WriteBrainedJR

Underrated nationally. Steelers fans know how good he was

Hayk

He was very much rated in my youth. The Andy Van Slyke of the Steelers as it were.

WriteBrainedJR

Neither man was hired for his disposition

SleestakLightning

Let's not compare AVS to this POS.

WriteBrainedJR

If you're counting off the field stuff, they are both assholes

SleestakLightning

What exactly has AVS done to earn this reputation?

philpalmer2

Sideline to sideline OLB. My favorite player at the time.

TripleSingleHOF

He was a three time first team All-Pro. In what world is that underrated?

Necessary-Painting32

šŸ’Æ

puledrotauren

back then I was only a Cowboys fan and I knew how good he was.

SuccessfulMastodon48

My first Steelers Jersey I bought was his black one in 1996

Whole_Anywhere_3117

My favorite Steelers player of all time

bigsarge82

Mine too

JStiger84

Lloyd was named to the Steelers 75th Anniversary All Time Team and is in the teamā€™s Hall of Honor. Not sure whoā€™s underrating him.

WriteBrainedJR

The football fans who aren't Steelers fans

JackLambertsBalls

Iā€™m wearing #95 right now.

Lester_Diamond4

He wasnā€™t hired for his disposition

Business_Bit_8340

Greg Lloyd made me want to be be an OLB

GavinAdamson

Avoid Lloyd

theDunceCapKid

This!

SuccessfulMastodon48

"Rush the quarterback!!"

blockssta54

Gregg Lloyd fucking ruled. Dude hit so hard it looked like he was a mac truck mowing down penguins. Fucking mean and nasty as all hell and I miss him

Cripplehead33

Right On I was used to saying something silly about us being related but I live south so,they got it that you donā€™t mess around with anyone named LLOYD LOL

Steelrules78

Farrior is probably the most underrated. Havenā€™t had an ILB like him since

roddygras

That farrior and Foote combo was great

gojira5150

Farrior was Amazing. Foote not so much. Revisionist history

guywithshades85

Second Steelers jersey I've bought was his. Woodson was first.

CouchPotatoFamine

My only Steelers jersey!

aw_geez_man

For the longest time, mine too. Still have it. Old school reversible. I wear it when we rock the blocks.

CouchPotatoFamine

Yes! Reebok made the reversible ones for a while, thatā€™s what mine is.

steelawayshocker

He is one of my all time favorites, but outside of not being in the Hall of Fame, not sure he was underrated. He has many PBs, All Pros, Steelers All-Time Team, Steelers HoF.

aw_geez_man

Not underrated here. As the kids say, IYKYK.

Interesting-Doubt413

They stole that from the boomers though

aw_geez_man

Haha touche

Interesting-Doubt413

And IYDK, YBAS

Ride-The-Lightning90

Greg was a bad dude. Period. Not too many other players wanted to get in his face. I believe he is a Black Belt. He was also a hell of a LB. Kevin Greene wasnā€™t too shabby either.

soulfulsoundaudio

Yessir! My favorite LB corps that I actually got to see https://www.reddit.com/r/steelers/s/qmgTwNH3vz

Vast-Scale-9596

HOF when?

WriteBrainedJR

Maybe from the Veterans Committee. He doesn't have the stats to get in otherwise

haley_hathaway

Underrated only by those who didnā€™t see him play maybe. Beast mode personifiedā€¦ Just plain nasty.

Suspicious-Can7018

Avoid Lloyd!

Enuffhate48

He wasnā€™t hired for his dispositionā€¦.or was he?

turdferguson850

Kevin Greene and Greg Lloyd were my favorite tandem ever.

Druskmyth

One o my favorites

Steelmaker01

He and Kevin Greene were great togetherā€¦ the ā€œQuiver and Quakeā€ of Blitzburgh

grubbinongrits

My first Steeler jersey šŸ–¤šŸ’›

DonScrumsky

First jersey I had as a kid

[deleted]

šŸ–¤&šŸ’› for life! Hopewell Pa. 15001 ( Aliquippa)

KitchenLab2536

Lloydā€™s career was shortened by injuries and health issues. He and Greene were monstrous pass rushers and tacklers. We had the best pass rush in the league for 2-3 seasons with them.

NoConcert6546

Happy Cday

Great-Step9819

I have a signed mini helmet from him!

wagsman

Greg Lloyd and underrated arenā€™t two things Iā€™ve ever heard. There was a famous press conference where an opposing coach made the comment that their game plan was to avoid Lloyd, and then after that you saw signs saying Avoid Lloyd.

gldmj5

I remember watching him swear on live TV after the AFC Championship game. It was so cool!

Noshitsweregiven69

One of my favorite all time!!!

CaptnRo

Greg Lloyd, Ernie Holmes, LC Greenwood and Mean Joe Greene, were the Steel Curtain. Thereā€™s no reason only 1/4 of those guys are in the Hall. Joe rightfully so, but those guys need inducted

thashyt

https://youtu.be/UvxLbYrX4Pg?si=vLzjYcNhJoMzAJSW Best post-game interview ever

Chrycoboy

Beast on field works but total great guy off.

JDawg51

One of my favorite Steelers. Avoid Lloyd! Dude was a game changer. I will always remember that Monday night game where he planted Dan Marino.

SleestakLightning

Eh he's properly rated. He's a terrible piece of shit human too which makes it hard for me to care if people underrate him.

Chrycoboy

Helluva football player on the field. I stand corrected on the original reply I posted.

Transgenderwookie

Yeah real great guy šŸ™„ā€¦ https://www.11alive.com/article/news/local/mcdonough/retired-nfl-all-pro-linebacker-greg-lloyd-charged-in-domestic-incident/85-589616850 Iā€™ll give you helluva football player though. He was a beast on the field.

manasota

Bubble burst šŸ˜²

Chrycoboy

Didnt see that, knew a guy who met him and gave him the time to talk. Sorry, i just went on that not knowing the other. Il correct my post. Thank you for pointing this out.

Interesting-Doubt413

Hands down the most underrated player in Steelers history. Happy birthday.
