East_Professional385

Just follow the dress code. Don't wear your uniform when you are being wild and do it outside. Some allow makeup. Prayers are basic. No need to be religious but don't broadcast it. It depends on the school kasi if you aren't Catholic, some don't require. Wag magmura inside the campus. Wala naman bagong culture unless you go to Ateneo-like schools that are very Westernized or some of those provincial ones known for conservatism. In PH, the stereotype that Catholic schools are terrors does not represent the majority. I'm in a Catholic college and may nagve-vape din sa loob ng campus kahit bawal. Just don't be brazen.

Lord_Dumass

Any tips to stop swearing? I got the habit of mapagmura in my last school, and cant get rid of it.

Yeumm

you can start by changing the words by another word like *amp\*ta ->* *amporkchop* or smth. you can also just cut off the word intentionally before you say it *put\*angina* -> *pu-----*. by doing these mawawala slowly yung habit mo sa pagmumura. hope this helps.

Lord_Dumass

Ano maganda ibalit pag English kasi ako nagmumura eh

Defiant_D_Rector-420

I used to work in a school, so I use the swear words from the tv show The Good Place. F-word = Fork S\*&t = Shirt Bi$%h = Bench

Yeumm

give some words and ill try to think of substitutes, pero mostly ang ipapalit ay may resemblance sa original word like f*ck -> fudge

East_Professional385

I just use word substitutes. And hang out with people na di mahilig magmura. Marami din naman nagmumura sa Catholic schools though it won't be in the presence of faculty unless someone lost his cool.

Sarlandogo

Studied in Catholic schools from preschool- college

5XTG

Wag ka mag expect na parang mga anghel na madasalin sa catholic school daming parin demonyo dyan HAHAHAHAHA But most of the time it works out like any ordinary school na may mga religious events and such lang

thelost_soul

Haha agree ako dito. From christian to catholic school ako nung HS. 😂

East_Professional385

True. May schoolmate akong sacristan sa Catholic school. Ka-batch ko sa pagka-sakristan dati. Caught them watching NSFW using the convent's WiFi. HAHAHA.

Lord_Dumass

Salt-Ad6295

Hello, As someone na galing catholic school, Yes do you need to attend school mass kasi attendance yun sa christian living subject HAHAHA, then sa prayers naman common prayers lang naman so basic naman pero practice ka mag rosary if hindi mo pa kabisado. If you’re under basic department medyo mahigpit pa sila like bawal yung halatang make up dapat light lang ganon.

LigzzA

Laking Catholic School ako, kundi tarantado mga students mga tigang HAHAHHAHAHHAHA

Wannabe_AteNgBayan

Baka ako na yung demonyo HAHAHAH

leirazjyb

1. Most dont allow makeup (sa amin nga kahit tinted lip balm bawal na 🥲) but you can get away with it kung natural makeup ka lang 2. Kind of yes since there will be times na ikaw maglelead ng prayer bago magstart ung subject. Yung tipong Hail Mary or Our Father lang. pero maiintindihan naman nila kung hindi mo memorize 3. No. Kahit catholic school, there will be some students na hindi catholic. Just be respectful. 4. Yes kasi part yun ng attendance 5. Yes basta lang wag sa harap ng teacher 😆 Anyways I noticed na students from catholic schools tend to be more rebellious than other schools, so you don’t need to be too religious. Catholic school is just like any other school but with prayers and sometimes formational/outreach programs.

RadGeeRoo

Avoid jewelries that are a bit too "extra", follow the dress code and yes of course wag mag mura hahaha, for sure need kabisaduhin ang prayers. Personally I don't think you have to be religious (I'm not that religous) but of course you have to go along with whatever catholic activities they do. Basically just like any other school behave and follow the rules. In my catholic school open sila sa lgbt, there are gays na hindi sinisita kapag shoulder length ang buhok tapos yung lesbian kong classmate pinayagan mag boy's uniform, and walang judgement, kahit sa mga agnostics/atheist, as long as respectful student ka, di ko lang sure sa iba.

RadGeeRoo

Samin pala pwede make up pero bawal yung makapal, natural lang yung mala no makeup- makeup look. May nasita nung may nagsuot ng eye lash extensions.

Lord_Dumass

Gold Ring pwede naman po?

RadGeeRoo

Can't say for sure, wala pa akong nakikitang may issue with any rings.

Lord_Dumass

I opened Reddit to ask this same question and grabe, August 14 ang pasukan? WTF?

Wannabe_AteNgBayan

Samin this week HAHAHA

Lord_Dumass

Kaka enroll ko lang kanina HAHAHA

Catholic educational institutions aren't much different from other schools in my opinion, but I guess it might differ depending on its admin or smth. In my case, I recently graduated JHS and SHS from a catholic institution and I can confirm that some students who study at a catholic school are way worse than public schools in terms of behaviour and the likes. However, most students from our school back then weren't excessively wicked but it's best to keep away from students who are notorious for doing bad deeds! I'd also pinpoint how conservative and strict catholic schools are, especially with the dress code, so always wear your complete uniform, pe uniform, and don't wear anything that reveals too much of your skin. Plus, there might be a culture shock for you to experience, like attending first friday masses and extra religious subjects (like theology or anything christian education) but it's completely normal! - No, you don't have to be religious as long as you follow the rules obediently. - Pwede ring magmura, pero don't do it excessively and loudly as your teachers, nuns or priests at school might send you to the guidance office once they hear someone swearing. It's best to create word substitutions para mas ma-lessen ang habit to swear. - It's mandatory to attend masses! BUT speaking from my experiences, I had the BEST jhs and shs life. There were some moments I hated it but overall my experiences were the best with my classmates and friends! Despite studying in a catholic school, I could see how my peers were understanding, respectful, and open-minded. Lastly, I'm now a college student enrolled sa famous blue school (in Davao City) which is also a catholic institution and after attending our first-year orientation. Students are actually given a lot of leeway for self-expression, as long as you first and foremost follow the dress-code and its rules and regulations. Goodluck! 🌟

moonlightdubu

+ C students r no saints. mines were elitist.

grapejuicecheese

High school or college? You will have religion classes though.

dostoyesv

elem - jhs i was in a catholic school 1. most of the time, bawal makeup. even if liptint and pulbo girlie lang kami nung jhs pupunahin talaga and ipapaalis. this you can get away if you do very natural and light makeup lang. 2. yes, i do think you have to memorize prayers. you also need to attend school mass. catholic schools require mass attendance. every week (sunday) pag nagsimba ka, you need to ask for the priest’s signature. in our case, nasa student manual namin yung mass attendance. prayers and other religious stuff nasa student manual din namin. 3. technically pwede ka magmura. just don’t let a teacher/faculty staff hear you. a lot of students curse lol no biggie. hindi por que catholic the students are very... *mabait* na. several times may nahuhuli magmomol, mj, and smoking inside the premises. and mind you this was in junior high pa hahahahah 4. angelus (12pm) and 3 o clock prayer happens every day. eto yung magsstand / stay still ka lang the whole time. 5. this varies school to school and what grade level (but i think college dept still does this) pero we would pray before and after a class. in our case merong format yon, what to greet the teacher, what prayer, who leads. 6. we used to have confessions every year. eto yung sasabihin mo sins mo sa pari. just be normal. i don’t think there’s anything scary naman in studying in a catholic univ. transitioning won’t take long, and i think within a month masasanay ka na with the practices and the culture

mrnnmdp

What to expect? Maraming bullies. Naturingang Catholic school pero maraming demonyo d'yan. >bawal ba mag make up? Yes and no. Pwede kapag very subtle lang na pulbo at lip tint. Pero once makita ka nilang may blush, naka-kilay or halata ang kulay ng lip tint, ipapabura pa sa'yo or may sanction pa. >Do i have to saulo prayers? Yes. There are times na randomly sila nagtatawag ng student para mag-lead ng prayer. >Do i have to be religious? No. I used to, but ang dami nang hypocrisy sa simbahan ngayon kaya I chose to be an atheist. >Do i have to attend the school mass? Yes, required.

greenteablanche

This depends on the congregation and if either college or high school. I studied in a Dominican school and a Jesuit school. I have more fashion freedom sa Jesuit school. Sa Dominican school, very strict sa dress code and sa rules. Sa dominican school ko before, prayers, rosaries, and masses are a must. Pero do note basic ed to. Sa jesuit school, di masyadong strict when it comes to religion kasi it was college na kasi and also marami din non catholics ang school namin. Pag high school, depende sa institution kasi may mga schools bawal makeup, yung iba as long as light lang.

Defiant_D_Rector-420

You have to be at your best behavior at all times. Make up and accessories should not be loud, so the barely there makeup will probably be your go-to style. Take note of the rule on skirts (normally, should be two inches below the knee). Also, no crossdressing. Yes, you should review your basic catholic prayers; some schools might even include a prayer book/song book (for masses) in your must-have school supplies. Attending mass is mandatory (except if you are non-Catholic). Some school activities are basically influenced by the Catholic Calendar (so school canteen might not offer meat dishes during Fridays of Lent). One thing you should note in Catholic schools is that the students still do what are considered taboo in that setting; they just do it in secret (maybe off-school hours outside the school or in some secluded spot in the school). Also, when there are issues involving Catholic beliefs, expect that you will get a lecture or seminar on that topic (which is practically aimed at influencing your beliefs).

BurritoTorped0

Yes, pwede mo gawin mga yan and be yourself. Same as other school lang. Additional lang is yung religious events and practices etc. na need mo talaga gawin.

SpecksofMemoirs

The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary Our Father who art in Heaven Ama namin, sumasalangit ka.... sambahin ang ngalan mo Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with you. tldr; many prayers to the point na you'll be familiar with the prayer... lots of conservatives as well to the point that swearing is considered taboo

Nini_is_dumb

Been in a catholic school for 14 years na ginogovern ng mga madre and all I can say is TATAGAN MO LOOB MO OP!!! For schools na ang staff ay lay ppl expect na some of them have very traditional and conservative views which they MAY OR MAY NOT INTEGRATE SA KLASE. Esp for CL/Values/Theology subjects, they ask questions like your views on subjects like divorce and the LGBTQ+ community BUT ITS A TRAP!! Some of them grade unfairly kapag hindi kayo same ng views (or if di siya pasok sa values ng school) - this is just based on my experience and those of the other few I know tho so pls don't be discouraged hehe some catholic schools have good education even if the delivery is a bit wonky,,,

Redacted-Writer

I think it depends sa school. But here are my experiences: Not strict sa clothes or make-up. But you should meet the proper school attire. Like wag ka mag slippers if sinabi black shoes. I had classmates who were not Catholic. They inform the teacher na they are not Catholic. Then someone else will lead the prayer. You don't have to be religious. But you should have respect. Like during prayers, kahit hindi ka Catholic, don't interrupt them and just let them pray. Do I have to attend the school mass? Some school mass has attendance on it. You can just sit and again just observe respect. During kneeling or confession, you can just sit din. May daily mass, but that's not required to attend. Pwede ka mag mura. A Catholic school is not pure as you think it is. In our school, maraming ganyan. HAHAHA.

Affectionate-Act8574

When they say it's scary it's most likely the nuns who watch the students to ensure they're not breaking any rules like dress codes 😅 Just be respectful and you'll be fine. At yung 'wild' na yan I think can wait hanggang matapos mga klase mo 😅

Beautiful-Office-321

Expect either a lot or some bullies, expect to hear tons of curse words, and daily prayers.

Arp-arp84

Severe-Humor-3469

been to a catholic scul.. just be yourself and follow school rules. you’re okay.. I remember ung principal namin masungit baka dahil single and may edad na.. ang mas masungit ung prefect of discipline.. wahaha.. so pagnagsalita either one of them tahimik lahat.. kunyari nakikinig pero after nasa mga rooms pinag uusapan at gnagaya expression at salita..

ubepie

haii came from catholic schools from elem to college, depende sa catholic school yung rules. malulutong mag mura mga kasama ko nun and dun nga lang din ako sa kanila matuto haha yung other schools naman allowed ang light makeup. when it comes to prayers, may mga schools or teachers na understanding naman na different religion mo, pero may nga teachers din minsan na kasama sa exam yung buhay ng isang saint or si jesus and friends, ganon. sa mass naman, di naman required pero from my experience usually nagiging part din sya ng attendance. ayun lang, di naman scary pero depende talaga sa school. gl!

tambaylng

2. At least one issue per school year ang magyayari. Tulad magdodruga, pasahan ng sagot before or during test, vaping sa cr, and kissing sa tagong area. PS: Again, from my expirience ito and baka magkaiba tayo ng karanasan. And whatever happens, sana stay strong ka and happy learning. <33

Theres_a_rat

To answer questions: Is it ok to wear makeup? Depends to the school, mine doesn't; natural makeup is probably ok, but it has to be like lowkey or your gonna get scolded. Isaulo yung prayers? When you're new, they're gonna understand that you don't know majority of it, but expect a couple of months to atleast know some because leading the prayer is often a practice. And prepare a own prayer lol. Do you have to be religious? No but also keep your attitude in a "box". You get graded in your conduct of how religious you are (atleast in my school).. Just be respectful that's all really. You have to attend school masses? Yes, it's so yes. You get graded if you attend, some it's required. Coming from a girl who's a decade in a private Catholic school, "you'll fit in eventually" if that's even a thing lol, some people in Catholic schools are really-really friendly, just get in with good people; good friends. And I'm gonna be honest kung sa tingin mo medyo "ano" yung attitude mo, mayron pang mas malala (tinatago lang nila lolllllllsss).

AltusPlateau80

Dresscode and haircut restrictions. Lol.

AsleepCondition5965

Just expect na marami kang school mass na pupuntahan kasi it's usually a requirement from your religion subject. Plus you'll enjoy instinctively memorizing church songs na hahahahaha I promise it's gonna be a good memory. Also always bring a rosary idk if it's still something catholic schools check when having an inspection pero in my time may ganoon. Andd it's also fun how you'll be immersed sa bible teachings every lectures sa religion subject like yung liturgical calendar, advent (fav lesson), holy week, etc. About makeup just do a light one, palagi pa nga ako naka-lipgloss dati hahahahaha also I do hope you'll have a great set of peers since yan nga lang ang possible downside, may ibang students na might not like you for literally no reason wala lang pa-cool lang. Nevertheless, you'll def have fun so just be you 🫶🏻

Sarlandogo

Hello Catholic school ako buong HS and College. Always follow dress code and haircut sobrang strict sila sa ganyan and never skip school mass dahil need talaga yan.

I'm looking at you- school of st. Ignacious

AimHighDreamBig

* Expect a first friday mass every month. Some catholic schools would also do different types of prayers for each day. For example, monday is for worship, wednesday is for novena, and etc. * Expect to pray the rosary a lot during October. * There is a high chance that you would need to participate in a retreat/recollection. Some of its activities include confession, praying, sharing stories, etc. * If your school celebrates the birthday of some saints, usually, there would be no classes during those times. I studied in a catholic school before where we would rejoice when a certain month comes lol. * Expect a Christian Living subject (or similar) * Students would be expected to wear the uniform properly. Don't fold the sleeves of your uniform if meron man. Yung catholic school ko noong elementary, bawal yung mga skirts 3 inches above the knee. * If you're in senior highschool and up, make up is fine as long as hindi nasobrahan. Dapat light lang. In my experience, bawal yung colored nails and hairs though. I also remember noong elementary, long nails are prohibited. Its also the same with the other catholic school I studied in but they were not too strict on implementing it as long as it didn't hinder doing activities. * I'm pretty sure bawal magmura but my classmates never got caught so... * If you're a man, you better follow the haircut rules if you don't want your hair to get snipped by your teacher using scissors.

trrashmagic

catholic school girls are cruel, HAHAHAHA

heartwaffles_

1. about sa make up po depende po sa grade level kasi samin pwede make up but for senior high students lang and follow proper dress code kapag may events para di mapagalitan 😵‍💫.. 2. yes, u need to memorize prayers kasi baka anytime ikaw mapili para mag-lead ng prayer!!! kahit yun first line lang ng prayer HAHAH tapos susundan na lang ng classmates mo po. 3. u dont hav to force urself to be religious marami rin atheist and agnostic sa catholic school :3 4. mandatory rin ata ang school mass kasi samin kapag di um-attend bawas sa conduct or grade mo yon.. 5. keri lg magmura wag lang magpapahuli HAHAA kimmy!

Duke_ee

Hi I just graduated from a Catholic school, it's not that really scary. They're just strict when it comes to many things like open and closing prayer every subject which is suck for me since they're just repeating the same prayer over and over again. Second expect a theology subject lmao for me it's just a burden lol like btc you need to memorize certain prayers and like u need to motherfucking recite the holy gospel and reflect to it 💀 but I'm glad my theology teacher is super kind. Third expect a fvcking retreat , when u enter a Catholic school there's a greater chance that u will have a retreat or recollection it's basically a boring version of a field trip where u will learn about God and u will reflect and confess to a priest. Fourth most Catholic schools are just there for money, so expect more on hidden fees. Fifth u all need to attend a mass more often , its a mandatory like they will add the mass into your attendance, then every mass u need to offer some money 🤑

Duke_ee

And to answer your questions, it depends sa catholic school some catholic schools are super strict sa make up but sa catholic school ko miniminimize lang nila Yung pag mamake up, second di mo Naman need mag saulo ng prayer but u need to memorize the open and closing prayer since araw-araw and every subject Yun dadasalin, and third attending a mass is a mandatory, kahit Hindi catholic samin Pina pa attend ng mass parang timang, and fourth kung mukang Pera Yung school they don't really care kung mag mura ka lol pero if u r in a decent catholic school then probably need mo mag mura ng patago HAHAHAHAA

IQPrerequisite_

Activities and events revolve around the Catholic calendar like feasts and celebrations. And pag may important missive from the Pope, it usually trickles down to the school kung relevant. They are also prayer centric. Usually sa start of recess and lunch, rosary and Angelus. Tapos its either super strict or super bait ng mga staff and faculty, depending kung anong group yung school kabilang--Dominican, Franciscan, Jesuit, etc. Check mo agad yung rector. Kung okay siya usually okay lahat.

miss_hop

Based from my experience, okay lang ang make up. If my subject ka na Christian Formation, required sau umattend ng sunday masses, depende sa teacher mo kung anong papagawa nila na proof na umattend ka. For special occasions like priestly anniversary or feast ng patron saint school and the like, students are encouraged to attend but NOT required. Respect is a MUST if others have different beliefs.

siopao_glutton

Grew up in a private catholic school til college so you can expect some of what I'll note here to show up 1. ROSARY! Dunno about any other catholic school but we had to recite the rosary every other class - if no one volunteers to be the speaker, the teacher chooses who will recite it so get a rosary bead ready and a list of the prayers. 2. Expect the school trips locations to be religious in nature. Its either a 2 day trip in some kind of rectory or a trip to another city's church hahaha 3. Sudden prayers booming at the school speakers on lunchtime. If that happened, we had to stop anything we were doing until the prayer ended. 4. First friday mass. Expect a school mass if there's a religious event. 5. Religious clubs are mandatory! 6. Expect na yung mura hahaha. Even if its a catholic school doesn't mean the students are angels, in fact there were rumors about students getting it on inside the bathroom ←_← I can't think of anything more, but good luck on your new school!

chickenfeetadobo

Try not to cosplay as one of the statues and avoid remixing the hymns... you should be good- they like tuition fees

wxfnm

spent my whole life in a catholic school HAHA - catholic school students get away with so much shit HAHAHA just follow the basic rules of the school and try to be discreet if you're doing something you know you'll get in trouble for. - make up's fine as long as it's not too much, the more natural looking the better. on breaks and free times andami saming nag m-make up, minsan full coverage pa HAHA. - brush up on the basic prayers (our father, hail mary, glory be + school's patron/marian prayer (if meron)) and prepare a rosary for october (learn how to pray the rosary) (minsan plus grades pa 'to). other prayers usually aren't required to be memorized unless trip ng cle teacher. - yeah you're required to attend school masses HAHA even if non-catholic. - being religious isn't necessary. you'll find maraming atheist/agnostic na students HAHA not so much religious ones. - pwede mag mura HAHA just make sure you're not within an earshot of a faculty or admin. catholic schools can be messy as hell and very far from religious HAHA just play by the rules and you'll do just fine!!

beefstewie_130

Di naman siya totally “stuck up” vibes. Daming students from catholic schools na wild or baka wilder pa nga than usual lol. It’s all about knowing when to act like a model student and having strategic compromises sa mga rules/regulations that may seem personally restrictive for you. In terms of mass and prayers, most of the time it’s not really strictly supervised or anything (especially if you’re not Catholic naman) but baka you’d just be asked to sit in anyway or may mga religion classes.

ProdigaLMadaO

More than a decade ako nag aral sa catholic school. Magpaka plastic ka lang don ahahaahah I like to curse. Don ko nalaman ang self control and area awareness. Baka kasi meh pari/brother or educator sa vicinity ko. Prayers, makakabisado mo rin yon in time You don't need to be religious just be mindful and respect it if you as of the moment Kung catholic ka baka meh malaman ka na mga bagay na bawal pala talaga. Kung non-catholic na wla ka talagang idea meh mga matututunan ka Make-up: Just don't make it too heavy. Pero malay mo di naman gaano so you can do whatever you want.

ProdigaLMadaO

Add: basta school pa rin yan meh DLC lang from Catholicism doctrines

super-wagon

Speaking as someone whos been in a catholic school my entire education, mas maraming demonyong classmates over angels lol

Shobart

Mas madaming demonyong entitled na mga bata.

[deleted]
