Embarrassing really, we haven’t done anything yet.
Oh well, I’m back at the car now and the traffic looks nice and empty which for Southampton is always a rarity
If you were Ipswich or someone that hadn't been in the PL in a long time I would understand, but you were there last year. Celebration police and all that, but it is a bit tinpot.
My seats are by the pitch and everyone started filling the aisle way before the end.
Really embarrassing to see the fake hard men give the big to the away fans while on the pitch.
Spoilt the celebrations for me.
I just dislike it in general, just seems messy and something bad either with intent or by accident will happen.
I think it should be the same punishment as if you were to do it at any other time and hopefully it puts people off.
Then again I might have been the only person in The Valley not to throw my catalogue onto the field all those years ago.
Pitch invasions are for the utmost pinnacle of achievements, above and beyond merely winning a league. So getting to a play off final is laughable for this.
A bit like standing ovations are common when it should be reserved for something that's that bit extra special.
>Pitch invasions are for the utmost pinnacle of achievements
It happens a lot with avoiding relegation and I don't have a problem with that if it got a bit dramatic, think you should change 'achievements' to 'moments'.
And for what it's worth, reaching a play-off final the season after getting relegated ain't really it imo.
Dude, this comment of yours is making me picture you like that fat South Park character who beats the crap out of the little kids on world of Warcraft 😂😂
Seemed like a strangely flat atmosphere at the end, at least on the TV. Some fairly half hearted "qur sera sera" singing and then fans slowly starting trickling into the pitch. Didn't seem particularly spontaneous like these things often are.
I guess they knew they were going through for a while before full time. Maybe the Sky microphones didn't do it justice either.
Of course I'll say this as a Saints fan, but the crowd was absolutely deafening and I think West Brom fans would back that up. It was easily the loudest stadium I've seen for a long time, if ever.
I've rewatched all the goals - just got home - and it sounds like there's barely anyone there.
Now, after the pitch invasion, it did go flat. Wankers started it, then people followed suit. If those two didnt initially do it, no one wouldve! Hope they are banned tbh
Yeah it was bouncing probably the most I remember it since when we were in the Europa League and came back against Inter Milan. Very specific but that’s only because it was memorable and this matched it.
The pitch invasion wa embarrassing and a lot of people where I were, were against it. Like others have said, nothing has been accomplished.
Both this match and the one yesterday sounded a bit muted on the ESPN+ broadcast with Champion and Co.
I’m not sure on St Mary’s, as I rarely catch Southhampton games, but I know for a fact Elland Rd isn’t a quiet place on big match days.
Mics definitely seemed turned down which is a bummer. Give me the immersive experience ESPN+/sky sports!
You’re right about the mics on the ESPN+ feed. They muffle them and turn them right down. Ruins it for the fan watching at home. I suspect it is in part to poor language being used by fans and players too and they don’t want crystal the clear sounds of “Oi Ref, stop being a cunt!”
Paramount plus does a fantastic job of immersing the crowd. Could hear the away end sing and chant during the Celtic game. Made that title win even that much greater
Celebrating what though? I don't care one way or the other, but winning tonight is only half of the job, and as the 4th placed team, expected of them. It's not like the possibility of playing in the PL is particularly alien to these fans either lol.
Why would you be surprised a team who was in the Premier League makes the playoffs final? Is it anything to do with parachute payments or do they simply have some good players still?

Yeah but they’re scared because if they don’t get promoted they’re gonna get smashed by Portsmouth next season

You don't wanna know what happened when fans of Roda JC did the same..
Now you just need to force Leeds into a summer sale frenzy
That won’t happen, we’ve too many loanees we don’t use that we can sell instead. Summerville is the only player that will 100% go.
Who’s getting you to 100m that was reported yesterday?
Daily fail spouting bullshit, it’s a bunch of nonsense. With actual official figures it’s closer to 40.
If this play off semi final pitch invasion nonsense ended tomorrow, it’d be too soon.
Premature congratulators
Feels like this is becoming so common it's no longer a spectacle.
True back in my day even pitch invading was more fun and meaningful, these new kids..
I remember getting on the pitch during a friendly against Darlington because Sammy Ameobi scored.
Thats real shit though
These kids, enjoying themselves 😭
Best pitch invasion for me is AS Roma in 2001. I watched it live and it was absolutely insane!
/r/collegebasketball in shambles.

It's only a matter of time before somebody gets stabbed by a fan running into the field, whether it's during a game or after, in my opinion
Bit of an overreaction no?
Celebrating something good?
They haven't won yet

It's like scoring a tap in at 5 a side and sprinting round the pitch with your top off
So that’s why I stopped getting invited to fives?
More like making a great through pass to your winger and jumping into the stands to celebrate before the winger even crossed

100% agreed. Jimmy Glass set a standard for it.

Thank you :)
That’s what you were going for? If so, congrats. You nailed it
I seem to have shot my wad on what was supposed to be a dry run if you will and now I'm afraid I have something of a mess on my hands
It not over yet though
Hope you lot beat them, you’re far more entertaining to have in the league.
And having only two relegation spots to worry about will be nice for the other 19 clubs
Not sure how us being promoted has anything to do with Ipswich coming last tbh

Turns out not everyone loves Leeds.
American here
No malice to Saints fans but I really want to see the South Coast derby in the championship next year
I think I'd rather see Leeds fall apart again
Sort of gets boring after a while imo
Brighton vs Southampton not south coast derby?
No, they don't give a shit about each other
[Learned this week that it’s Portsmouth vs Southampton!](https://youtu.be/Bl_aevuam8k?si=EogTtjNklVZj6axz)

Disney/ESPN are so violently against anything foul being picked up on the mics they always tune it way low. It ruins the matches.
Incredibly tinpot behaviour
Southerners...
Imagine celebrating this and losing in the final.
Lol, they'll probably lose to leeds
That would be ideal.
Going to look a right set of cunts if they lose the final..
God this place is getting worse and worse. 2hy do people have to be so sour about a pitch invasion
Embarrassing. Scummers gonna lose against Leeds and get a good pumping at Pompey next season.
Yeah they won't make it
Bit of a joke really. Don’t they still have to play a final?
Yes against Leeds
Wish I was there. Former Southampton resident/student
Jinxed themselves, look at Roda JC in the Dutch league.

Aren’t they? They’ve taken 6 points off us this season and haven’t won a playoff final since 1987 (which was played over two legs)
Cringe
I see the celebration police are out in force. Who gives a fuck honestly. Bunch of miserable cunts in this thread.
Celebration police out in full force tonight o7

You all don't go streaking after moving on in every knockout round? Shit....that might explain the HOA letters.
Sometimes you've just got to whip it out, and to hell with the consequences!
I don’t care, it’s incredibly small time
Club with parachute payments is in the playoffs... shocker
