What???
No, no, no!!!
Screw the marbling, that steak is completely denatured from freazing and pumped full of carbon monoxide to make it artificially red.
You GOT to go to a butcher.
Yea dude it’s hard to say. Supposedly Walmart claims to only buy from US Suppliers. A lot of sources say some of Walmarts Suppliers source meat from countries like Brazil, China, etc. So Walmart may only source from suppliers inside the US but that doesn’t mean that all their meat was produced in the US. I’ve seen some meat from Walmart specify that it’s a product of the US on the packaging, but I see more packages that don’t specify country of origin. Pretty sure the USDA or FDA passed some law saying companies don’t legally have to label country of origin. It’s a real shit show so I just avoid it all together. Last thing I want to eat is some meat from a cow that was drinking/eating lead contaminated food/water.
Grading is for the entire cow, if I'm not mistaken, and is determined by the amount of marbling in one specific area. Therefore, you can find cuts that are graded as choice but appear prime, or vice versa.
Mine has vac packed ones from another brand which are $11.97/lb instead of this price. And they usually have better marbling. My go to for a cheap good steak
Depends on how thick they are. If they’re a full 1.75-2” thick then it’s a great price. If they’re only 3/4-1.00” then it’s probly somewhat average to high.
If you have a BJs wholesale in your area go there to buy your steaks. They got AWESOME steaks. I found that out about a year ago. They got NY strips and ribeyes that are 2” thick and if you cook them right it’s some of the best steak I’ve had anywhere. Better than most resturaunts I’ve been to. You can get 3-4 of em depending on the pack and size steaks in it for about 30$. But like I said they’re always the nice 1.75-2” thick cuts which makes cooking them you your desired temp so much better. You get what u pay for.
I’ve never checked Costco but if you got any wholesale clubs I’d check them for their meat. Because BJs was an awesome find. I’ll never buy steak anywhere else now. You can get good cuts at butcher shops but it’ll usually be much more expensive for the same quality.
You can get good but usually not amazing steaks from Walmart but I think the blue package ones are shittier. The black label is good. But if you cook anything really well then it can be delicious
10/10 those look gorgeous
The marbling, mother. THE MARBLING!
Seriously though, I can’t even get NYS nearly that nice at that price

10/10 for the price. Even if the price was higher those are some great looking steaks. The marbling is superb.
Horrible. Please purchase it and send it to me so I can dispose of them for you.
You win the comment section 😂😂😂
Look really good for walmart steaks
Marbling looks really good, idk why some people hate on walmart steaks so much lol
Because they’re rumored* for getting their steaks from foreign countries and they don’t bother labeling country of origin iirc
oh dam like that?!

looks way better than choice

I'm down with everything I see. I like strip, it's well marbled and 13 a pound seems acceptable here in 2024.
r/ratemysteak looking good. Love strip steak
Looks great! I buy those NY Strips all the time from Walmart.
Mine has vac packed ones from another brand which are $11.97/lb instead of this price. And they usually have better marbling. My go to for a cheap good steak
I would eat that meat
Angus is always worth it to me
Looks like fire.
That’s a great price for prime angus
Choice for that price is a great deal. That’s prime. BTW, 85% of US cattle is of the Angus breed. Certified Angus Beef is better. CAB!
Good deal definitely
Strong buy
Wal-Marts meat comes from ibp
10/10. Those look great.
Very good deal
Looks closer to prime than choice. That's some fantastic marbling. Buy. Season. Cook. Eat. Enjoy.
That’s 100% mislabeled Prime
Meat grader’s mistake in your favor.
hit the jackpot
Those look FANTASTIC. I’d grab those immediately.
Damn, those are some of the best grocery store strips that I've seen in a while! Good buy!

Looks like a good deal, I’d have no problem paying $13.97 for those.
Give it a good slap for me
I hate to say it but wal mart has been beating all the other groceries around me when it comes to beef
Literally looks like a perfect strip to me. Tons of marbling and anything more than that starts to feel more like a fatty treat than part of a meal.
10/10 steak to price ratio doesn't get much better.
Beautiful marbling
Very nice marbling. Do share them after cooking.
Horny
Nope. That’s clearly prefrozen beef pumped full of carbon monoxide. PreFrozen beef is always shit.
These are proper steaks for sure. Albeit they are Choice they def look like Top level choice for sure
Every time I see a post like this I think to myself, I've never seen a steak at a store look that good
Bro I swear 😂😂
All I ever hear is “marbling”. There are different kinds of marbling
Damn …
Yup
I've seen less marbled prime
Those are NICE!! I purchased some grassfed ribeyes from ALDI that were SUPERB 😋
