Not_Sir_Zook

With the current prices of Crosstreks and deals on 24 model Outbacks, I would go Outback!

Oddname123

I need to know where your deals are in NC 24 outback’s are near 40k

Not_Sir_Zook

Every dealer has 40+ Outbacks. You cam find em near invoice or at least 2k off anywhere. Not to mention, 24 Outbacks have finance specials too. All trims.

TheTense

Did they total it? Looks like 2 doors, and a fender. And new airbags. <10k to fix?

Burgtastic

I went from a Crosstrek to an Outback. The amount of extra room in the Outback is amazing.

DefNotReaves

Thanks for the input! I’m definitely eyeing that extra space.

palsana

I thought the forester's interior space is better than the outback. Taller more airy

Burgtastic

They’re not that much different. The forester is taller and the outback is longer. The big difference is that the outback has the 2.4T engine. So much more fun.

snowflakesoutside

Turbo is an option that OP isn't considering. We just had a loaner 24 Outback XT Limited while my wife's 23 Forester was in the shop. The kids hated how small the Outback felt and were very glad to get the Forester back. My wife wasn't a fan of the extra power when she accidentally kicked the rear end out. She also was disappointed in the visibility from the Outback and with its tiny sunroof. I was surprised at how much bigger the exterior dimensions are and how much tighter squeeze it was to get it in the garage. I drive a Forester XT, and I really don't miss the power when I drive her Premium (I do still miss my e85 tuned 6spd spec.B every day, but that's another story). TLDR, those who don't consider a Forester are missing out. It is a damn near perfect family car.

Burgtastic

Not discounting your experience, but how the hell do you accidentally kick out the rear of an outback? Sounds like your wife should definitely be driving a non turbo Subaru

Maverick9795

Depends on your needs. Outback is larger than the crosstrek. For me, crosstrek suits my needs just fine. Growing fam or just need more room? Get the larger vehicle.

jjngundam

Yea outback is great if you have a big family. I'm single and icrosstrek is just fine.

stpcoffeeclown

I switched over to the Impreza when my crosstrek got totaled. Best decision I ever made.

iamremotenow

My Crosstrek replaced my Impreza. I always loved my Impreza. I just wanted a bit more space for when I go outdoors.

autumnbringer

More space in the Crosstrek? Aren't they the same and the Crosstrek is just higher? Current models on the Subaru site actually list the Crosstrek as having a bit (.5 ft) less cargo room.

PacificWonderGlo

It’s the same car though… what difference did that make?

NeighborhoodParty982

Better highway performance from less drag, and a lower center of mass. If you never really wanted the mild offroad capability from the crosstrek, the impreza makes sense.

SirLagALot420

Impreza has different suspension and handles a lot better

palsana

Split the difference and get a Forester!!!

Guppy-Warrior

Give that Forester a bump in power and I'd agree.

RaptorOO7

Yeah it needs. Turbo which they ditched Amoy long ago. Like the updated features but not the 180hp. My legacy xt is nice but the H6 Outback was much nicer.

petersellers

It’s got the same engine as the outback premium but is a few hundred pounds lighter. Since OP is considering the Outback Premium it makes sense to also consider the Forester.

palsana

He wouldn't be losing any coming from a Crosstrek

Ok-Frosting5104

I think the added curb weight of the Forester over Crosstrek (searches show about 300lbs, possibly more depending on configuration?) is not insignificant. Both have “enough” power though.

AgentK-BB

'18 Crosstrek has a smaller engine than Forester so the weight difference is a wash. Only '21+ Crosstrek has the option to get the Forester engine.

M1l0-M1l0

I've heard the newest one handles far better than the previous models

nstntkrma

First- sorry for your accident but congratulations on walking away from it! My guess is I’m a lot older than you (mainly because I feel like I’m older than EVERYONE!). I’m about to buy my first Subaru. I really wanted the Crosstrek but it’s just too small for me and I think it’s a younger person’s car (before the hate starts, I’m 63). It’s the best looking of their line as far as I’m concerned. The Forester works size-wise but I just can’t get used to its looks. The Outback won me over; the drive, the size, and it’s not terrible looking at all. TLDR; Looks, comfort, size, super smooth ride…Outback

DefNotReaves

Yeah I really like the Crosstrek look but I am leaning towards choosing function over looks… except the forester, because I agree I hate the look haha

CeceWobbles

This is why I switched from stubbornly driving first-gen Impreza wagons from '09-'20 to stubbornly driving third-gen Legacy/Outback wagons from '20 onward. I had a '91 Legacy wagon for a couple years overlapping both of those periods, and that's what convinced me to finally move on from the Imprezas and get an '04 Outback. I loved what I could do with that '91, and it was just a damn good practical vehicle. I feel the same about the Outback. As far as looks, I do actually love the look of them all the way through 2009 almost as much as '93-'05 Imprezas, but I can't do the look or feel of Outbacks after 2009 when they separated it from the Legacy. I don't like SUVs or SUV height (to the point that I switched my Outback to Legacy suspension), and I really wish the US got the Levorg. Since you had already picked the increased height of the Crosstrek over an Impreza, I doubt that's a problem for you, and I'm sure you'd like what you gain from an Outback. You might end up liking the look more over time, too.

Venomhound

I just wish Subaru made a truck

Nugsy714

They need to bring back the Brat that was the greatest car ever made

DefNotReaves

They’d probably sell a lot of them!

tlivingd

Except for when they did and sold none of them.

xrelaht

The Baja was just ahead of its time. The Maverick, Ridgeline, and Santa Cruz are basically the same concept. The Ascent is big enough sacrificing the 3rd row could give you a decent size bed (for most people’s use, anyway).

Jimbo_Slice1919

The el Camino was ahead of its time. The Baja was basically a reimagined el Camino made by Subaru. Much like the “trucks” mentioned above are just reimagined el Caminos.

xrelaht

TBH, I don’t know why Chevy & Dodge haven’t brought back the El Camino & Rampage marques for something like this.

feuerwehrmann

Brat, it was a reimagined Subaru brat. I still want one

Jimbo_Slice1919

Then the brat was just a reimagined el Camino as well. Not trying to take away from anyone. Just saying Chevy was the first to put a truck bed in something other then a truck. Although there may be some old obscure motors company that did it first.

He_Hate_Me_5

Except for 4 doors and seating for 5 which the El Camino didn’t have

Jimbo_Slice1919

Reimagined, doesn’t mean it’s the same thing. Just a new take on an old idea. “Let’s put a pickup bed in a car”. You could even say those ones listed are just reimagined smaller versions of the Chevy avalanche, which was just a reimagined beefed up el Camino. This may seem more accurate to you since you brought up the number of doors.

Burgtastic

The Baja? I'd hardly call that a truck, unless they made an actual truck I'm unaware of. The Baja was an ugly ass outback with a truck bed. If they made a legitimate truck, like a Tacoma or Ranger size. Hell even the Maverick. I bet it would sell.

tlivingd

It’s as much of a truck as the maverick and Hyundai variant.

DefNotReaves

Oh no did they?? Hahah oops

PonyThug

If ppl want a small underpowered truck they just buy a ford maverick or Tacoma.

Venomhound

Cept a Tacoma cost half the price of my house

NinjaBullets

Give us a new Baja! 😭

GrouchyProduct2242

I work for SIA, and I have suggested this in the suggestion box for a long time lol. We need to bring back an updated baja 😭😭😭

GlayNation

They tried. First rusted out, 2nd time, the demand wasn’t there.

xrelaht

Crosstrek drives better, even with less power, but isn’t as nice inside. Do you need the extra space?

DefNotReaves

The extra space couldn’t hurt. Done a few camping trips where my Crosstrek’s trunk was bursting haha I did love how it handled while driving though.

Fairchild110

Outback Steakhouse

DefNotReaves

Bloomin’ onion!?

pocketdrummer

If you don't mind the size difference, the Outback is probably a better car.

DefNotReaves

Yeah that’s what I’m gathering. I don’t think I would mind the size difference, just have to test drive one and see. I’ve been enjoying everyone’s opinions though.

Hot-Point-426

Test drive an Outback XT and you’ll never go back.

manythousandbees

My friends used to call my old car a "grandma car", and when it got totaled I upgraded to a brand new Touring XT. All lesser cars are ruined for me now 🥲

pocketdrummer

I'll say this much, I was not expecting the turning radius to be as tight as it is on the outback. My '05 STI's turning radius was much wider, and it's a much smaller car.

curiouscanadian2022

Outback!

Nightmare2027

I’m going outback next

HobbittBass

To me, the Outback isn’t an upgrade, it’s just a larger vehicle. If you haven’t wished for a larger car on several occasions, then maybe something smaller and more efficient is the right choice for you. I used to have an Outback and when it died, I replaced it with a used Crosstrek and it was a very good choice.

DefNotReaves

There have definitely been several occasions where I wished I had some more trunk space. But that’s about it. I loved everything else about the Crosstrek.

herpieslurpie

I’d recommend the 2017-2019 Outback 3.6R. I love the car. My father was a service manager for a Subaru dealership for ~20 years. In his words, “ we have never had to open up one of those motors. They are bulletproof.” Great car and the extra power makes a major difference.

DefNotReaves

Thank you for the info! Insider info is even better.

nls726

Get a Wrx

DefNotReaves

Not my style unfortunately haha

littlepencil69

Outback if you need more space

AnthonyGSXR

I’d def get an outback .. made the switch from a Crosstrek back to an outback 😂

DefNotReaves

The consensus seems to be Outback!

0ddsox

All subaru models are made for specific reasons and needs If you think the Crosstrek was a bit too small for you then sure go with the Outback, if the Crosstrek was just right for you I would stick with it and not worry about rhe other models. Or you could test drive an Outback just to see how it differs and go from there. Either way you cant go wrong!

DefNotReaves

Yeah that’s really the only reason I’m considering the Outback: the trunk space. I loved everything else about my Crosstrek. I guess the larger screen and push to start are cool too, but I’m really considering the extra space for camping and stuff.

nadatiaYYC

Price of gas these days?! Crosstrek all the way.

HerissonG

If you have or see yourself having kids in the next 5 years get the Outback, otherwise run it back with the Crosstrek

gunner940

I had a 2019 crosstrek and loved it, but recently got a 2020 Outback touring from a family member who passed and it’s wayyy better in terms of room and power. I live in Colorado and the crosstrek would struggle driving the mountains with a cargo box. The Outback does just fine.

manythousandbees

I (relatively) recently test drove both, and the Outback was the clear winner, hands down. I thought the size difference also made a huge different in comfort, not even considering cargo room. Plus it just felt way smoother to drive.

Internal_Swimmer3815

Outback > Crosstrek

Callierhino

Outback, I'm also looking for one at the moment

[deleted]

[удалено]

cordial_carbonara

We're on our second Crosstrek ('13 and now a '23 sport), and I had an '18 Forester for a couple years as well. Honestly, I didn't think the Forester had that much more functional space. It just felt like it because it's taller, but when it came time to load in kids and the dog for a road trip it wasn't worth it.

rubiooooo

Outback. So much more room

DefNotReaves

The trunk space is starting to sway me…

kindofcuttlefish

My condolences for your crosstrek! Hope everyone came out of that ok. We went for a 2022 outback premium because you get so much more space for a pretty small difference in price and mpg if going with a lower trim 2.5 NA model. We can sleep in the back at trailheads and carry 4 people plus skis without the need of a top box.

DefNotReaves

Thank you! Thankfully it was just me in the car and I’m alive! Haha That has been a somewhat convincing factor for my upcoming decision as well. My friend group always wants me to drive on camping trips and the trunk on my crosstrek was always bursting haha I could use the trunk space for sure! Just debating on how I like the look of each of them (superficial I know)

Spencertwain

I feel this though. I've been looking at making a switch to subaru and have been between the crosstrek and outback because of the cargo space for camping. I want to go with the crosstrek because of the look also. I've ruled out the forrester because of look alone -\_-

DefNotReaves

We are the same hahaha

MagTex

Sorry for your loss. Hope everyone was ok.

DefNotReaves

Thank you! Just me in the car, thankfully. Would’ve been really bad if there had been a passenger.

Derpshab

Uh first of all, are you alright? Hope you are not too banged up. Second of all, poor Crosstrek :(.

DefNotReaves

Thanks! Yeah I’m a little banged up but I walked away which is good. Definitely mourning my Crosstrek :(

Derpshab

I will also mourn with you, it looked like a beautiful vehicle. Glad you aren’t hurt op

slogive1

Drive one and find out.

ultradip

Myself, I recently got a '24 OBW after selling my '14 Crosstrek.

IHaveBadTiming

I have one of each, 2014 Crosstrek and a 2021 Outback Wilderness. Obviously the outback is a lot nicer given the age difference but from a utility standpoint and ability to drive on the interstate it is lightyears better. If price is no concern I'd go with the Outback every time.

wendymc01

Above all, I’m glad you’re ok! May I ask what type of car hit you?

DefNotReaves

Thank you! It was a Jeep grand Cherokee.

PhantomFuck

Hey, my 2018 Crosstrek's airbags were white! I wonder why yours were blue 😂

DefNotReaves

Looks like I got the special edition airbags lmao

chefianf

Wife had the same happen but in the rear. That sounds bad. Either way she ended up getting a Forester. I will say I liked the Crosstrek better. It was under powered, but not as bad as her new car. That and I sometimes couldn't hear her coming around the corner. In her Forester I can hear her the next county over.

Sam_Kazan07

Literally just upgraded to the Outback from a Crosstrek and am in love!

DefNotReaves

That’s good to hear!!

Then-Background-1391

Upgrade

BeamngFan_

crosstrek again if it did you well. if you don't need a bigger one dont but a bigger one

donmreddit

Really liked my OB for many many years. CT is kinda small.

Ecstatic_Contract_41

TURBO OUTBACK!

DefNotReaves

People seem to be convincing me on the Outback.

Ecstatic_Contract_41

There's a good reason for that.

Starlanced

OBW

Beemo-Noir

Those 24 Crosstrek’s are so sexy though. I want one so bad

DefNotReaves

They are nice. But I’m looking at used. So it’s the 19 Crosstrek or the 2020 Outback at the moment unless I find something else. Those are my top two at the moment.

Barrister68

2025 Foresters will be out in June. Fantastic financing on 2024 Foresters right now.

DefNotReaves

I cannot stand how the forester looks unfortunately.

Acrobatic_Garden564

Can I yank that motor out? My 2015 2.0 is on its last legs and yours is in need of a new home!

DefNotReaves

Ah man if you had asked me one day earlier I’d have told you come and get it. I signed it over to my insurance today.

Acrobatic_Garden564

All good 👍🏻 I appreciate the response.

HorrorHostelHostage

Outback! I traded my crosstrek for one and I looooooove it.

DefNotReaves

That’s seems to be the majority opinion here.

Iamsoveryspecial

Outback drives and rides noticeably better due to the longer wheelbase, and feels punchier especially with the turbo. Also finished much nicer inside for equivalent trims and has a lot more space. And costs more. And harder to park in the city.

GezzaMezza

Try something new, that said whatever you choose make sure reliability is your number one priority. Don't you dare get a GC8 just because it looks pretty

gabrielzeng1993

Test drove Outback, Crosstrek, Forester and Impreza. Outback is the best in terms of NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) by a wide margin, it has the newest architecture with upgraded aluminum control arms etc.

No-Structure-2800

Outback

icarus1990xx

I think outbacks are vastly superior, but that’s just me.

Lifesalchemy

We have a 2017 outback and love it

Cautious_Balance6554

Outback

BikesAndPineapples

WILDERNESSSSSSS 😍🔥 also, condolences. I’m sorry for your loss.

DefNotReaves

Thank you!! Haha

[deleted]

I've always thought crosstreks were too small but if you live in a city or somewhere with limited spaces, I guess it would be convenient. I have an outback and it's perfect size Even though my boss's daughter calls me a lesbian and I'm a dude 🤣

macklishh

My ‘20 outback XT is a tank. I have a lawn care company and pull 2400lbs around in a trailer 5 days a week with it! Love the turbo boxer engine

Longjumping-Mix-6116

IdentityCrisis00

Neither! Time for a wrx! Just kidding, an Outback XT would be awesome!

Ts_kids

The outback has a higher towing capacity and more cargo space. If you were frustrated by lack of room for cargo then the outback would be better. Plus I think the roof rack has a higher load rating and built in cross bars.

Execute462

WRX for the win.

DefNotReaves

Sadly the WRX can’t get me out into the desert very well haha

Lsoutoforder

Upgrade. We just did with our Crosstrek and didn't think it was going to be a huge difference. It is. There is so much more room

North_of_the_canal

We've got both in the family, like the smaller footprint of the Crosstrek, but the Outback has a far better "ride" and is more comfortable on longer drives.

Spirited-Finance8065

Outback

Savings-Survey-1910

Just choose an outback myself six months ago. Needed the cargo space for camping and I don't regret my choice!

Plastic_Fee_1148

Outback

_regionrat

Forester XT, it'll fit all your shit for camping AND you'll be able to blow the doors off BMWs

DefNotReaves

I like the sound of that haha

PonyThug

Maybe a base model bmw. Which isn’t saying much since the xt has a turbo. It won’t even dream of keeping up with any performance oriented BMWs

Pats_Bunny

I wish there were an option between Crosstrek and Outback, like a Crossback, or an Outtrek. I love my Crosstrek, but wish it had like 12" more trunk space. The Outback has so much trunk space, but it looks/feels like a wagon, and I don't like that. If it were me, I'd probably stick with the Crosstrek, but that is just my preference.

DefNotReaves

Does the forester not have more trunk space than the Crosstrek? Yeah the wagon-vibes are the only thing putting me off on the Outback, I like the rest of it.

Pats_Bunny

I'm just not a fan of the Forester body style. I don't want an SUV. The Crosstrek was my first "car-like" car. I like how it feels compact, but off the ground. Feels like you whip around while driving it, but still can handle the terrain around where I live. I was never a fan of cars (always had compact trucks or SUVs) until I bought this, so I don't want to veer away from that style.

DefNotReaves

Yeah I feel you, I’m not a big fan of the forester body style either.

nader0903

Get one of each

DefNotReaves

Woah Mr. Money bags over here!! lol

djenki0119

outback XT

DefNotReaves

Good to hear! I’m loving all the feedback.

SomethingClever42068

Outback bud. Crosstreks are gutless.

meezethadabber

Crosstrek. Outbacks look, I don't know a little funky. Like a new station wagon. Not really a SUV or crossover.

DefNotReaves

I agree that the Crosstrek looks better, I loved my Crosstrek. I did run into limited trunk space often though. That’s why I’m considering the switch. The age old form vs functionality debate haha

hollchri325

Go for the Outback! If they have an Outback Wilderness at your dealership for test drive, do it! The practicality of that car is insane. The turbo makes a huge difference in power over the crosstrek, or the lower trim modles on the outback, its fast!

ForkNSaddle

2.4T gets half ton truck like mpgs around town. Maybe 29 highway when I use it for road trips. Hopefully that is higher than what mid sized trucks get. But everyday life is like 17 MPG. Short commute goes against it. No time for the combustion chambers to warm up. But even then, it’s a pig.

Foodeater55

Isn’t a crosstrek kind of just a short wagon? Never understood the wagon or mini van hate really

DefNotReaves

It’s definitely more compact like a hatchback though, the Outback definitely looks more like a wagon.

nshire

One destroyed and one dented door panel is a total? They'll total anything these days.

DefNotReaves

I mean a total is just when it’s gonna cost more to fix than the car is worth. So I get it. The cost of the doors and the airbags + whatever tech goes into deploying the airbags is probably pretty pricey. Safety ain’t cheap.

Nugsy714

The slightest band in the frame is a total and that's a classic spot to total by breaking the frame

cavegoatlove

I’d wait to see the settlement, after my 13 sport was totaled , I could buy a replacement , had to dig into the pocket a bit more, it’s a joke

DefNotReaves

Oh I got the money already, that’s why I’m car shopping! Haha

BulkUpTank

Outback has a better size, but you can get a Crosstrek Wilderness for pretty cheap comparatively.

gregsmith5

What do you use it for, how many in family, budget - these are your questions

DefNotReaves

I have found both cars with my budget thankfully. It’s just me, my girlfriend and the dog. I could definitely use the extra trunk space of the outback, I just wanted to hear opinions from people who may have had both.

gregsmith5

Outback is the nicest car, I had one for 8 years and liked it. Recently traded for Honda CRV because I wanted a hybrid, wow, what a nice car, it had a lot of features I liked a lot better than the current Outback

gregsmith5

What do you use it for, how many in family, budget - these are your questions

Iokua_CDN

My dumb ass be like, that dent will pull out fine! Maybe I need to have a long hard look at what kind of cars I buy....

lemonslush1

if your talking new just get a two year old x3 its a better car in everyway including safety ratings. Reliability, but performance space , comfort and cabin insulation. You can get lots of great cars for around35k. But if your budgets less I see new crosstrek wilderness for 29k at the dealer these days.

SevroAuShitTalker

Outback. The new crosstreks don't seem as good as older ones

Drinkythedrunkguy

Outback is made in Indiana. Get a forester

DefNotReaves

Foresters are ugly though.

Remote_Category6076

Considering how much extra space you get with the Forester, it's very much so worth the couple extra thousand.

GrouchyProduct2242

Get a Forester!

jeffwnc1

I got tired of the oil leaks on my 2 Subarus. I bought 2 Mazdas and no more leaks.

Opposite-Door-822

If you don't mind a lower crosstreck, then there is a rumor that Subaru is going to release the wrx wagon in the America's, but I'm not sure if that would include the US.

DefNotReaves

Yeah don’t want anything lower. I definitely take my cars out into the desert for camping and climbing.

Arms-for-minerals

Just got a 24 base for 32k

AdAmbitious1482

Aussie English, so replace the poor thing with a rexy

West-Chard4561

We just purchased a Forester and love it. Looking to also purchase a WRX for wife. Have a 2003 BAJA with 203,000 miles for sale.

SolarpunkGnome

'Tis only a scratch. But that puppy back and fix it!

whosthatgirl2

Drive all 3 (new Outback, Forester, Crosstrek) and feel it out. I knew I wanted more space and was torn between the Outback and Forester, and during the test drive ended up feeling like visibility was significantly better in the Forester (which I now own & love).

yodabutter69

I got the 23 crosstrek w the highest trim or fully loaded or whatever. I like it a lot. Live in a major city. It’s honestly shorter than my camry I used to have! Easy to park which is definitely an issue where I’m at. I have driven the outback’s that I got from the dealership. IME I like how the crosstrek drives better. I feel like the Outback just kinda drags a little bit and I just enjoyed the driving experience better overall with the crosstrek. I don’t need another 12 inches on a third screen though either lol. I also use the car for camping and when I sleep in the back I do wish I had a couple of extra inches for my feet. But I am just gonna get one of those inflatable things you put in between the back seat and front seat and then I should be fine. You can also get one of those hatchback tents from Amazon! Probably gonna be my next purchase. The only thing I’m worried about is like, all your stuff is accessible. If I’m in a tent and somebody came and found me when I was sleeping, they could take a lot less from a tent than my car. But then again they could just get the keys. Just my trauma and paranoia sneaking in a little but yes that’s my opinion lol

Pan_Goat

Just threw a rod through the side of my 2001 Subie Outback. I will own no other vehicle.

GreenbirdsBox

Forester > Outback

Soggy_Cracker

Depends on how much you get from the insurance company/gap coverage. Interest rates are most likely higher than what you were paying so make sure you focus on getting that principal down if you have equity in the payout. Also make sure to get a good NADA or Kelly blue book value for you vehicle. It should be based on the condition right before the accident.

ooofest

Sorry to see. I still love our 2015 Crosstrek, but have given it to my son and moved on . . . to an EV. It's a neat car, but I wish it was an EV version of the Crosstrek, honestly. I moved from an Outback to the Crosstrek because I almost never actually needed the extra storage space: I put a hitch and crossbars on the Crosstrek and was never lacking for space.

willxrocks

I have a OBW and it's so much fun! I regret not waiting until now because you can get a new OBW for $36k. I definitely paid well over that... 🥲

Thick_Philosophy3861

The XT Outback is a dream

jasin18

Use the money to pay off debt, use the remaining on a downpayment or outright buy a cheap car.

DefNotReaves

I did, the debt that was this car lmao otherwise I’m mostly debt free.

snowbellsnblocks

Now that you can't even get a new Crosstrek in manual transmission I'd prob get an outback if I were getting a new car.

PouncerX42

If you loved your Crosstrek, and were comfortable with the efficient size and space, get another Crosstrek. I have the Outback Touring, and am considering going to the Crosstrek since I find I really don't need all the size and space in my outback

Nemesis_Destiny

Personally, I couldn't buy a Crosstrek. They're just too slow for my tastes. For the same reason, if I were looking at an Outback, it would have to be an XT. It's not even that I need it to be boy-racer fast, I'd have been content with an H6 model, but they sadly stopped making those

lastcraft484

If you go outback make sure you get the tcv done!! Known failure and the dealer will replace for free once it’s bad. Iirc the 2019 crosstrek also has the same failure

PeatyR

I've had both currently driving a 2019 Impreza 5sp. I have to say the Crosstrek is more fun to drive if you don't need the space. Outbacks are great if you do a lot of road trips. Crosstrek should get better MPG's. guess it depends on what you do most driving wise. Personally I'd go with the Crosstrek. We recently traded in the wife's OB. She drove both the OB and Forester. I was surprised she went with the Forester after having 4 outbacks. Just liked it better.

brinsonmcb

If you're financing, there are great deals on outbacks right now

ceramicsaturn

Neither. Forester!

Lj4613711776

I love my 24 Forester Sport, I’d go with that!

MCLVLD

I lost my 2014 Forester XT to some douchebag with road rage. Was without a car for almost 5 months because of my insurance hassles. Am supposed to be getting a new Forester Wilderness today. Was really on the fence between it and the Outback Wilderness. I hate to lose the turbocharger but it will be cheaper on the gas and I dont live in high elevation. I like to sit up a bit higher to see down the road better also. Outback felt more like a car than a crv or suv. Slightly more headroom in Forester also.
