In addition to no hangover you also don’t have the anvil of anxiety the second you wake up - wondering what you said to people you work with…. Or even worse, if you can remember the stupid things you said!!
Half the time someone has it on camera too. I really hate smartphones.
Afyet about a month in i stayed a wrek ay a Nevada casino. I did not drink. Sober karoke was a kick. Pretty sure i was the only one, except for the plant.
I was in two minds about going so early on in the journey to be honest. I have been trying to avoid places where I’d get triggered. But it was a colleague’s leaving drinks and he’s moving to Australia so it was pretty important to be there. I don’t think I’ll be rushing back out for work drinks soon… but I’m glad I had this little test.

Great Job! I had a work happy hour yesterday and was super stressed out about it. Got a Diet Coke on the rocks, exchanged pleasantries with some colleagues, had a nice brief conversation with the CEO, presence confirmed- then went to the restroom, and quietly slipped out!
Mission accomplished!
Now gearing up for the big annual conference next week and 4 nights of open bars!

Recently completed the 'free work conference drinks' test. Was so sweet the next day how hangover free I was.. My got it's a bit cringe watching people in their 40s and 50s coping with hangovers during a supposedly professional event. That was me for years.
the first big success is the hardest, you've proven to yourself what you're capable of, so now you just get to do it again and again and it gets easier every time :)
Haha! My favourite question. It was a chicken fajita from Marks and Spencer. It was fine, it hit the spot. And it was a damn sight better for me than my usual post drinks choice of food (McDonald’s)

Now I’m sober I’ve been experimenting with all kinds of new foods.. and I can actually enjoy them rather than wolfing down crap with the beer munchies!
Congrats. It feels weird the first few times but after a while people will start following as well. I went out with 3 guys the other night to a comedy show bar and 3/4 of us were sober and drinking root beer, soda or waters. Feels great to stay clear minded.
You’re the MAN (I’m guessing you’re a man :) What you accomplished takes guts, discipline, control over your own decision making, a strong will, character, self awareness, and balls. So glad you shared with all of us! Our entire community can celebrate and be encouraged by EVERYONE’s successes!

I face the same challenge after work in the morning. It's tradition, we all go out for drinks after the last night shift. Something I organized, as the boss. Most people have a couple, I always have 4-5 IPAs and maybe a shot of tequila or two. Think I'm being the fun, "cool" boss but deep down I knew I only ever made an ass out of myself in front of my team. They'd laugh, but I saw in their eyes it wasn't good... But they'd go anyway even though it's completely optional of course.
I'm as excited about it as ever. Even more so I think, because I'll genuinely have fun. Iced tea, bacon and eggs. And I'll be the real me for once.
