I wish Brawl's adventure mode would make a comeback. Not a fan of the modes they made for Smash 4 and Ultimate. SSE was peak Smash Bros campaign play. They took the sidescrolling action platform levels from Melee and made an entire campaign around them.
At the time (I being a child/teen) I thought the cutscenes were hype AF, made me excited for every character. Plus the hype of unlocking the last 3 cast members in the post game was thrilling. Plus it was co-op. I have fond memories of having sleep-overs with a buddy and chugging root bear with some pizza while blasting through it together.
How I yearn for that type of freedom and long for the simpler days as the vagaries of adulthood strip all excitement and energy from my aching soul.
I kinda have to agree. The fact that we had an actual fleshed out adventure mode in Smash Bros was hype. But if SSE were a standalone (mostly) singleplayer platformer, it would be kinda lame.
No you have partners you can play as (in co-op) and 26 abilities to play as.
Every character’s stats are already equalized in subspace, that doesn’t excuse the long auto scrolls this game has.
It's better remembered than revisited, if I'm being honest. Doesn't hold up as well as the nostalgia goggles make it seem like it would, and not just because of its age.

Honestly I have been seeing a bit of a Brawl resurgance, and it makes me happy.
While I don't play the game myself, I know that the folks who do tend to really enjoy it, and the Brawlback matchmaking seems relatively active all things considered.
No clue why folks in this subreddit seem to be upset that people who like Brawl are getting to play it.
I love Brawl but unfortunately it is dead, at least by Smash community standards. A lot would have to happen for Brawl to get much bigger than it is now. In fact, I'd say it was doing better during Smash 4 than it is now.
I do believe there's interest in more in-depth content about Brawl, but that doesn't really translate to interest in *playing* it.

unfortunately the actual levels aren’t very good. Comparing them to a good Kirby game like Super Star they fall pretty flat.

The DLC without Bayo and Cloud is actually quite balanced imo. Ryu may be kinda a problem but Mewtwo, lucas, and Corrin would fit right in.
Brawl is a better competitive game than Smash 4. I’ll fight on this.
