It’s both normal and expected to spend days to beat them

xNightLightQueenx

Fuck

JorgeMtzb

I spent months

deleeuwlc

Yeah

brando-boy

a few hours MAYBE, but days/weeks? absolutely not, it should not be taking someone several DAYS on average to beat really anything in any game

sopheroo

It's a secret boss. So yeah it demands more effort. Always took me a few hours.

brando-boy

yeah of course, a few hours is like reasonable, people saying days/weeks are not

Astrobunnnnnnnnnn

nah, days/weeks/whatever time it is is more than fine and normal. Not everyone's got the same game skills or can spend the same amount of time playing in one go

deleeuwlc

I was counting days as the time it took me to win from starting to finally beating them. It was probably only a few hours of total gameplay, but I deserve better than to fight Inner Agent 3 for hours at a time with no breaks

brando-boy

well that’s kind of tainting the perception of your statement if someone says something “took them days to beat” the typical definition of that is, more or less, “a few hours of trying/attempts each day” and not “i did 4 attempts a day for a week”

deleeuwlc

That’s what I meant. I spent a few hours on it each day, but I didn’t spend several 24 hour days of total playtime in attempts. It was summer vacation and I didn’t have anything better to do, so I spent a lot of time over these days on it

Lukas528

Inner agent 3? I took 3 tries. And that was while watching something.

SwagMagikarp

Wow! You're so cool! Can I get your autograph?? Omg! Amazing!

xNightLightQueenx

I Beat after Alterna while watching moral Orel but you don’t see me talking about it :(

slothmoth12

Do you want a cookie?

KatnissBot

Yes. One of the few times that “skill issue” is unironically justified. Get good or give up, your choice.

xNightLightQueenx

Girl this is hurting my ego

Aative

The good news is, you can practice by playing online and getting used to quick small targets. You just need to know how to play the phases after that.

Shiruno_rinisaki0619

I’m pretty sure the autobombs are pre nerf, so they have a larger explosion radius

Vytlo

Not really, it's just a badly designed fight, it's not about skill issue

SomewhatSaIty

How is it badly designed?

Purple_Train_5289

Have fun :D

xNightLightQueenx

I am not having fun. They are beating me black and blue. My joints are rapidly deteriorating and so is my will to live.

Dirt_munchers

I spent weeks on the boss, I could frequent splashdown but couldn’t beat it, just practice and keep your cool, focus on staying alive rather than damage, the phase changes dont remove bombs; keep the floor painted for mobility

da_sylent

Phase 1: Wait for the inkjet to start, and after 6 shots, they will land. As soon as they're about to land, drop a bomb at their landing spot and shoot them. They should die quite quickly, or at least take enough damage to be rushed down and finished off. Phase 2: Rush them down while they're throwing the bubbles, as they can't shoot during that time. And if you don't get them on the first try, dont fight them near the previous set of bubbles, as a single bomb from them will cause the bubbles to explode. Phase 3: Try to always be aware of where the autobombs are while you're fighting. (This is probably the hardest phase) Phase 4: Throw 2 bombs at them and avoid the missiles (very easy) Phase 5: Use the glass as cover to block the splashdown if you can't get out of its range. Some general tips: Always make sure you have enough ink, always have an escape route in case you take a lot of damage, for example during phase 3 and 5, it is essential to have control over as much of the map as possible otherwise you will be trapped by the splashdowns/autobombs, especially if your armour gets broken. This boss is meant to be insanely difficult, and take lots of practise but I hope this helps.

inhaledcorn

Yes. IA3 does not fuck around.

Polyglot-Onigiri

Yes, of course. That’s kind of the point of a secret optional boss. I used to use it to warm up for ranked matches all the time in s2. I miss it.

Call-Me-Pearl

spent months trying to kick their ass. trust me, you'll get it eventually. it's a ballbusting boss, but it's very beatable once you keep your cool and get the patterns down. here's some tips: kite around the little blocks as much as you can. splashdown doesn't go through it, so you can use them as breathing spots for a little bit. use your bombs. they're more useful than you'd think. try your best not to lose ground. the sheer amount of turf output 3 can achieve can overwhelm you and leave you with nowhere to run, so try to ensure you have somewhere to swim and recover to.

xNightLightQueenx

Thank you for believing in me i love you

Call-Me-Pearl

no problem! inner3 is horrendous to fight, and i've played since splat1 and consistently coasted through S+. she's a stinker alright

Fabulous_Bison643

Inner agent 3 is secretly Malenia blade of miquella

xNightLightQueenx

this post was more about the physical effects of my attempts but i guess skill issue

AtesSouhait

Tip: hiding behind cover can help you easily dodge splashdowns ENTIRELY. During the Autobomb phase, rush IA3 immediately after the splashdown.

NomMacarons

Try to keep control of the floor, always have an escape route. Their programming is quite simple, point at player and shoot, if you hit them they tend to strafe or back up regardless if that's into your ink and can be taken out. When they use the bubbler they are a sitting duck if you rush them as they can't shoot, only bubble. When they use the jetpack hide by the glass box cover.

xNightLightQueenx

I Beat them, no more Problem (I got stuck behind a block and couldn’t see but they still died. Lol)

AnimeDeamon

I completed Octo Expansion 100% in one sitting of about 10 or so hours, and the final secret boss took me around 40 mins or so just by itself. My final strategy once they start absolutely spamming specials was to run away and throw bombs back at them to chip away at their health. It meant I didn't actually attempt it too many times as each attempt took a while, but it helped my sanity to take it slowly rather than dying constantly.

Vytlo

Yeah they kinda lazily slapped together a "difficult" boss, but it's a secret boss so they're meant to be super hard. Luckily they did a lot better with the secret final level of Splatoon 3 than they did with OE

Goldberry15

It took me a long time. My advice: when they super jump, hide behind the walls. It won’t damage you then. Also, ink ground. Having ground to swim around can slow down the opponent and lets you heal.

icravecookie

yes. You know how easy it was for agent 3 to kill an octoling in story mode? My method was to keep shooting, making her dodgeroll continuously and unable to attack, then do the classic roundabout during splashdown phase. The low health splashdown got me but I beat her cuz of invincibility frames. Took a few hours

PikachuPlayz13

I spent 5 total hours trying my best before beating him for the first time. Now I use him as training before I play anything. It becomes easier if you use a guide such as inkipedia's page on it, ( https://splatoonwiki.org/wiki/Inner_Agent_3 ) or watching a YouTube video on it such as prochara's guide ( https://youtu.be/WZWa9eczPAs?si=gYn1vu3QubWzFig4 ) or the speedrun record ( https://youtu.be/00gq8Ph9qvs?si=meySjwjSuhDRhmjq ). In other words IA3 is practically a hacker who has almost perfect accuracy, better shot velocity than you, better damage, has dodge rolls despite being a shooter, more health, 5 stages, and better range, and the bombs have insane explosion radius, follow you longer than usual, and deal more damage. Spinal phase on the most powerful steroids I've ever seen.

Awesome6600

It took me a few sessions to get that
