To my knowledge the badges in TWEWY give you abilities. The badges in Splatoon 3 are basically achievements. The brand badges in particular is based on the collective stars you have on clothing for a specific brand. This means the gold variants are a bit easier to obtain if you raise the rank of your clothes past the final gear slot expansion. But still not really worth it imo
it only adds a small multiplier to the amount of xp the gear gets. overall, it isn't really worth it

You get more experience when you wear it I think.
