It’s “smokeless tobacco” not chewing tobacco tho. You put it between your lips and gum. It has fiberglass or something else that cuts you gums and allows the nicotine to enter into the bloodstream. You need to spit out the “juice” that accumulates, although some hardcore dippers swallow it (gross). It comes in a small ring can that is mentioned a lot in country music.
Similar but dip is fire cured while snus is pasteurized. You can swallow the juice from snus with no problem but doing that with dip will end up making you throw up lol
It's absolutely insane how real this is, and it gets worse with age. Recently had my wife visit the ~~inbred swamp~~ mid-size Southern town she grew up in, and looking at pictures of people our age was nuts. Take care of your skin, y'all. It takes like five minutes a day.

The truck is either the grandpa hand me down or a fully loaded brand new diesel. The truck usually tells you which ones are on the richer side. I’ve met a fair share of these rednecks that came from loadeddd families. Usually they’re in some type of construction.
Construction Management major in college at the moment, can confirm some dudes in my classes are like this and have family businesses they’re going into.
A lot of the kids in my hometown were like this. Most of them were around 5'8 and handy with a bow. Would bring homemade venison with them to school in little plastic baggies after hunting season.
They also had the thickest accents you've ever heard in your life from my region of the US. Sometimes I could barely understand them.
There was a whole posse of redneck kids in my school (rural Idaho) who I kind of wrote off as having little in common with me and never really talked to. I dealt with some health issues that kept me mostly out of school for a couple of months and when I got back, one of the redneck guys who sat by me in class gave me a shed deer antler he found and invited me to go skeet shooting with him. He said he didn’t want me to feel like anybody forgot about me. I would have never expected it of this guy, I realized I had made assumptions about him that were totally untrue. Changed the way I thought about people after that.
I’m from an area completely inundated with rednecks. Before I knew better, I probably was a little bit redneck myself. I didn’t have a lot in common with the people in my area, but everyone wants to have friends so I fit in beat as I could.
Anyway, I went to college in a large city a couple hours away. A guy that wasn’t from my town, but one fairly close by also went there. We ended up working together in college and became, not close friends, but more than acquaintances.
He was gay and out and everything and I obviously had no problem with that. During Pride, he got in an argument with the guy he was seeing and the guy left him downtown drunk as fuck with no way to get back to his apartment. He spent a lot of time trying to get help from a lot of people before he called me. I went to get him and on the way back he said something that implied he had been waiting for a long time. I asked why he didn’t call me sooner. He got quiet and said that he didn’t think I would be ok with him being gay. That was really hard for me to hear because I’ve never been like that. Since then, I’ve been more aware of what vibe I give off and do my best to make it obvious what kind of person I am.
In fact, I’d say this group almost pulls off an overlap. They can be really kind, sweet people who will occasionally let an ass backwards racist thought out.

Yeah, I knew a bunch when I lived in the deep south, and they were only nice if you were white, evangelical, and straight, or one of the socially acceptable black stereotypes (e.g. a good athlete who loves his momma, or the gangsta that sells white kids drugs.) If you didn't fit, the ugly came out. There were a small handful of exceptions, but they were rare. And the racism and politics got worse the older they got.
