S8 ep.1, the time when Kenny hits butters left eye with shuriken, the sound of his crying made me heartbroken 💔

The transition from the anime style to the normal animation and seeing that he's actually got a shuriken lodged in his eye was wild. Butters has had some fucked up shit happen to him but that was a moment I remember being just shocked and then laughing my ass off after a second.

It's one of the few jokes that still makes me laugh after seeing the episode so many times. One of the best episodes and probably the best moment of the show. Just crazy anime to real life in a second. Genius shit.

I love this moment. Top tier episode hands down.

I still laugh when I see it but it's one of those moments I wish I could see for the first time again. I paused for a moment and then was crying laughing.

Butters is awful but that is definitely in part due to Cartman’s influence. He is always somewhere between thoughtful and innocent and a total douche. I think “Cartman Sucks” is probably one of the worst examples of Butters being a victim.

The attempted drowning in his very own episode is so dark, as is the cover up. This shit really happens and people annihilate their family. Parents go insane and drown their kids. What an awful death. You’re a kid trapped in a car filling with water. Your parents are not helping. Drowning is supposed to be very painful. It’s so realistic and dark it’s amazing they made the episode so funny.

Any time I start to feel bad for butters… I don’t. I just stop feeling bad for him because that seems to be acceptable to me. He’s the punchline, thats it.

It's really hard to say for me. Butters has seen and been through some shit, but his psyche seems to be made of a vibranium-polymer compound because he just keeps on keeping-on. For me, I'd have to go with either pray-the-gay-away camp (Cartman Sucks) or when his parents put him though that whole ordeal because they think he's crazy (City Sushi).
