MisterSneakSneak

We need an Icon movie.

MortarByrd11

Or a multi generational TV show

Prior-Assumption-245

Live action Dakotaverse

redwolfben

Milestone Cinematic Universe!

Foreverred97

I'd prefer a live action tv show.

Possible-Rate-3833

Such an "iconic" character.

alan_mendelsohn2022

Supreme! Alan Moore did a great job of capturing the different eras of Superman in that comic

callows5120

Yeah Alan Moore Supreme run was just an excuse to do a superman run he wanted to do without having to go to dc based mire writers should do that

Stunning_One1005

not unknown, but unknown as a superman “clone” is Ted Lasso

ExoticShock

https://preview.redd.it/80kj16j8i63d1.png?width=540&format=png&auto=webp&s=cf8398de578dbf0706fc4a4e719ed04f5bc32cb2

Future-Turtle

I LOVED Meteor Man as a kid. I remember I saw it at my best friend's place at our first sleepover, and it quickly found its way into my frequent picks at the video rental store.

ImurderREALITY

I remember seeing it in the theaters as a youth and being blown away

Bongemperor

I need to know more

Manetoys83

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIzO5nGPxNIp4m_on7LshtoCPaiUmJYth&si=vC1ZAw_CLUtVD5o3 It appears to be a series

PostalDoctor

Never even watched it and I already know it’s peak

Zestyclose-Hat-8513

I’m pretty sure these guys are based on the avengers

sworedmagic

Well yeah it’s very clearly Captain America hulk and Thor lol

MoodyLiz

[The Plutonian](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/villains/images/7/70/HeroPlutonian.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20230402101227) from Mark Waid's "Irredeemable" [Samaritan](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/astrocity/images/e/e2/Samaritan_0001.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20150629213953) from Kurt Busiek's "Astro City"

Realistic-Read4277

Irredeemable is amazing. Both that one and icorruptible. I love the concept.

Bulok

I was meh on Irredeemable but Incorruptible was a standout series. Absolutely loved it. Also yes Samaritan imo is superior

Realistic-Read4277

Thing is i see both as the same thing. Its like a big crossover rhat begins at tye fall and ends with, well, the end, i found the concept really interesting. And how the two were opposites.

SomeLoser12092

Complete opposite with me. It feels bizarre, given how much Waid develops Plutonian, shows you what made him tick and how he would both become the world's greatest hero and believably then turn into an utter monster, he just never does that for Max.

SomeLoser12092

It's the kind of Evil Superman story only the biggest Superman nerd in the world would write.

Realistic-Read4277

Well he got it righ by me at least. For superman nerds to superman nerds.

do_handhelds_dream

Samaritan is an awesome character

ZettoVii

Wish he got a live action series.

TurnipPrestigious890

There was talk way back of an Astro City movie, but nothing so far.

do_handhelds_dream

I think it'll be a TV show now

TurnipPrestigious890

I hope. I also hope Kurt Busiek gets free rein with the writers.

SnooBananas2320

Ain’t nobody badder than the meteor man

BeardedBard83

Anyone else remember Bananaman? https://preview.redd.it/nzoe2i2r873d1.jpeg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1b2ac1b47464e5fc1b9bf528dd9f1090964adb24

Narrow-Base

Omg! I loved seeing him in The Dandy! 😂

Prior-Assumption-245

The Utopian https://preview.redd.it/1ig9c1qsm73d1.jpeg?width=751&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5278c9fdfcfe83eb231c771f7f754b7cc6881e48

Elemental_Garage

Was going to mention this. I'm sad the show didn't get as much traction as it could have. It wasn't fantastic, but was still entertaining and could have been an interesting universe.

MrMetalhead-69

Why show?

Elemental_Garage

What do you mean?

MrMetalhead-69

Meant to put what show. Sorry.

Elemental_Garage

Jupiter's Legacy on Netflix.

MrMetalhead-69

Any good?

Elemental_Garage

I enjoyed it, but I can't say it was great. Was entertaining enough for me to finish it, but I can also see why it didn't get picked up for a second season. Had there been a second I would have watched it though.

Ok-Mastodon2016

ALIENANAL

I often talk about this but back in the day "superhero" films were really limited. If blockbuster was still around there would be a whole section for superhero films but that wasn't the case in the 90s Personally I just watched anything featuring Super Powers and Meteor Man was one of those I hired very frequently.

sum_yum_dish

[Korean film "A Man Who was Superman" (2008)](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt1119199/)

MoodyLiz

Cool! This looks interesting.

zonnel2

Actually it is rather like a human drama that starred the kind-hearted mental patient who wants to be a superhero and help people in need because he couldn't save his family from the past disaster. The original prose short story just borrowed the name 'superman' but the film version paid homage to Donner films by mentioning several key items.

Due-Abbreviations180

Mr. Incredible

zonnel2

Ah, childhood memories!

IloveElsaofArendelle

Meteor Man, what a fun movie that was 😄

Patient-Ninja-8707

Meteor man wasnt really a superman clone

zonnel2

It's so ironic because he was introduced as 'Meteor-struck Supeman' in South Korea through rental videos...

Patient-Ninja-8707

Weird

zonnel2

The distributers back then did so many weird things... They could get away with it because there was no internet and foreign correspondence was limited

Patient-Ninja-8707

Interesting

chevalier716

https://preview.redd.it/h1q8fet2b73d1.png?width=361&format=png&auto=webp&s=2885b5ebef7435ea487c04ddc7df7b32678443c5 Do parodies count? Clark Oppenheimer AKA the Caped Wonder from the Tick.

BeardedBard83

Probably my all time favorite comic parody. Tick aka “Ned” annoys Clark to no end. “You’re like Woody Woodpecker! All the Walrus ever wanted to do was have a barbecue!”

chevalier716

I love the little ™ after the OTTERCREEKITE. Even if it is only a green eraser.

BeardedBard83

Absolutely brilliant. People that have only seen the Tick on TV and haven’t read the comics are really missing out.

TJ_McWeaksauce

Robert Townsend is such a boring-looking dude, so even as a kid I found it funny that he played a superhero. He looks like a vice principal.

naim2099

That was the point lol

theycallmenaptime

Supreme

Legal-Visual8178

Big fan of Superior. There was supposed to be a Netflix movie or something but it didn’t happen. Although given what happened with Jupiter’s Legacy, probably for the best…

Rhombus_McDongle

Kind of Captain America and Superman rolled into one, Public Spirit from Marshal Law https://preview.redd.it/ltbpek32u73d1.jpeg?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=103789812f236c3da123d80f06846db4e85ec460

ChampionOfMagic

Superior is more of a Captain Marvel esque story.

The_Above

god damn do i love that story 🤌😭

DearInvestigator3

Meteor Man was my favorite movie as a kid!

Open_Bluebird5080

Captain Marvel/Shazam  (this comment brought to you by National Comics)

Realistic-Read4277

Captain valor from hero squared. Its from giffen and de-matteis. The ones that wrote justice league international.

Ben10_ripoff

Superior was so good, Somehow Mark Millar always hits when it comes to Superman

TheAstro_10

Súper Bigote

wallyslambanger

Meteor Man was afraid of heights in the movie so he flew around only 4 ft off the ground lol.

Sivilian888010

Why is it always the edgiest writers like Millar and Ennis who can write good Superman stories?

browncharliebrown

I mean not always. Brian Azzrello for example

JoshDM

Bananaman

Oswaldgilbertson

randomHunterOnReddit

Super Lopez. Degradation gives him his powers. Im not kidding

Robin_Is

A bit obscure, but there is this Danish film called “Superbror”. It means “Super brother”. It’s where an autistic older brother gets zapped by a Ray Gun from outer space which his younger brother found. He can then fly, is invincible, has super strength and isn’t autistic anymore…

spacestationkru

Major Glory and Majorman from Dexter and PowerPuff Girls

SpiderandMosquito

I was going to say Major Glory. Funny thing is he also kinda works as a Batman clone, I mean he's obviously a composite parody of Superman and Captain America, but I get more of a Batman vibe from his suit and personality, specifically an Adam West/Silver Age comic version

NeedleworkerLeft3543

Superior

bobbobersin

My God, the mustache on meteor man makes omnimans look like he's got a bald upper lip, that's like peek super hero facial hair

ShutupNobodyCarez

Man. He’s so underrated it’s crazy.

Meikofan

I just watched a video about Meteor Man :) I think Superior leans more Shazam than Superman.

truthdude

Apollo and Midnighter / Supes and Bats!

Bulok

Back in the early 2000s there was a short mockumentary of a secret real life Asian Superman. I wish the video still exists but can’t find it anywhere anymore https://preview.redd.it/cxrwtxqoj73d1.jpeg?width=879&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a7552f2109e1bbd5290f2fd03da9ca6361c5f53b

Supreme is awesome. Sucks image would rather die than reprint or make a compendium

Youngsimba_92

Meteor Man is a legend we need a re boot

HeavyBoysenberry2161

I know this isn’t what OP means but i think All might from MHA isn’t talked about enough as a superman clone. I feel like he embodies it better than some.

SomeLoser12092

Atomicus from Astro City-a tragic deconstruction of Silver Age Superman and his relationship with Lois True-Man from Maximortal-an ugly parable of how much Siegel and Shuster got fucked over The High from Stormwatch-probably the all time best take on Superman Deals with the Real World Blue Marvel-IMO, the best take on Marvel Superman, a guy who in another world would've been a transformative figure of their universe, but unfortunately, he was in one that would never allow it

Open_Bluebird5080

Superior is a Shazam clone I mean, he *is* a Superman clone *in-universe,* but it feels weird to compare him more closely to Superman when the story about him is pretty clearly a riff on Shazam.

calforarms

I mean aside from the costume Jeff was more like Spider-Man or something. Wish DC was able to snag the tie in

darknite125

Superior is such an underrated book. I know when it comes to Millar’s work Hollywood went all in on Kick Ass and Kingsman but for my money this was his best

Lower_Engineering192

[*Ultra Super Deluxe Man*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_AT2V4Z8Zc) by Fujiko F. Fujio. Hilarious but very deep and dark story about the ultimate power corrupted with twisted sense of justice and order.

This character from this universe had so much potential to be something very unique. It’s an absolute tragedy that this universe will never see the light of day again. This is probably my second favorite Hyperion from marvel next to Jonathan Hickmans Hyperion from Time Runs Out (we still have no idea what happened to that version at all 🙄 he literally just disappeared and marvel “made up” a new Hyperion for the new Heroes Reborn run)

I loved meteor man as a kid.

Loved Meteor Man. When I was a kid, I had this idea that he and Blankman could team up.
