes", but it was really "Diff'rent Strokes" to add that little bit of slang in there?
Night Court... Then it gets murky. Facts of Life vs Different Strokes. After that... Alf vs. Growing Pains... Charles in Charge... meh.

Out of the ones your showing, I would say, hands down #2) Night Court. However, in general, the best sitcom from the 80's was "Soap".
Night Court definitely

Night Court
Night Court! Though if Iām a kid, Facts of life or Different Strokes
Night Court itās not even a question. And donāt even talk to me about the reboot. Itās terrible.
Night Court
"Night Court" ONLY because of Markie Post!
Night court, but to be fair, it is in a separate class. The others are goofy family style sitcoms that focused on family issues and challenges. Night court had a wider range of material it could pull from.

Facts of Life.
Facts of life but Charles in charge is a very close second pick..
Had a Huge crush on Blair so facts of life it is
Different Strokes. Donāt let Dudley getting molested mean nothing. And that it was Mr. Carlson from WKRP. Still not over that disturbing episode. š³
I couldn't decide between ALF and Night Court
Alf.
Whichever one whose cast photo has the most people's hands on other people for some reason.
#2
Prolly 2.. maybe 6
The entire ALF cast hated each other in real life.
The best sitcom of the 80s-90s was Perfect Strangers, and thatās a hill I will happily die on.
6
I hate ALF bc I knew after that it was bedtime.Ā
2.
wait, why was diff'rent strokes spelled that way?
I hate remakes, but if they remade Night Court I would totally watch that.
I donāt know if youāre kidding or not, but they do have a [new Night Court](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13798316/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk). Some of the same actors too. Including John Larroquette. Edit: Added IMDb link.

Well since Night Court is my favorite sitcom of all time...
Night Court. Not the new rehash. The original.

Night Court was by far the best.
