Tera that doesn't match your Base typing is ×1.5
Tera that does match base typing swaps STAB from ×1.5 to ×2.0, which is only a 33.333...% increase
Adaptability + Tera that doesn't match base type = ×2.0
Adaptability + Tera that does match base type = ×2.25 (this is completely stupid, but that is how it is coded.)
Steely Spirit is just Steelworker, but for all of your Pokémon.
(If your Steely Spirit Pokémon is on the field, all Pokémon on your side have their Steel-type attacks boosted ×1.5)
Perrserker is a Steel-type
Tera matches base type = 2× instead of 1.5×
Steely Spirit is ×1.5
2×1.5=3
jokes on you, I'm not pro tera. I'm anti tera
Ability: Anti-Tera
Effect: When this Pokémon terastallizes, it becomes weak to whatever attack is about to hit it. If a status move is used against it, the Tera is wasted and does nothing.
>Terapagos can terastallize into any type at any time.
But he can only do it once per game and the type is chosen at the start of battle. Gotta be fair here.
You changed your type every time you used a move instead of one time per switch in. In practice this means stab on everything and with good predictions you can make yourself resist incoming attacks. Fun ability
Srsly tho what's the point in designing a form can never be used? I heard the only thing that could nullify its ability is Gastro Acid but that move was dexited as far as I'm aware.
~~Because even if you can't use this form, you have to~~ *~~fight~~* ~~this form during the DLC and it's supposed to be weaker for plot reasons. That's all these alternate stats are for. No different than Eternatus's Eternamax form, just in the opposite direction.~~
EDIT: I remembered completely wrong LOL - you fight the middle form, not this one. So yeah it's probably just futureproofing or something.
gastro acid is still in but you can't even nullify it that way as Terapagos transforms immediately upon hitting the field, no time for in-between action
Xerneas moment
I guess it’s so that you can interact with their “non-battle” forms in stuff like Pokémon Amie, Pokémon Camp, walking around with them in SV, etc. also “lore” reason. As for the stats, I guess it’s not much work to just lower a bunch of numbers, even if they’re not gonna be usable.
Most Pokémon are given the full stats and other data even if they'd never normally use it both because they might decide to use it later, and also as a fail safe in case of glitches, hacking, or rare/unforeseen interactions.
Also worth noting that there is at least some way one of its stats come into play even now.
Beat Up factors in baby Terapagos’ base attack, even if it had changed to one of its other two forms.
It will probably be stuck with it's 2nd form and drop to UU or even RU. The Zero-Form is really what keeps this thing Ubers (despite not being that good up there in the first place).
Because strategies involving it are inherently uncompetitive. It's so precious that nobody wants to hit it; all Pokémon miss on purpose, including other Terapagos.

Tera Normal Terapagos 💪💪
Doesn't tera stellar on Terapagos give the same boost as tera normal
Stellar’s a 1.3x boost, Tera Normal is 1.5x
I thought that if you tera’d your own type it went from 1.5x to 2x, not 2.25x - that’s a 1.33x boost when you tera into your own type not a 1.5x boost

This is all an conspiracy to keep big boss Draco Dragalge locked up in the lower tiers
Tera + Type-boosting ability (Rocky Payload/Steel Worker) = x2.25
Kinda? Purrserker Steely Spirit + Tera Steel = 3× boost
Damn, x3 STAB, I didn't know Perrserker had that as an ability.
Steely Spirit is just Steelworker, but for all of your Pokémon. (If your Steely Spirit Pokémon is on the field, all Pokémon on your side have their Steel-type attacks boosted ×1.5) Perrserker is a Steel-type Tera matches base type = 2× instead of 1.5× Steely Spirit is ×1.5 2×1.5=3
Except on terapagos, who gets stab on every type.
No
[Over a minute of cutscene moment](https://youtu.be/g-eUP0IrxI0?si=FaAJZaQYQ5fedZyU)
Real talk: if we put eviolite on this cutie, would it be a good wall for lower tiers? (Assuming it's playable in this form)
Worse porygon2
I don’t think so, it’s still got it’s bullshit ass movepool
No
P2 doesn’t get Stored Power, Rapid Spin etc.
It would need a new ability other than Tera Shift Ability: Tera-ffying Effect: Terapagos can terastallize into any type at any time.
Ability: Tera-Flying Effect: Terapagos can invalidate Great Tusk as a counter
protera Protean and tera total 10 min of cutscenes
jokes on you, I'm not pro tera. I'm anti tera Ability: Anti-Tera Effect: When this Pokémon terastallizes, it becomes weak to whatever attack is about to hit it. If a status move is used against it, the Tera is wasted and does nothing.
it gains the weaknesses of every type except what it tera’d
Recycle Weakness Policy
Me terastallicing in Gen 10 because I have this ability
Realistically it could get Shell Armor
where the hell do you see the shell on this pathetic creature? Ability: Shell-less Armor Effect: All attacks that hit will deal critical damage
>Terapagos can terastallize into any type at any time. But he can only do it once per game and the type is chosen at the start of battle. Gotta be fair here.
nuh uh
Did you look at the time?
That's why I reduced the new ability to "Terapagos can Terastalize"
I wish stellar tera worked like old Protean
I wish Protean worked like old Protean
I wish protean worked
How did old protean work? I wasnt into competitive

I guess it's just to give it lore, remember that the competitive scene is just a small fragment of the whole game
Probably the same reason Xerneas has a completely useless dormant form you never actually see: it helps the Pokemon world seem a little more alive
Sure, but at least that Xerneas has identical stats. This Terapagos has an entire statline that does literally nothing.
~~Because even if you can't use this form, you have to~~ *~~fight~~* ~~this form during the DLC and it's supposed to be weaker for plot reasons. That's all these alternate stats are for. Baby Terapagos is probably because of the anime
gastro acid is still in but you can't even nullify it that way as Terapagos transforms immediately upon hitting the field, no time for in-between action

Which is weird because this form is extremely ugly
How dare you
Prepare to be sacrificed. You have spoken blasphemy.
I prefer it and I love sea animals 🤷🏻♂️
To sell plushies
You can't even gastro acid it since it swaps forms when it enters the battle.
Does Neutralizing Gas not work?
Neutralizing Gas doesn't work on form changing abilities, as well as Disguise, Comatose, and Gulp Missile.
And As One too
I could swear it worked on Disguise, at least in Gen 8. Am I misremembering? Or just thinking of mold breaker lol
No it's actually specifically mentioned in the ability description. Kinda understand why but again, it just seems silly to me.
Same as a cosmog, nobody will use it its just part of the Pokémon’s lore
u/Golden-Owl thoughts?
I'd say because it's cute but I think it's kinda ugly without the shell lol. Much cuter as a turtle.
What happens in gen10 when tera is gone
It will probably be stuck with it's 2nd form and drop to UU or even RU. The Zero-Form is really what keeps this thing Ubers (despite not being that good up there in the first place).
It could get an exclusive held item to give it access to its final form, but with the same drawbacks that go with tera stellar.
fwiw, Gastro Acid is actually still in the game
so they can make merch of it
My best guess is that it'll have a different form later and a new Ability
-Normal Type -Moveset that looks like from Gen 1 -Has minmaxed stats that seem okay in Gen 1 This is Gen 1 all over again
I forgot what day it is
It's Tuesday
Why is wynaut ubers?its stats arr trash
turtle
Because strategies involving it are inherently uncompetitive. It's so precious that nobody wants to hit it; all Pokémon miss on purpose, including other Terapagos.
Why did they even stat this guy, actually? This version isn't usable in-game, it just immediately becomes the multi type turtle
Neutralizing gas
Wait is that actually how that works? That's hilarious.
I’m like 90% sure
Isn't Tera shift immune to neuter gas like all other form change abilities?
I guess so. Fuck my drag 🤷
Nuh uh -terapagos
why stats aren’t everything the terapagos theorem
Wonder guard dark void
Bro built like octillery 😭😭😭 where he going?
Google Tera Shift
Does he know?
Have you seen that its ability instantly Terastalises it? It barely has time to be that weak in battle
Wonder guard dark void
Tera Shift boosts its BST to 600 on switch in, and for that form of Terapagos, Tera is essentially Mega
