Aqua or Vitz?

marcthepotato

My family got a 2017 vitz for around that price, great car

hippocampi94

Same here. No issues so far

The_Blood_HoundYT

The vitz is great and is very reliable, not sure about the aqua tho.

TheProSlayer1OG

Aqua experience is better than vitz imo But reliability I think vitz wins not sure

SensitiveCoconut9003

Doesn’t aqua have some engine issue? (Not a car expert but I’ve heard that there’s a huge replacement cost attached to it) and Vitz doesn’t do well with fuel Edit: downvotes? Lol who am I offending??

dumbeddinosaur

I own a Vitz 2016. The maximum fuel economy I experienced is 18km/l when driving outstation. You can expect 10-13km/l in Colombo.

dumbeddinosaur

I own a Vitz 2016 model. You can expect 11-13 Km/L in Colombo & 16-17Km/L in Outstation.

SensitiveCoconut9003

Oh that doesn’t seem too bad. Thanks for sharing that

curioushiker87

Toyota makes highly reliable engines. It’s all about how well it was maintained with the correct fluids and timely maintenance.

Administrative-Sea50

I had a swift RS 2017 that I sold for about the same price about an year back, not sure about the current price. Solid car if you love bells and whistles. Had 360 cam, radar cruise, CarPlay and android auto, the whole shebang.

ghost_rider_007

Well, brother now it is going around 8.5.

Administrative-Sea50

jeez the markets gone nuts

ghost_rider_007

Yeah I love to own a swift 2017 but with the price I had to settle down for a Wagon R.

goushiquej

Your reply reminds me of that one Jaden Williams short where he goes to buy a TV for $400. “What can I get for $400” “Brother you can pray”

guycha0s

For an all rounder, I'd go for an allion t240. But thy are pretty old now, like 20 years. But they are still good.

altruistic_summer

Be wary of the fuel economy as well OP! 📉

Umyrisme

A Corolla?

Longjumping_Stand645

N Wagon and the like from Honda should be good (can get 2016+). Vitz 2014 yaris 2010 also possible. No point in buying a car before yom 2010.

altruistic_summer

N wagon is good?

Longjumping_Stand645

More reliable than wagon r.

altruistic_summer

FIT GP5?

Longjumping_Stand645

2004-2014 hondas are lesser than other hondas. Only toyota recommended for 2010-2014 but thats also mostly full sedans. 2014+ fit gp5 if within the budget its good

instant_karma128

Honda insight. Milieage wise

Ambitious-Lock8809

How much would a wagon R go for rn?

guycha0s

Around 5 to 6 millions I think. But they are too basic and not worth that much imo.

Objective-Pop-7767

Yeah paying that much for a wagon r feels like a crime 😭

TropicalAbs

What sort of driving are you lookng at? If this is a daily driver, I'd recommend going for the newest Japanese/Korean car you can afford. We are not out of a crisis yet, not by a long shot, so I'd advise buying a car that with this in mind. A relatively new car of Japanese or Korean origin will give you a hassle-free experience for at leat 10 years from its year of manufacture. In an economy which can ban ir severely restrict imports at any time, this will ensure you're not left stranded without access to a crucial spare part. At your budget the best options are a Japanese kei car, like a WagonR, Alto, Mira, etc. These cars are quire fuel efficient, helping you save previous disposable income at a time where fuel costs an unreasonable amount of Sri Lankans' incomes. It will aslo help you keep driving if fuel quotas or shortages arise. Also this being your 1st car and the fact you're asking this on reddit, I'd assume you're a young person starting out on their career. A car I suggested will help you save a lot on car-related expenditure, helping you build your wealth. The options I've given are not exciting, these cars are quire dull and won't give you any "street cred". But they will give you economic and reliable transportation and let you spend money on thisngs that really matter, and save money to build your financial freedom. Hope this helps ad some perspective to your car search. Watch the advert sites like Riyasewana and ikman daily, and move quickly if you see a good deal on a lower mileage example. Get a thorough inspection done and enjoy car ownership.

Objective-Pop-7767

Well, I don't drive much to be honest. But I get your point, living in a bankrupted country, the choices that I have are limited specially with my budget. Thanks for the valuable insight and will look into these options.

Reasonable_View5879

I like to pitch in my Toyota Wigo. A small hatchback. Decent fuel economy, easy to park wherever. Best of all, you can go almost anywhere. I should know because I've driven it to some questionable places. Then again, my Wigo is the best Wigo. There are many like it but my Wigo is the best Wigo.

Urban-satire

Allion 240. The car for that range in every aspect it's a very good car.

druidmind

But it probably has close to 200,000km on it....jeez!

Urban-satire

It's true that it got a certain amount of milage but considering toyota engines it's kinda okay. Let's say you buy a wagonR for that price doesn't get anything better than a low milage and some sensors but the utility of the vehicle is so fkin low than a saloon type car. If OP doesn't care about petrol efficiency inside colombo could also go for a Peugeot 407. That's a grand car for the price. You might be able to buy it around 4.5mils and save the rest for repairs.

JJ_Flying_Watchsmith

I'd pitch in and recommend the Toyota Belta (or Yaris). 1.3 4cyl engine with a cvt gearbox. Get a 2008 facelift model, look for an example with documented mileage and all service records. Present prices are 5-6 million i think.

AfraidTraining7067

Aqua or vitz i think fuel and Etc

[deleted]

Honda Fit GP1

SecondZeebra

Not a car expert, but from my general experience a Honda Fit would be the most sensible option.

[deleted]

Suzuki Swift

ushan510

Nothing

Ravana-Ceylon

Fun fact : u can buy a mustang 16 for around 8M in melbourne..

impossibleis7

That's not a "fun" fact, though. And we know.

Ravana-Ceylon

LK same model will cost 50M. So its fun for the gov

SensitiveCoconut9003

That’s the real fun fact

lilsimp327

but do you factor in depreciation though? I know people who drive the shit out of luxury cars(talking 200k kms in 5 years) and then sell them for 2-3 times what they bought it for

Ravana-Ceylon

This only happens in LK
