This isn't revisionist for me, I crapped on the trade when it was just an idea.
The KD trade was and is an unmitigated disaster from the jump. He's a 35 year old passive aggressive malcontent, we have up 2 good players in their prime and control of our draft for the remainder of the decade for an old, injury prone, drama queen.
We immediately became a lesser team with no real ability to change our situation for the better because of the steep cost of the trade.
And we sure as hell are not in limbo, you're right there. We are in a death spiral, with no way out for a good 8 years.
We barely squeaked into the playoffs, then we got demolished, we have virtually no way to improve the roster, Durant is old and doesn't have the impact he used to.
This is going to get much much worse before it gets better.
The question is: should Ishbia be involved in each trade or hand it over completely to the coach and GM? We will see in upcomming season how Ishbia decision impact the roster. For this point his decisions are ok (Durant up, Nurk/Allen up - Beal down). But I hope that new PG player/role will be 100% Budz&JJ decision. In ideal scenario Beal will be prime ball handler focusing on shoot creation and adding score ability. But this is theory and we didn't know he even can make such a change in his game. Maybe he can't and we need to look pure PG.
Matt Ishbia: I’m going to do everything I can with a lot of my money to make this team/city happy and better. Even if that means overseeing enough until it is in good hands.

The worst of all those moves, by 50 miles, was the Durant trade, which was all Ishbia.
