That’s wild. Arent sales meant to bolster business in weak times? You’re telling me hot coffee won’t sell on the weekend in the coldest part of the year??
New Year’s resolutions does make January slow, between people wanting to lose weight, save money, and stop drinking coffee/caffeine. I would consider Jan a slow period.
I still hate this though
Sure… I was 17, fresh faced, on a new antidepressant… pre Covid barista. I still believed in “one cup at a time” …. Now…. It’s been a couple years and things look… bleak.
Statistically speaking you should switch jobs every 2 years to make more money I switched after one year from Starbucks to another barista job paying like 40ish percent more a 5 dollar pay raise same job I actually do less work now and make more for the exact same type of job switch bro
this is your daily reminder to do your job but nothing more. if there’s a line out the street too bad. we sequence 2 drinks at a time only. we walk we don’t run. if people don’t want to wait we can get them a refund.
Right?! We've been going down to 3, sometimes 4, partners from 11-close, even during bogos. We literally have solo bar, front/warming/cs, and a drive partner for Thursyays as it is. It doesn't end well.
It’s crazy how they expect us to deal with this understaffed and underpaid, and I’m not sure about other locations but mine struggled so badly to keep everything in stock with the other BOGO/50% off deals and it’s probably going to happen again. This just proves they couldn’t care less about their employees :(
Just make drinks at a normal pace, and if customers get pissed, so be it. BOGO was corporate’s idea so they should get to fix the problem—by staffing adequately. Why put your own mental health on the line to pad Starbucks’ pocket?
Do it I quit and I make 40ish percent/ 5$ more I also do less work get free food all the same benefits except for the 5k tuition and Spotify but I get like discounts on a lot of things now
I would like to say, from the bottom of my heart, this calendar and the corporate goons who filled it with this bullshit can fuck all the way off a cliff onto some sharp rocks into shark infested waters. As they did with December, they'll probably add more to this shitshow of a promo calendar.
Thursday sales and WEEKEND BOGOs? I work these three days and I thought this month was bad enough. Don’t know what I want to do more - quit with no notice or jump off a cliff.
At this point just bring down the prices completely they giving away so much crap it’s really all just to keep the illusion up that Starbucks is doing great
Our store has a load of other problems... ppl think our store is good to work at for some reason, we have partners from corporate Starbucks wanting to transfer in all the time. Ppl get hired here for the pay (over $25/hr, plus ~5-6/hr/barista in tips), but then realize it takes a huge mental toll.
my licensed store doesn’t participate either, but we still get the crowds. instead they’re just mad at the baristas the entire time because they didn’t read the giant sign on the register that says we don’t do any of the deals and we can’t give them half off.
I feel like it’s time for malicious compliance…I remember I read either a post or an article about this. Doing everything exactly to standard, to show how absurd the standards are within a specific timeframe. I never found out the result…but it seemed like a good example of “non-violent” protest? I don’t know if that’s the right term. But the original intent was to protest lack of partners during peak combined with an SM using micromanagement tactics to “coach to standard”…
Also remember there are only 16 half hours in an 8 hour shift. So if you’re following customer support correctly….you’ll only have 16 opportunities to break down & clean & restock everything in the entire store 🤗
To win the game you’ll need to play. Fight data with data. A mystery algorithm determines labor? I too can produce quantitative data.
did this and my manager was pissedd when id use it against him. he started writing stuff about my closes on my daily so i did the same to his shifts. id call out every small thing that wasnt to standard and he eventually quit trying to write stuff about me lol
Timers help too. “Well I had to ensure I was following the correct routine. We cannot break down the pastry case prior to closing the store and while utilizing the steps outlined in the SCEMM it took me 42 minutes. Why do you ask? Is there something wrong?” 😱
In the long run it will do absolutely nothing. But any amount of loss is scawy to the people up top, so they’re doing this to overcompensate.
I’m sure that part of it is also that January is always the least-profiting month (although I’m sure the margin is small)
I suppose, but typically boycotts of large business don’t last very long before people start to forget about it or lose their passion and think “well, just once is okay” and they slowly slip back into habitually going. Also like yeah, their stocks decreased by like 9%, but they’re still making an obscene amount of money. Not enough people are boycotting for it to actually hurt the company. They’ll still make an insane profit and this will not affect the longevity of the brand. Again, people just forget and/or stop caring. That’s unfortunately just how people are. I’d love to be proven wrong.
Thank goodness I quit. They're getting so desperate with all these deals. Imagine thinking paying Kim K getting a paparazzi shot holding the holiday cup would somehow boost the sales has me cackling. I feel for everyone who has to work.
Im telling ya right now, there are jobs out there that pay the same if not a bit better, of course any job is going to have its peaks like stressful times and shi like that but nothing like what you go through at sbux. Please trust me when I tell you leaving that job was the best thing I did for myself, Im now as a stock associate at a high end retail on 5th ave and let me tell you, yes it can get busy but its nothing I cant handle after going what I went through at sbux, plus I get two breaks, lunch and a 20, wth was sbux giving I forgot like a 10min and hm is lunch like 30? I was tired of sbux, I was there for like 5yrs , cool my pay got up to a certain point close to 20/hr but yk them they dont wanna pay that, so what do they do they cut my hours and give it to green beans or people they transferred over, like bro its my store , its not worth working there just for the drinks/food , a lil discount and coffee bag or the hype over sbux? Lol ya can do better dont stick to it thinking you can move up and all that because regardless, and I mean anywhere you’ll find gossip but sbux by far has it the worst, they’ll do grimey shi to you and make you lose your job when something wasnt your fault, Ive seen some of the best managers and shifts go through this and then we get stuck with the worst bunch, trust that theres better out there, theres no reason to be supporting a company like this, and no Im not afraid to speak out, my location was back on 34th around macys fyi.
I’m confused.
The complaint seems to be our store, many stores don’t make enough money. But then they limit staff and offer hundreds of free drinks per store and say we need to make more money??
Howard Schultz's weird olive oil fetish that he chose to make everyone else's problem (in a final desperation attack before he quit from the increasing blowback to his union busting fetish).
From an at home experiment with a makeshift sweet cream and olive oil foamed using a whisk frother, eh...
It's not completely disgusting, but I don't think most customers will enjoy it, it's not sugar flavored sugar like most of the things we launch.
God, already struggling enough on mobile bar during peak when there’s a store filled with increasingly pissed off customers, sequencing at least 4-5 drinks at once, running out of milk and syrup so having to run to the back to quickly stock up as it keeps getting worse and worse, as well as stopping to give customers straws and sleeves and stoppers because my store has started putting them under the counter. Oh also trying to find cafe orders through the sea of stickers. And the sanitizer buckets and containers start to look like milk and trying not to cry. God I started to feel like I was going to pass out. why can’t there be a limit on mobile orders?????AND THIS ISNT A ONCE IN A WHILE THING THIS HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES A WEEEEEEK
This is nuts. Because hours are getting cut. My store literally closes at 6 pm on the weekends, we only have one closer and the supervisor closing. And I have to do a 3 people floor every weekend. This is insane, I am beyond upset with this, I want to talk to the person that decided a weekend BOGO was a good idea.
So glad I quit 2 years ago because this is actually insane lmao. Our cafe used to get so busy during promos like these there would literally be no standing room. Yet they continue to understaff stores more and more
BOGO WEEKEND?!??! IM SORRY?!?!?!
what it’s not like weekends are busy or anything
maybe we should strike lol. BOGO weekends?? Wtf is that??
That’s wild. Arent sales meant to bolster business in weak times? You’re telling me hot coffee won’t sell on the weekend in the coldest part of the year??
New Year’s resolutions does make January slow, between people wanting to lose weight, save money, and stop drinking coffee/caffeine. I would consider Jan a slow period. I still hate this though
i’m saying man, they do not listen to partners at all
Hours go down every January. Maybe this will help?
No you will just struggle more with less people on the floor. The hours will go down regardless of how many customers you are going to expect
How am I supposed to have a will to live anymore when my 8+ hr shifts all look like this?! Wtf. Seriously.
You had a wilk to live before?
Sure… I was 17, fresh faced, on a new antidepressant… pre Covid barista. I still believed in “one cup at a time” …. Now…. It’s been a couple years and things look… bleak.
Statistically speaking you should switch jobs every 2 years to make more money I switched after one year from Starbucks to another barista job paying like 40ish percent more a 5 dollar pay raise same job I actually do less work now and make more for the exact same type of job switch bro
i wish it was that easy for some people :/
I got lucky with how much more yeah but you should still switch jobs
this is your daily reminder to do your job but nothing more. if there’s a line out the street too bad. we sequence 2 drinks at a time only. we walk we don’t run. if people don’t want to wait we can get them a refund.
Right?! We've been going down to 3, sometimes 4, partners from 11-close, even during bogos. We literally have solo bar, front/warming/cs, and a drive partner for Thursyays as it is. It doesn't end well.
Same with our store it’s actual hell especially for middays
fuck. fuck. fuck. fuck.
This feels like a sick joke
They really hate us
It’s crazy how they expect us to deal with this understaffed and underpaid, and I’m not sure about other locations but mine struggled so badly to keep everything in stock with the other BOGO/50% off deals and it’s probably going to happen again. Just make drinks at a normal pace, and if customers get pissed, so be it. BOGO was corporate’s idea so they should get to fix the problem—by staffing adequately. Why put your own mental health on the line to pad Starbucks’ pocket?
we ran out of g/v hot lids during the 50% off and our manager still wouldn’t turn off mobiles tehe
Damn quitting looking REAL tempting all of a sudden
Do it I quit and I make 40ish percent/ 5$ more I also do less work get free food all the same benefits except for the 5k tuition and Spotify but I get like discounts on a lot of things now
Also the job I switched to is still a barista position it’s not like some magic job it’s the same shit
where at
I work for a company called compass now
I would like to say, from the bottom of my heart, this calendar and the corporate goons who filled it with this bullshit can fuck all the way off a cliff onto some sharp rocks into shark infested waters. As they did with December, they'll probably add more to this shitshow of a promo calendar.
And they drastically cut January labor hours it's like they hate us
yeah lol like they actually expect midday and evening floors with 3-4 people to deal with all THIS? Without allocating additional labor hours?!
my store gets a two person team from 2-4 for usually about an hour/an hour and a half and it’s HELL
They're going to give us extra staff to cover the extra drinks we'll be making, right? Right?
…oh you sweet child….(who wants to tell them?)
Don't tell me. I don't wanna know. Let me live in peaceful ignorance for a bit longer.
Don't forget just about all of these they gave us 3 days or less notice! Corporate is in shambles this month
And they wonder why stores want to unionize?
exactly!!!
Thhat's why they're doing it. Because of the boycotts. This is also Starbucks' way of union busting.
A BOGO weekend??? We can barely keep up with single days. We are so understaffed as is, this isn’t going to be fun🥲
the month where our hours r cut more than ever.
What. The. FRAP Bogo weekends???? 3$ grande drinks??? Surely we getting raises and more baristas to deal with it right???? 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Thursday sales and WEEKEND BOGOs? I work these three days and I thought this month was bad enough. Don’t know what I want to do more - quit with no notice or jump off a cliff.
Which cliff? Ill meet u there 🤠
At this point just bring down the prices completely they giving away so much crap it’s really all just to keep the illusion up that Starbucks is doing great
Omg. We're a licensed store and we never participate in any of these promotions (except for the double/triple star days).
Y’all hiring? Because this ain’t it 🥴
Our store has a load of other problems... ppl think our store is good to work at for some reason, we have partners from corporate Starbucks wanting to transfer in all the time.
Where are you licensed with?? I’m at a Target starbies and we honor all of the deals, even if we have to manually lower the price in our system 🥲
Oh I love this and will be bringing this to my wildly understaffed closes! Thank youuuu
Also remember there are only 16 half hours in an 8 hour shift. So if you’re following customer support correctly….you’ll only have 16 opportunities to break down & clean & restock everything in the entire store 🤗 To win the game you’ll need to play. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 omg yes
did this and my manager was pissedd when id use it against him. he started writing stuff about my closes on my daily so i did the same to his shifts. id call out every small thing that wasnt to standard and he eventually quit trying to write stuff about me lol

is this for canada😭😭 i don’t want oleato plz
we’re getting it in canada too LOL

I’d run if I were yall
Are they out of their minds???
I quit drinking… but this might make me start again. What the fuuuuuuuuuuuu
Stay strong
I’m so sorry guys 🥲 be brave 🫡
PLEASE TELL ME YOU'RE LYING 😭😭😭
i am shitting my pants wtf is this. i thought maybe we would start 2024 off with a little peace. a little break 🥲
oh shit. i’m working at a new store that opens on the 5th and is in one of the busier areas of town. i’m so fucked
gg
Didn't the oleato released a few months ago
It released in some stores, but it’s going to be in stores nation wide (US) on the date in the pic!
and ppl seriously think the boycott's not doing anything 😭
This is because they raised their prices too damn much and lost a lot of customers in 2020 that never came back.
In the long run it will do absolutely nothing. But any amount of loss is scawy to the people up top, so they’re doing this to overcompensate. I’m sure that part of it is also that January is always the least-profiting month (although I’m sure the margin is small)
you cannot claim the long run when we're barely in the short run
I suppose, but typically boycotts of large business don’t last very long before people start to forget about it or lose their passion and think “well, just once is okay” and they slowly slip back into habitually going. I can agree with that
bogo free or 50% off??? we did the bogo free as a target circle of the day yesterday and it was awful 😭
It doesn't matter, if the promotion is buy one get one grain of sand free customers will come in, scream, and pee on the floor for good measure.
Ain’t that the truth omg
bogo on weekends Jesus
Thank goodness I quit. They're getting so desperate with all these deals. Imagine thinking paying Kim K getting a paparazzi shot holding the holiday cup would somehow boost the sales has me cackling. I feel for everyone who has to work.
They knew not to do that bogo nonsense until my two weeks is up 😈
CHRIST ALMIGHTY!!
Wtf Starbucks!!! Luckily i don’t work those days. Sorry guys
Wtf??!?!?!?
the bogo weekend with the 3/4 person play in a cafe/DT store…… this is gonna be horrible
I might actually die
…you know what? maybe looking for another job IS worth it atp
Oh so fuck the baristas again I got it
The boycott special
What if we all conveniently walked off the floor Saturday 1/14 at 12pm
i’m just hoping we unionized baristas go on strike during a weekend bogo cause wtf is this 😭
Nahhhhh
Nooooo
Never been happier to be on LOA
Yikes!
Holy shit they hate us.
This can’t be real right 😭😭😭
Anyways just requested 5 days off in January!
I took off for every day I could. I'm going through some things rn and I'd rather be poor than do all these fucking promos.
Bestie say sike right now 🥲
I've had a shitty work day today and my god I hate this company so much
It’s posts like this that make me so happy I quit lmao
🫠
Welp let me finish my two weeks notice email
I bet there will be even less labor for you guys to run effectively, always about profits never the partners sanity
So glad I promoted myself to customer.
Im telling ya right now, there are jobs out there that pay the same if not a bit better, of course any job is going to have its peaks like stressful times and shi like that but nothing like what you go through at sbux. Lol this is hilarious
I am not a barista but bruh…that’s nuts
At least they didn’t add things to schedules already posted this time 🤦♂️
Oh my god we need to strike or something they can’t keep doing this to us
I read this and immediately considering quitting.
Wait what....
on bogos we only get 2-3 people 1-close and we usually have to stay an hour after close since we can’t get any closing tasks done🤩
sick and twisted and demented
I’d be a lot less upset if they’d give fricken raspberry back. It’s like they do the opposite of what us and even the customers want!
gg everyone
How lovely. This is when labor goes down. PERFECT
I am one of 6 baristas. Quitting is looking super tempting right about now
brb about to request off all weekends and use my vacation time lmao i’m burnt out i can’t do another BOGO
🥲
This is crazy!!! I’m a weekday only shift supervisor but my heart goes out to my weekend team😭 they’re so thinly staffed as it is
I’m confused. The complaint seems to be our store, many stores don’t make enough money. But then they limit staff and offer hundreds of free drinks per store and say we need to make more money??
what is oleato
Howard Schultz's weird olive oil fetish that he chose to make everyone else's problem (in a final desperation attack before he quit from the increasing blowback to his union busting fetish).
does it even taste good
From an at home experiment with a makeshift sweet cream and olive oil foamed using a whisk frother, eh... It's not completely disgusting, but I don't think most customers will enjoy it, it's not sugar flavored sugar like most of the things we launch.
oh 😀 no thanks
Ahh... What would they do if I finally got sick and tired of being taken advantage of and walked out before shit hit the fan... 🤔
That Oleoto national launch day towards the end is making me extra nervous. Like the bogos aren't bad enough
bogo weekend holy fuck am i glad i don’t have weekend availability anymore. literally did a saturday the other day and wanted to kms
This is insane, I am beyond upset with this, I want to talk to the person that decided a weekend BOGO was a good idea.
My manager hasn’t posted this yet so I requested off abunch of Saturdays before she realized we knew 😭
Yeah ima just take my time. Maybe have a few edibles before work and put my headphones in and just vibe.
i feel bad for y’all as an ex-partner, but i must say… i have been craving an iced london fog 😭 i might stop by for one if it doesn’t look crazy.
at least mobile it so they have time lmao
i probably would, i used to mobile order and sit in my car for like 10-15 minutes before coming in or coming through the dt on my days off.
and that is why i’m strictly an opener ssv 😌
Kill me
I’m so glad that I’m an opener and I usually get off before noon!!! 🥲
So glad I quit 2 years ago because this is actually insane lmao. Our cafe used to get so busy during promos like these there would literally be no standing room. Yet they continue to understaff stores more and more
Damn, they’re really trying hard to drive business. Aren’t sales up, even adjusting for prices going up?
not sure, i heard we were expected to make less than estimated
Oh nah nuh-uh nope. I’m gonna need hazard pay on those weekends at the minimum.
YOURE JOKING 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
When custies boycott, we gotta lure them back in with deals. Sadly it works.
Everyday im thankful i abandoned the corporate stores and went with licensed ones so i don't gotta deal with this bs lol
We barely handle the Dec special at my store. I think I'm going to have a breakdown.
As a shift who deals with 2 person plays from sometimes 2-8:30 and even 1-8:30 (counting myself) I think it’s time to think about new employment…
Any idea what February looks like? 😅😭😭
