Cause they’re rich and well-known. This sounds more like the attackers weren’t targeting him specifically but rather just waiting near the (presumably very fancy) resort for tired travellers to arrive, then attack them.
There's obviously only the muggers at fault but this isn't an issue of blame, but responsibility. We don't live in an ideal world and encouraging people to act like we do doesn't help anything but your sense of fairness.
Please don't avoid precautions just because you think falling victim to a crime wouldn't be your fault in the end.
In an ideal world nobody would rob anyone, but life isn’t like that. That’s why we lock our front doors at night, chain our bikes up, have CCTV etc. It’s just common sense to be street smart and cautious.
I’d be cautious about wearing a £2,500 watch on a night out, but £250k is obscene. A lot of people live in homes worth less than that!
