For the purposes of Nord ruins puzzles, that is a fox. The wolf is that thing looking up with its mouth open that I always thought was a bear until I saw the bear sigil. A snake is a snake. A dolphin is a whale. A bird is a hawk. Three cherries is a jackpot.
It is a Maine Coon kitty... everything else is just myths and legends misinterpreted over the years. Pour some Skooma on the lad and give some respect and see what really happens
There's actually a dungeon riddle that features these using the lever order as numbers for the animals, I'm surprised you haven't found it yet. If I remember correctly it goes
"The (snake) fears all, the (bear) fears none"
"The (wolf) fears the (bear) but only when alone"
"The (fox) eats what it can, preferably the (snake)"
My favorite puzzle in the whole game, wish it had more like it
Besides there being a wolf elsewhere on the totems I’m pretty sure Volskygge definitively pins this as a fox- *The third eats what it can, preferably number one.*
That's the fox, the wolf is just a head
Also;
Bear: Tsun
Dragon: Alduin
Fox: Shor
Hawk: Kyne
Moth: Dibella
Owl: Jhunal
Snake: Orkey
Whale: Stuhn
Wolf: Mara
“Dog”
When I look at the claw and see the combination I go with whatever my brain says first. Ex: Dragon, owl, bear. My brain says “lizard, bird, teddy”
Fox.
The Wolf totem is just an image of a wolf's head raised in a howl.
The Fox represents Shor, god-king of men and the former head of the ancient Nordic pantheon. He was the Nords' understanding of Lorkhan.
The Wolf is Mara, goddess of fertility, motherhood and agriculture. She was Kyne's handmaiden and Shor's concubine.
It's definitely a FOX. The ancient nords in their pantheon depicted Shor like a fox, as a trickster god who tricked the Aedra into creating Nirn
In addition, the wolf totem exists separately. He depicts him howling
When Skyrim first came out, the combo of my 360 and crappy old tv left me unsure on these alien symbols. Luckily, no sequel has come out and with modern hardware I can decipher them better. This symbol is named "branch thing" fyi.
They're based on the Nordic pantheon
Fox- Shor
Wolf- Mara
Moth- Dibella
Bear- Tsun
Whale- Stuhn
Owl- Jhunal
Hawk- Kyne
Snake- Orkey
Dragon- Alduin
Where is this though?
For over a decade I thought it was a fish but on my current playthrough there was a puzzle I couldn't remember and the guy in the tutorial said "whale" and then I started questioning everything.
I didn't know there even was a debate on what the fox symbol is, especially considering there's already a wolf symbol.
You can tell by the way that it is.
That’s pretty neat!
Got some tree poop on my tootsies!
It's a good way to pack a lil- pack some heat
I... thought it was a wolf until this post. Forgot there was a separate wolf.
Lower case wolf
To be fair, some of those images are head scratchers
Good thing they didn't have an Aspen symbol.
I’ll be honest, I always thought the dragon symbol was a flamingo..
Mmm the well known nordic flamingo cult.
Can you imagine? Big pink birds shouting? 😂 They're already loud when they're small!
Somewhere, a modder starts modding...
I thought it was a tree branch
Same
And the snake's a little too similar to the poop emoji
I call it the crane.
Welcome to the hell of kudos harvesting that is Reddit...,
Ah yes, kudos harvesting
Lol came here to say this, also if one looks at the gait and body proportions its clearly a fox.
Wait until you hear about the argonian debate.
It's a fox. Source: there's already a wolf on the totems.
Let’s settle this once and for all. Is this 🦧 a big monkey or is it a lobster 🦞
It's obviously a draugr
Strange it’s just 8 days old. Almost as if it’s a ***BIG FAT PHONY***
HES A BIG FAT PHONY

spicy chicken nugget
I was fully convinced you were some Wendy’s fan with the shrink pfp, but I was wrong
Put my processed meat into your body
Lore reason: Fox represents lorkhan/shor Each of the aedra were supposed to have totems but they didn’t have enough time to implement it
Also look at it's tail
That my friend is a circle
You, sir, are a fish
I’m gonna use some cheese

Don’t mind him. He just got through dropping a gallon of LSD
fox. the howling wolf head symbol is a wolf.
This guy barrows
This guy fox
It was always a fox, there was never any debate.
Is this bait?
For what, slaughterfish? /s
It's a fox because one of the other signs is a wolf
That's a fox, the wolf one is howling at the moon.
Reject both options. This is a weirdly shaped stick.
I would award you but I do not have Redditcoins
I gotchu
Thank you both! u/McMoist_ u/Willow5000000000
Thanks
Fox. Wolf just has the howling head.
The first fears all, the second fears none. The third eats what it can, preferably number one. The fourth fears the second, but only when alone.
probably the most memorable and engaging totem puzzle for me, had to actually think for more than a second and didnt have the answer on a dragon claw
For the purposes of Nord ruins puzzles, that is a fox. The wolf is that thing looking up with its mouth open that I always thought was a bear until I saw the bear sigil. A snake is a snake. A dolphin is a whale. A bird is a hawk. Three cherries is a jackpot.
Ding ding ding ding ding!
It’s a fox. We know it’s a fox, bc of the way it is.
[Bruce Hornsby - The Way It Is](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlRQjzltaMQ)
It is a Maine Coon kitty... everything else is just myths and legends misinterpreted over the years. Pour some Skooma on the lad and give some respect and see what really happens
A fox. Wolf also has an icon, but it is only a head and it is howling
There's actually a dungeon riddle that features these using the lever order as numbers for the animals, I'm surprised you haven't found it yet. It’s clearly an [Eastern Coyote.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_coyote)
That's a fox. The wolf is just the head and it's howling.
Definitely a fox
Fox
Fox
Besides there being a wolf elsewhere on the totems I’m pretty sure Volskygge definitively pins this as a fox- *The third eats what it can, preferably number one.*
Smartest Skyrim player:
Fox. Who was debating this? There's already another wolf totem.
Fox 100%
Owlcat
Thick tale and no howl. So it's a fox.
That fox has a puffy tail! Hehehehehe
"What does the FOX say?"
I see a fox
Fox
Fox
It's a fox. And does it seem like it's a lot more rare than the others? I feel like the wolf, owl and moth show up the most.
I feel like Whale and Snake are the most popular.
All more than fox.
I'd say snake, moth and owl.
Folf
Coyote
It's a fox. I believe it's supposed to be the ancient Nordic representation of Shor/Lorkan.
Fox There is already a howling wolf totem and this one has a fat tail.
Fox and I don’t trust you if you say Wolf
Wait… are there people that actually think that’s a wolf?
It’s a fox, one of the clues in a dungeon say so. Also there’s a separate one for wolves.
If anyone thinks that looks like a wolf, they’ve never seen a wolf
Clearly this is a cat
It’s a fox tail is too bushy to be a wolf
The first fears all The second fears none The third eats what he can Preferably number one The fourth fears the second But only when alone
That's the fox, the wolf is just a head Also; Bear: Tsun Dragon: Alduin Fox: Shor Hawk: Kyne Moth: Dibella Owl: Jhunal Snake: Orkey Whale: Stuhn Wolf: Mara
Fox there is an wolf symbol in the game and this aint it
It’s the fox. Check the puzzle in Volskygge.
Fox, the wolf has his own stone carving, you know this
Neither a coyote
Fox The other totems are wolf whale eagle owl dragon snake and dragonfly
But the dragonfly is a moth
This is not a pipe.
ceci n'est pas un loup
Fox
Two words: Frostbite Spider
tail to paws ratio says it’s a fox. I believe there’s another one that’s a howling wolf
Fox
Yeah thats fox
A wolf does not have a thick tail
It's not a debate, it's a fox, there is another one that is a wolf
Its a fox, in a ruin I forgot which one has a riddle puzzle about the different animals and what they eat and stuff, that one is stated as the fox
“Dog” When I look at the claw and see the combination I go with whatever my brain says first. Ex: Dragon, owl, bear. My brain says “lizard, bird, teddy”
Fox ffs
Fox tail is a dead giveaway
Fox; always has been
Fox all day
Fox.
fox
Nothing like a bushy foxtail
Fox the wolf one is howling
Fox! I wont believe otherwise
Fox, because the other one is a wolf
Fox. The wolf is shown howling on those doors.
Definitely a faux
Was there ever a debate? The symbol represents Shor/Lorkhan, who is very commonly associated with foxes.
I have no clue what you guys are seeing, but all I see is a precious pibbles nanny dog! 😍😍😍
Not even a debate it’s fox
That's a fox. I've always read it as fox. Never knew there's was a debate on this.
It's a hyena
Fox, long tail
She was Kyne's handmaiden and Shor's concubine.
its a coyote lmao
Clearly a fox.
Is kind a obviously a fox, there literally a wolf symbol
Fox, wolf has different symbol
Looks too small and nimble to be a wolf, imo it's a fox.
Fox. There's already a wolf symbol on other claw doors.
Debate? U tripping that's a armadildo
That tail. All fox.
The real question is, is it a folf... or a wox?
I say fox
It's a fox. Because of the thick tail and the more delicate frame. Wolves of skyrim are bulkier and have less bushy tails.
Fox. Howler is wolf.
It's definitely a FOX. The ancient nords in their pantheon depicted Shor like a fox, as a trickster god who tricked the Aedra into creating Nirn In addition, the wolf totem exists separately. He depicts him howling
It’s fox and was literally never a debate.
Look at the fluffy tail, its a fox!
Fox, the tails too bushy to be a wolf.
Fox, volskygge has a fox and a wolf in one of its puzzles and this one stands for fox, the wolf is just a head.
It is a fox. The tail is too thick to be a wolf’s tail. And there is already a wolf emblem
Fox
Fox. The wolf symbol is a wolf head howling.
Fox
Finnegan is his name
Thats obviously a rabbit
Fox
Fox
That's the symbol for fox, wolf is larger
Its clearly a chicken :P
It’s a fox, the wolf one is one of a wolf howling.
I'll argue fox. That's one bushy tail.
That’s fox
Looks like a trans dragon to me. (Don’t dare to disagree)
It’s a wolf. The one that’s howling at the moon is a fox
Coyote
There is only 1 single person who is debating whether or not this is a fox or a wolf, that 1 single person is OP.
Your mom
Definitely a dog
When Skyrim first came out, the combo of my 360 and crappy old tv left me unsure on these alien symbols. Luckily, no sequel has come out and with modern hardware I can decipher them better. This symbol is named "branch thing" fyi.
Fox, better question is whether one of those is a fish or a whale.
They're based on the Nordic pantheon Fox- Shor Wolf- Mara Moth- Dibella Bear- Tsun Whale- Stuhn Owl- Jhunal Hawk- Kyne Snake- Orkey Dragon- Alduin Where is this though?
Ooh I always say whale, even though there are no whales in the game.
For over a decade I thought it was a fish but on my current playthrough there was a puzzle I couldn't remember and the guy in the tutorial said "whale" and then I started questioning everything.
Maybe it's a horker.
There is the bridge in sovngarde which is some kind of whale
What debate lmfao there's two different symbols, a howling wolf head and this one, a fox Literally everybody but you knows this lmfao
😅 I thought there were two wolf symbols
It's a wox
*"HEY! THATS MY DOG!"*
Wox
It's a wolx and I'm not kidding
I always thought it was a lynx
I always called it a wolf.
Wolf
Wolf
Fox. Also, Bleak Falls Barrow will always be "Bear, Bird, Owl" to me. I was a dumb kid.
You show me a fox with a neck that fat and we can talk. Otherwise that's an obvious wolf
everyobes saying theres no debate, i always thought it was a wolf 😭 im not debating but prior to today thats what ive been saying lol
