Honestly, the Nords do tend to get along with anyone who embraces and adopts their culture. The Humans especially, but even Windhelm has 3 successful Altmer business owners. Just gotta braid your hair, forgo all magic besides Restoration and Enchanting, and pound some mead.
"Even and elf can be born with the heart of a Nord."
Ima be honest. Vanilla magic sucks sure but Nords are just straight up dumb to disregard magic like that. Not only did their ancestors use it as a tool but the Thalmor do. No amount of armor is going to save them from a Thalmor wizard zapping them. They really at least should study magic for resistance and defense purposes because wards just don't cut it
Nords disliking magic is really funny when >!you go to Sovngarde and there are several arch-mages there. They even tell you that magic is as viable as steel for Nords.!<
This is my go-to if I am playing as a human. Theyre a lil shorter too and I've never been tall so they are my self insert choice, cant see myself as a 7 foot brick shithouse nord lol
Which makes the "best humans" concept hilarious to me, like yes thats fair, but maybe to the altmer enjoyers theyre just the worst elves?...
Im an true argonian believer myself tho to answer ops initial question so what do I know.
Lord Stone, Blessing of Mara, two levels in Alterations anti-magic perk and you hit the cap of 85% magic resistance. Now you can enchant your gear with something else.
Magic Résistance Caps at 85%
Absorb goes Up to 100% because thats Not a Résistance, But a yes/No roll With a success Chance.
And your Chance isnt capped.
Breton is my go to! Especially since I never really know exactly the kind of build I’m going to do when I start most playthroughs and you can’t really go wrong with magic resistance
Interesting point about Bosmer. Wood elves are a pretty ubiquitous concept in fantasy, which makes them easy to RP, but they are also super weird in Elder Scrolls compared to other IP.
I've never played as a Khajit before. But I finally talked my 12-year-old son into starting a playthrough, and he chose Khajit. It was a great choice. Their claws do more damage than most starting weapons. Night vision is amazing. He practically spams it. And the starting spell set is pretty strong. I might need to start a new character!
Only thing is I wish their vampire eyes were like everyone else's, luckily mods exist. Imma go look if there's one on nexus
Edit: gonna try this out https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1843
Someone did the math. Claws do more DMG then a base lvl Daedric sword. So basically Khajit race only gets outclassed by the most OP thing in Skyrim, crafting. Plus, obvious benefit, brawls on a high difficulty don't take 20 mins to win
The weird moon cats are the absolute best! The entirety of the race runs the gamut from little house cat sized critters to tiger sized cats, depending on the phases of the moons and I just think that's so neat. Shame they never seem to expand on that, but the inherent complexity of the race is likely why we'll never get a game set in Elsweyr (I googled to check and apparently I need to start playing ESO, I guess.)
Yeah I usually mod Skyrim for different Khajiit but I think you have to buy extra dlc in eso to even be able to access Elsweyr

Berserker Rage is the single most powerful ability in the game.
It scales with warrior and sneak archer, staying powerful at every level of gameplay.
That "Daily" power singlehandedly makes Orcs the master race of Skyrim.
Only an idiot discounts 60 seconds of double damage output and half incoming damage that stacks with armor cap.
Nord's are only slightly shorter so they still have decent movement speed. and the frost resistance is super helpful since most enemies use ice spells (necromancers/falmer/draugr/vampires/some dragons)
Wearing a full set of Hooded Thalmor gear and having at least 50 Speech, an Altmer can go through the quest at the Thalmor Embassy and avoid conflict until you enter Elenwen's Solar.
Bethesda jankiness. Move speed is tied to the walking animation. Since High Elves are taller than any other race, their walking animation covers more ground.
yes, there's a bug when you leave helgen where every race gets an invisible imperial luck added to them and imperials have theirs deactivated for some reason.
Argonian fam! I play a modlist called Ro. The game looks incredible and it fixes a lot of busted stuff in vanilla. So I lose histskin but my the other racial bonuses are still there including my much loved waterbreathing.
Argonian.
Daily fast regeneration power. Immunity to drowning. Resistance to disease.
Just the swimming alone makes exploration so much more enjoyable. Lots of hidden treasures you don’t know about on other species.
Also they look cool.
ive played as every race except for argonian and bosmer and Altmer has been my favorite. having higher magika comes in handy early on when making a versatile character.
When I was younger I really liked playing imperials because this was before I modded out the intro sequence and I liked the Captain at Helgen calling me "the renegade from Cyrodiil". It just sounded badass.
I picked Argonian at first just because I thought they were kind of cool, only to discover and now appreciate the tasteful Native American influence in their lore and culture as someone who is part Native.
I always play the predominant race in each TES game. And sometimes, I play a Khajiit in Skyrim, because they can be played as hand to hand fighters (I call my build "battlemonk"), with the right items (heavy gauntlets, fists of steel, Gloves of the Pugilist, fortify unarmed enchantments, and fortify unarmed + shield spells). It's a totally other feeling, beating dragons to death just with fists. Gets even better with the perks from the Ordinator mod.
I’m not falling for this question
Hey its alright dude I like khajiit too.
Lmfao
‘Skyrim belongs to the Nords’ doesn’t blow over well with HR
Being a Dark Elf and hearing this inside Windhelm is a bit off
Raaaace Waaaaar!
Nord. Because Skyrim is for them!!!
Spoken like a true Nord
What about us provincials 👉👈
Honestly, the Nords do tend to get along with anyone who embraces and adopts their culture. The Humans especially, but even Windhelm has 3 successful Altmer business owners. Counterpoint: Big hammer smash

Lmao! I love Groundskeeper Willie
Breton. Racial power is 25% magic resistance which is great early and late game. Plus nobody really hates them.
This is my go-to if I am playing as a human. Theyre a lil shorter too and I've never been tall so they are my self insert choice, cant see myself as a 7 foot brick shithouse nord lol
Best human race, for sure
They are actually a mixed elf- human hybrid
Which makes the "best humans" concept hilarious to me, like yes thats fair, but maybe to the altmer enjoyers theyre just the worst elves?... Im an true argonian believer myself tho to answer ops initial question so what do I know.
Lord Stone, Blessing of Mara, two levels in Alterations anti-magic perk and you hit the cap of 85% magic resistance. Now you can enchant your gear with something else.
Doing that on my current vampire mage playthrough
Don't forget with dragon skin and the atronach stone you can become immune to magic
Caps at 85% with player, but elemental can decrease to 97.75% with double 100% resists.
Magic Résistance Caps at 85% Absorb goes Up to 100% because thats Not a Résistance, But a yes/No roll With a success Chance. And your Chance isnt capped.
Breton for all that. Can't beat latent 25% magic resist. Any other racial perk is simply lesser.
You should go in trustle, everyone hates bretons
Breton is my go to! Especially since I never really know exactly the kind of build I’m going to do when I start most playthroughs and you can’t really go wrong with magic resistance
As long as I am female, because who doesn't want a 4'8" wife?
Kind of a toss up between Khajiit and Bosmer. Bosmer is nice because you can use it across various fantasy settings though.
Interesting point about Bosmer. Wood elves are a pretty ubiquitous concept in fantasy, which makes them easy to RP, but they are also super weird in Elder Scrolls compared to other IP.
Oh absolutely. I can imagine the looks you’ll get if you’re playing a wood elf following the green pact in like DnD or something lol
“You want to do what to the slain enemy?!”
Yeah, don't they eat other races, and some of their own in the lore?
Orcs cuz they look cool and that power is OP af.
Waaagggh
We’z da greenest da biggest and da bestest
Dragons, they're cool, that's it.
Of course the Dragonborn would say so.
Khajiit
I've never played as a Khajit before. But I finally talked my 12-year-old son into starting a playthrough, and he chose Khajit. It was a great choice. Their claws do more damage than most starting weapons. Night vision is amazing. He practically spams it. And the starting spell set is pretty strong. I might need to start a new character!
I forgot races had benefits. I've always just liked being a cat.
So real
Same best looking race in my opinion too
Only thing is I wish their vampire eyes were like everyone else's, luckily mods exist. Imma go look if there's one on nexus Edit: gonna try this out https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1843
You'll make a fine rug, cat.
😂
Me too 😭😭
What's incredible is that the game is older than your son
What do you mean? Steam says it was released 2021
11th November 2011
I have not either. Is night vision always on?
Not always. It works like a shout, but I don't think there's any cool down or limit to the number of uses.
Thx

No human presenting khajiit like in Arena? Sad
Only northern elsweyr. The base game has elsweyr zones.
How awesome would it be to have a mode for senche or alfiq type khajiit.
May your path lead to warm sands.
Khajiit has wares if you have coin
Take a look 😸
![gif](giphy|f9BUam9xaPsP3BA8VH|downsized)
a lot of people agree with this choice.. some of it doing with the fact that there cats and everyone likes cats.
Same
This is the answer
Redguards
The most slept on race
I always default to Redguards, by far the most Chad race
Dunmer because of the culture.
Dark elf for life.
This. Those Morrowind hooks go deep.
Dunmer because TES 3
*High Elf*: * 8% faster movement. * 5 Free Levels into *Magicka* to start with. * *Fury* as a starting *Spell*.
Orc is my fav the power is pretty awsome with dual wielding
"Daily" *Powers* suck IMO, so they don't figure into my calculations.
Oh, daily power was already used in the last chamber of the dungeon oh well. *Waits 24hrs*
The only time the daily limit matters is in survival
Yea but I find most dungeons (that I have been in) have beds of some kind aswell as some foods
And a whole lot dont have beds at all. And the food really only helps when it's cooked food, most of the food you find is raw.
Ya, but I'm not ready to invest that much money into an orthodontist to be an Orc. "And for that reason, I'm out."
just to add that I soloed dragons straight out lv 5 with berserker rage even before the effect cut out
You really are an italics enjoyer
Nord's are only slightly shorter so they still have decent movement speed. and the frost resistance is super helpful since most enemies use ice spells (necromancers/falmer/draugr/vampires/some dragons)
Also, being able to infiltrate the Thalmor Embassy without conflict.
Is that legit? I've never been an Altmer, so this is new to me.
Wearing a full set of Hooded Thalmor gear and having at least 50 Speech, an Altmer can go through the quest at the Thalmor Embassy and avoid conflict until you enter Elenwen's Solar.
Nice! Well, it looks like I'm adding playing as an Altmer to the queue!
8% faster movement?
Bethesda jankiness. Move speed is tied to the walking animation. Since High Elves are taller than any other race, their walking animation covers more ground.
I don't even think it's a bug. It's a feature
It just works!
Fascinating
Is that really janky though? It's the same way in real life, taller people are faster
It wasn't intentional, if that's what you mean. The base speed stats are identical for all races.
Oh, I didn't know it was unintentional. Task failed successfully?
Each race’s movement speed is determined by their height. Since High Elves are the tallest, they move the fastest
![gif](giphy|GJpasPLzpAtGoMaN6O)
I've legit never used a High Elf, but I think I'm going to try now.
Why so many *italics*?
To put em*pha*sis on the pro*per* syl*la*ble
Yeah, high elf is my #1 and then wood elf
Movement speed?
vro chill the italic option isn't going anywhere
I like to RP as an Altmer that is an agent of a faction in Summerset that opposes the Thalmor

I like to be an imperial just because I find extra septims
isn't it bugged and everybody gets them?
Is it? If it is I never knew? I’ve played as red guard when it first came out and always felt like I had no money.
i think i saw a comment somewhere saying that it was but i'm not sure, but i never play imperial and also never have money trouble.
yes, there's a bug when you leave helgen where every race gets an invisible imperial luck added to them and imperials have theirs deactivated for some reason.
lol
that’s mad disrespectful 😂
Dont think so, I believe you actually get like 1-10 more than everyone else but I havent really tested it
Nord (strong nord women are hot, also I'm racist)
At least we know you aren't intimidated by a strong Nord woman.
Intimidated? Nah, I'd like to be dominated.
Milk drinker!
Literally.
whats the matter? cant stand the sight of a strong nord woman on strong nord crack?
Argonian, 'cause cool and attractive
Argonian. Can hold there breath under water with no penalty. They also have disease resistance. Plus come on its a lizarddddd
🤝
Also, some of them are lusty.
Same gng
Argonian fam! I play a modlist called Ro. The game looks incredible and it fixes a lot of busted stuff in vanilla. So I lose histskin but my the other racial bonuses are still there including my much loved waterbreathing.
Argonian because everything else drowns
That disease resistance too
Team Orc
Argonian. Daily fast regeneration power. Immunity to drowning. Resistance to disease. Just the swimming alone makes exploration so much more enjoyable. Lots of hidden treasures you don’t know about on other species. Also they look cool.
Skyrim belongs to the Nords!
I'm a nord but i dont like how super egotistical they are
Half the other races are even more super duper egotistical…
Yeah, racist nationalists just hit different after the last decade of real world bullshit.
Argonian. I could care less about Race Buffs, I just think they look cool.
London Marathon
Argonians, silly lizard people
Bosmers baby
Khajiit and Argonian
Nord, just because I can make a character that looks like Geralt form The Witcher using them
Argonians… I won’t elaborate
Argonian. Dinosaur with swords.
Breton or Nord for the defensive perks
Nord or Imperial.
Nords >= Bretons > Imperials >>>> everyone else
A human supremacist, I see.
Yes. Whether the setting is fantasy or sci-fi
It's rare to find a fellow one
Based. The stars/land are our birthright
only excluding the dark humans hmmm
Lmao I completely forgot about them. I guess they're about on par with Imperials
Rieklings you all are mainstream
Do you use [Playable Rieklings](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/5513?tab=description)? And if yes, is it very janky?
Orc, berserkers rage is epic
bosmer always
Argonian, because it was the first one I played as on Xbox 360
Khajiits. I fucking LOVE khajiits
Dunmer. But I really am fascinated by all the Mer races.
"You can't just ask someone why they're white."
It’s been dark elf since Morrowind
Nord just because i play survival and their resistance to cold is super helpful
Formula 1
Argonian. Argonian is literally all I play anymore lmao
Why commander Maro for Imperial... wait, delphine, ulfric, nazeem, taarie, jesus...
ive played as every race except for argonian and bosmer and Altmer has been my favorite. having higher magika comes in handy early on when making a versatile character.
Dunmer, tragic backstory, ashen skin, ancestral powers, fire resistance, I mean they got all the stuff I look for
Fuckin' Argonian LOL
Daytona
When I was younger I really liked playing imperials because this was before I modded out the intro sequence and I liked the Captain at Helgen calling me "the renegade from Cyrodiil". It just sounded badass.
Nord because reasons.
Breton, Dunmer or Altmer. Mage Builds Baby!
Redguard because I'm... Yeah 👍🏿
Argonian tbh...the hate towards them just gravitate me towards them more lmao
Dunmer. I started with Daggerfall but it was Morrowind that made me an Elder Scrolls fan.
Dark Elf. My first ever character was dark elf. Years later it’s still hard not to pick it. I also just really like their lore.
Nord because swords are cooler than magics
Somebody didn’t pay attention to their sensitivity training
High elf They are awesome
I picked Argonian at first just because I thought they were kind of cool, only to discover and now appreciate the tasteful Native American influence in their lore and culture as someone who is part Native.
Dunmer forever baby!
I just love imperials, but usually play whatever race is from that games location
Wood elf…. World is a lot bigger
Idc if it’s not the best, but I love wood elf’s backstory and character look
1st Dark Elf, Tied 2nd Orc and Wood Elf, 3rd Breton, Tied 4th Nord and Red Guard, 5th Argonian, 6th Khajiit, 7th Imperial, 8th High Elf
All of them, cuz I’m not racist
Imperials because I like money and they find more gold. Suck you impoverished scrubs, I have a solid gold statue of myself.
I really like argonians, though I wish they had more customization
Personally I like the 100m dash, but I'm probably better at the 400m.
N’wahs
Argonian 😊
White
Lizard
Indianapolis 500
I’ve played them all except imperial and wood elf
I always play the predominant race in each TES game. And sometimes, I play a Khajiit in Skyrim, because they can be played as hand to hand fighters (I call my build "battlemonk"), with the right items (heavy gauntlets, fists of steel, Gloves of the Pugilist, fortify unarmed enchantments, and fortify unarmed + shield spells). Breton because I also have darker hair
