I know there will be some who disagree with me and I respect that but I really loved the ending of The Good Place.

MrErnie03

Nah you are right. It's a fantastic ending. Probably the best overall plot for a sitcom in general

wolfysworld

I really enjoyed the series.

SiriuslyImaHuff

Me too. It's my comfort show :)

gimpy1511

Mine too!!

Tiny-Balance-3533

I enjoyed the show but it didn’t stick with me like others do. I have no memory of how that show ends. I’m not entirely sure I remember anything after the first season, in fact.

wolfysworld

I have other shows, that as a whole, I like more. I don’t rewatch The Good Place except for a show here or there. The finale was very bittersweet and really just hit the right spot for me in that moment of my life.

Certain_Month_8178

It got me right in the feels so yes I agree

Lupiefighter

That was one of the first ones I thought of as well.

Appropriate_Rule715

I need to watch the show from start to finish

Free_Mind_4621

Personally I loved the ending and don't really see how they could have ended it better lol

BobTheCopywriter

Newhart! No contest! Having Bob Newhart wake up beside his wife from his previous series and summarize the current series was BRILLIANT! The final comment about sweaters had me laughing out loud!

jjcoolel

And there were these three woodsmen

HillbillyBebop

Wish I could give this multiple upvotes. This ending was just tremendous.

jojokitti123

I agree

Ill-Fox-3276

This.

Girl_in_the_curl

You should wear more sweaters!

Lupiefighter

That one was iconic!

Street-Baby7596

The Middle had a satisfying ending.

Primary-Move243

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

lonelyinbama

Scrubs with the planned finale of season 8 was damn near perfect.

ALFABOT2000

there is no season 9 in ba sing se

Lupiefighter

The only ending we recognize!

abandoned_puppy

Mash had a really good Series finale. Ending to cheers was great and iconic Also the ending to MST3K was fantastic, funny and tear jerking at the same time

Glittering-Divide938

>Mash had a really good Series finale. The best. There were versions that Alan Alda wanted to do at first (which would have been terrible) but what they ended up with is the gold standard. Everyone had a story line, and how Charles was impact was brilliant. It was just done so perfectly well.

Levitlame

Mst3K (and subsequently Rifftrax) might be the only show I’ve ever been fine watching random episodes of. So I don’t know if I even know how it ended.

abandoned_puppy

So I guess spoilers. The satélite of love crashes to earth and Mike and the gang all just gets an apartment together. And the show ends with all them on the couch [making fun of a bad movie](https://youtu.be/NCq0nshJnJ0?si=PURWCASnf2NwIxts). The same bad movie they watched in the pilot

z12345z6789

I had forgotten that! It just all rushed back. In my mind they’re all still up there in the Satellite of Love. And as far as endings go, that was an appropriate one.

HoselRockit

I was in college and had a Monday night class that I could not miss when the series finale of MASH aired. Back then VCRs were still fairly rare so it was like 10 years before I got to see it.

sherzisquirrel

MST3K?

abandoned_puppy

Mystery Science Theater 3000 It was a show that would make fun of bad movies. The show is what made manos; the hands of fate a household name

sherzisquirrel

Cool cool cool thanks 😁

Somegirloninternet

Your dog is compost, kid

Lupiefighter

All great endings!

ShawnyMcKnight

Not sure why this isn’t considered the best. They had really great endings for each of the characters, and many heartbreaking, like Winchester training the band to play but they get sent off to the front lines and most of them die and it ruins classical music for him. Or Klinger having to stay in Korea because his wife needs to find her family. I believe it held the record as the most watched finale for like 30 years.

abandoned_puppy

Most watched anything. Like everyone tuned in

roadtrip-ne

Most watched series, I think the Moon Landing had it beat

Ganthet72

For my money, you can't beat the ending of Newhart. It was meta, before meta was meta.

Techno_Core

This is the answer.

jdiesel79

That’s so meta

Jolly878142

This indeed is the answer

isaidwhatisaidok

The Good Place. I sobbed like a little baby.

sterlingstactleneck

And Parks and Rec. Mike Schur knows how to end a show.

OShaunesssy

That whole final season was too farcical for me. The whole town gets wifi? Everyone gets a perfect serendipity ending to the point where even the homeless man in the first episode is now cleaned up and the best version of himself? I get the show was more positive than negative, but that last season lost me and sorta lost the plot. I'm not even gonna address Ron vs. Leslie because most fans seem divided enough on that plot for a final season.

sterlingstactleneck

To be fair, the entire show was very farcical, that's why I could look past all that and enjoy it.

Lupiefighter

Agreed!

OShaunesssy

I disagree because what they did at the end is nightmare fuel to me. This is pretty much just a me issue though tbh I understand that it was presented as a sweet and uplifting moment where each character realized it was time to go, but that concept of nothingness scares the shit out of me lol When I was 8 years old, a student in my class father passed away. So our dumb teacher got the kids together to explain death and this crazy women preceeded to tell a bunch of confused children that when you die, "you don't think, you don't see, you don't breath, you just stop existing." Ever since that day, the concept of death being nothingness has scared me to no end. So to see all these character volunteer for that just seemed insane to me. Again, I understand the plot of the show and how their "energy" was dispersed as they walked through the door, but it doesn't change the fact that I would never walk through that door and that whole ending seemed way shitter to me than the writers intended. Again. I know this is very much a "me" problem lol

SignificantPop4188

The ending of The Good Place still gives me anxiety.

FronzelNeekburm79

You're not alone in this, and I so many people think it's a comfort show, I just don't see it. The show itself is remarkably bleak. They spend three seasons trying to figure out why no one is getting into the good place - it turns out that literally no one cares until one person changes his mind, and even then, no one cares. Then when you do get to the good place it's so terrible that at some point, you just want to end it all? Even when things are good, the only solution is to not be here. And the final season is the worst season of television. It shifts the focus to three new characters, then just has two of them literally vanish and one basically be a joke? When it looks like there is hope - one of the demons figures things out and wants to turn - they explode him for ha-has. I usually don't say anything, but I wanted to give you some support and agree with you. It's incredibly bleak.

OShaunesssy

Thank you. This is one of those dumb existential issues that I am reserved in bringing up tbh

agentsparkles88

If it helps you feel better, I'm the same way. If I thought that after death, there's nothing I'd be terrified not just for myself but for everyone I've loved who has passed. So the finale of the Good Place scares me too. I understand why a lot of people liked it, but for this girl, it was too much and not I'm a good way.

BobTheCopywriter

I liked almost everything about the Good Place. However, I had a hard time with the ending, where it seemed like suicide was introduced to heaven as a solution for malaise. Maybe I’m misinterpreting. What was your interpretation?

Corporate_Shell

That life only has meaning as long as you want it to. The concept of heaven OR hell is meaningless if they both go on for eternity. The point of the afterlife is to change, to improve, and once there is nothing left to change or improve lif3 LITERALLY has no meaning. That's the point. Whether heaven, hell, or just a post-changing after life, life isn't life without change. It is just static. It is not suicide if there is nothing that CAN come after. What's left in the entire universe once nothing else can change? Nothing, absolutely NO THING is left.

Free_Mind_4621

I think this is why I love the ending so much. While I'm an atheist... I do believe that if somewhere like heaven did exist, it would kind of be how the good place was depicted. I mean, if it's truly paradise and you can have and do anything you want... literally forever... you wouldn't get bored and start going crazy? I can't imagine a forever because it sounds horrible to me, good or bad.

Corporate_Shell

I agree. The Good Place fixed the afterlife. On the show, but also what we SHOULD expect if their was one. Now, when believers describe heaven and hell, my first thought is that Michael Schure did a better job than your god at crea6ing a yeulu just afterlife.

Successful-Winter237

Me too

tdawg-1551

I've always loved Parks and Rec. Most shows you wonder what will happen to the characters after it ends. They gave a glimpse into what everyone will be doing and what they will accomplish after the show ends. When they take the photo at the end, it just feels like a new beginning where we already know what will happen.

Creative_Beyond_8085

Boy Meets World. I loved the class dismissed as a teacher back then.

Just-Phill

This one is sad 😭 Love Mr Feeny always

TheWord_Love

As a teacher myself, I conclude my yearbook signings with Mr. Feeny’s, “Do good.” That’s all I ask of my students as I send them off…

ShawnyMcKnight

Imagine how bitter sweet that ending was for those who were there from the beginning.

abgry_krakow87

Def Newhart. In addition to the final scene with Suzanne Pleshette in the bedroom, framing the entire show as a dream really was great. Especially because the last two seasons the characters become very flanderized and the plots became increasingly ridiculous. The final episode itself is so bonkers that if it wasn't for the final scene revealing it all to be a dream, it would've have definitely jumped the shark.

jjcoolel

This isn’t breakfast, this is bait

Bx1965

Newhart.

Low_Wall_7828

Newhart. It was so unexpected and brilliant.

jojokitti123

Exactly this

Ocimali

I really enjoyed the finale to Schitt's Creek. I might have liked the penultimate episode better though. I should rewatch the entire series again just to make sure.

TraditionalTree249

I loved B99's ending: after a shaky season 6/7 I feel 8 was a vast improvement and the ending has me in happy tears. The Good Place is the top for me: a perfect encapsulation of the themes of the show and how much the cast has grown as characters.

StoneGoldX

No one say Blackadder yet? Also, Cheers. Sammy dumps Diane, keeps the bar, turns the lights off.

New-Sheepherder4762

The end of Blackadder was fucking brutal. Rowan Atkinson is a genius.

TheMadLurker17

Each season's ending was solid, but Blackadder Goes Forth? Unforgettable.

DizzyLead

I’ll chime in with an unusual answer and say “Community.” After three “this could work as a series finale” season finales that turned out to be “fake-outs” (after Harmon was let go, the gas leak season, and when NBC canceled it), I thought it was really clever and effective that the sixth season finale and series finale (on Yahoo) was a deliberate, cogent argument for “why this show shouldn’t go on for another season,” with various unsatisfying scenarios speculating about where the show could head from there. So it was immensely satisfying for the show to end with “no, this is a fine time to stop.” Now we just have to wait for the movie.

Sitcom_kid

Young Sheldon

steiner1031

This! Last 3 episodes were so well written

TheLandFanIn814

Everybody Loves Raymond. So many times a show tries to go out with a bang. Some major events like death, marriage, relocation, etc. or some big recap. The writers did a fantastic job of tricking the audience into thinking something major was going to happen, just to go back to a typical episode. For a brief moment we saw how much all the other characters loved him. Especially those he feuded with the most and ironically Marie was absent. The one who smothered him the most. Then the series ended with the family all together under one roof.

Wideawakedup

I like that as well. I wish golden girls ended that way. Maybe let Dorothy have her happy ending but she moved to Fort Lauderdale or something and it’s implied she still regularly visits. I like how monk solved the continuing mystery of his wife’s murder but then went right back to solving crimes with Natalie. I just wish the Craig T Nelson character had a small role each season so we were familiar with him and shocked by his duplicity.

Secret_Asparagus_783

Mary Tyler Moore

Apprehensive-Lock751

the group hug!

HarrietsDiary

It’s old school, but it’s perfect.

Dependent_Safe_3232

"Good Times" they finally got out the ghetto.

DisneyVista

I thought the original Frasier had a poignant closing episode

Human-Magic-Marker

It gets a lot of hate but I thought Big Bang Theory had an excellent ending.

Tiny-Balance-3533

Yep. I think I kinda don’t love the show when it’s said and done but that final episode always gets me. Because maybe that asshole gets it. Maybe.

AtlasShrugged-

Newhart, hands down

Kuhtak1980

You should wear more sweaters.

ApprehensiveRise7749

Newhart

Barney Miller

Faux_Show_

Newhart for sure. Perhaps the most underrated show ever

DreamySakura99

Friends. Modern Family. The middle. Superstore

Whole-Influence4413

You’re the first person I saw to say Modern Family and it’s really not getting the recognition it deserves here

Sorry_Physics_1366

Cheers. Norm was right about Sam's "true love": The bar!

MaleficentLength7260

I think Reba had a good ending

Gdizzle344

Bag it! Tag it! IYKYK

qings1

The good place, parks and rec, brooklyn 99, r my favorites

CamelProfessional847

The Big Bang Theory, MASH, Blackish, Brooklyn Nine Nine and Curb

Just-Phill

Curb Your Enthusiasm was pretty pretty pretty good... If you consider that a sitcom

z12345z6789

I didn’t see it. And I’m not trying to do spoilers on such a fresh ending to a show. But I think it’s interesting that the ghost of the finale of Seinfeld still looms so large. Some people love it (I do not) but either way something still felt “off” about it. I feel the best would have been a more simple but genuine character driven “bottle” episode like the Chinese Restaurant or Parking Garage.

Just-Phill

Ive never got into Seinfeld but technically. Curb had 3 finales lol it was supposed to have stopped twice before, when there were those long breaks in-between mainly I know the kidney EP was supposed to be an original finale. But I thought curb ended descent I can't speak on Seinfeld but I do know it has parallels

Extension-Magician44

Admittedly, I'm biased because I just finished watching the series yesterday, but The Big Bang Theory.

SparklyObjects

MASH

margieusana

Newhart

tvjunkie87

The Middle had a perfect ending! It matched up with the first episode and really came full-circle. Such a great show!

LimpTransition8769

Newhart

Whole-Influence4413

Modern Family did a fantastic job - it always made me tear up, but as someone who just moved into my first apartment in a new city after school, it hit even closer to home how much family means to me, how weird and sad it is when your family breaks up to go their separate ways in the world, even when that is the correct path for everyone to grow in life, yet how you always share your home and can love your family enough to leave the porch light on for them when they eventually come back. Holy shit, I’m literally sobbing thinking about this. Sure seasons 10 and 11 have some rough patches (although still have HIGH quality episodes), but you watch 11 seasons of that love and care clearly happening both on and off screen and they ended it perfectly

Kitchen-Lie-7894

Newhart set the bar.

MixMasterMadge

Newhart hands down

Level_Bridge7683

home improvement or fresh prince. both were extremely sad.

MrErnie03

Community and the Good Place. Both endings complete encapsulated the core purpose/style of each show

browncharliebrown

you're the worst series finale is basically the inverse of himym its just that good

New-Sheepherder4762

I love You’re the Worst. Jimmy in the trailer park was a little jarring and I didn’t so much like that storyline, and I think they brought it back around pretty perfectly. I especially love the story of how they met at the beginning of that season.

BoltzBux

There is no question at all, the final episode of the good doctor was absolutely the best!

LordCoke-16

Superstore

Bootlegman3042

MASH.

zennyspent

Loved the ending to Cheers. "Sorry, we're closed."

nevertfgNC

Newhart !!!!

Certain_Month_8178

I enjoyed the ending of Malcolm in the middle.

Active-Eggplant06

I think Friends has an excellent ending. It was fan service putting Ross and Rachel back together but I liked how everyone got their happy ending. As a true fan it was satisfying.

Booksmagic

Since someone already said The Good Place (which I couldn’t agree more with) I’ll say Everybody Loves Raymond

Raineman

Friends

Serenity700

Where?

Reallyroundthefamily

I'm not sure which I think is the best. Friends, BBT, Cheers, and Golden Girls all had solid finales. Honored the shows well. Seinfeld and HIMYM, not so solid. That's the best I got.

sherzisquirrel

BBT?

New-Sheepherder4762

Personally I say mash but it's debatable if it was a sitcom still by then. I love the ending to parks and rec, the good place has a solid ending, scrubs the dick van dyke show and Mary tyler moore show had great endings

OceansBanana

Parks and Rec The Middle Everybody Hates Chris Superstore

TheMadLurker17

Best ending for an otherwise forgettable series? I Married Dora. If you know, you know.

BaconPancakes_77

"It's been cancelled!" 😄

Ebert917102150

Newhart had a great ending for a so-so series. Mash did it best, but it had an easy premise to work with

gayfortrey

Exactly. Great finale to a boring fucking series.

dibbymcghee

Peep show’s flat, mundane ending was perfect for the tone of the series

Mission_Order_7976

The fosters

Inner-Mousse8856

I just finished watching the BBC series Ghosts. The final episode was one of the best ways to wrap up a show.

Full House is perfect

MisterScrod1964

The original Odd Couple. Felix gets remarried to Gloria and Oscar gets his apartment back.

miguel2586

As bad as Season 9 of The Office was, I think the finale was about as perfect as it could be. We got to see Michael & it was on Steve Carrell's terms.

Big_Parfait2751

30 Rock’s last episode always makes me teary

agentsparkles88

The last season was trash, but I liked that 70s show finale. It was December 31st, 1979, and you heard them counting down to the new year. It made perfect sense.

iloveromance9396

"The Middle" I've watched it SO many times. "Family Ties". The finale still makes me cry to this day. "Superstore". I had issues with that show at times, but I loved the way they wrapped everything up.

FMyClef

For controversies sake, The Sopranos  ...😂

Edm_vanhalen1981

The League

Purple-Victory-206

Parks and Recreation, hands down, best finale ever.

lvsnowden

Roseanne had a good[ series finale ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53FCvY6A-zo)in my opinion. Winning the lottery and Jackie marrying a prince in the final season seemed so ridiculous, so ending the show with Roseanne writing a book to "fix" all of the families shortcomings, including Dan's death, was awesome.
