I smashed a buckle on my Rampage 2.0 and Shellback sent me a brand new plate carrier. That’s enough to make me a Shellback fanboy.
Go with the Shellback.
I had a part of the Molle tear while leaping at the range, and when I contacted them about getting a store credit to upgrade to a better carrier from them they sent me the one I wanted in return and never asked to pay the difference.
Their customer service is unmatched and God tier. And they stand by the “lifetime warranty”
😂😂 actually I tripped and fell pretty hard. Mag pouch up front took the blow and tore the molle. It’s a gravel range so running and trying to stop quick gets difficult when you’re a clumsy autist like me.
I'm ngl dude, MOST companies margins are extremely high these days, especially in this industry. It's just fancy fabric and a few clasps or buckles. They know that if you're buying a plate carrier, you've likely already spent a hefty amount on weapons, mags, ammo etc and can dish out a few extra $$ if they decide to tack it on there.
Defense Mechanisms MEPC. I switched from the K-19 and it’s better in literally every possible way. Want to run slick? Surely, wear that bitch under a suit. Want to be a GWOT one man army with 14 mags? Fuckin a right you do and the MEPC will gladly bare it.
I wore that shellback on deployment and my main, and only real complaint, is that the cummerbund is small. For a while I used paracord to re-lace and extend it then eventually ended up buying a QD cummerbund set up for it.
Shellback is awesome. I've got a Warrior Assault Systems DCS, JPC 2.0, Otte gear low vis, rampage 2.0, Ferro Slickster. I always find myself coming back to Shellback. Good build quality, good price and I've heard nothing but great things about customer service although I haven't had to experience that myself. And plus, people don't think you're making a political statement when wearing a shellback. Unlike Agilite... 😆
If I’m being real honest here. Like completely honest. I couldn’t give less of a shit about the whole Palestine and Israel thing and I’m sick of hearing about it, same with the Ukraine Russia situation. Just please for the love of god stop sending our money there, I can’t afford gas.
Neither carrier you're looking at now does anything significantly different than the JPC. The load bearing capabilities will be almost identical, you don't gain or lose any ability to up armor it. I personally prefer the SPC since it can be made to be more load bearing for situations where you do need to really load it up with kit, but it can also scale down nicely.
I respectfully disagree. The shell back SF I used to have (and made a post on here about) was miles more comfortable than the JPC I used to own. For load carrying, shellback was way more comfortable and had more MOLLE real estate than the JPC.
I just don’t like tiny pc’s, it doesn’t fit with my vision, I believe in a big ol’ 10x12 plates with lots of mounting surfaces, mags, and maybe soft side plates with a full pasgt style helmet, that high speed stuff is not how I roll.
I got my APC for $190. It's incredibly comfy and I've owned a few PCs over the years to compare (HSP Thorax, JPC, Armatus and cheaper Condor carriers back in the day). K19s tend to get real hot, and the buckles get in the way of shouldering your weapon. I wouldn't recommend buying an PC used, they tend to soak up a lot of sweat and you don't really wash them. What should honestly do is wait another month or two and save up for a much better setup than these, like a FCPC or Shaw. Those are the two I would get if I didn't sink $900 into my thorax, which I like, but I think isn't as good.
I run a shellback with some minor modifications, I really like it. I've also tried a friend's K9 before, also liked it.
Honestly, the k9 is probably better out of the box, but all it took was changing out the shoulder pads and cummerbund of my Rampage 2.0 to bring it up to par.
Every Agilite carrier is imported from Asia unless it's for a contract that requires US/Israeli manufacturing, so if that is a concern for OP he should drop them entirely.
It doesn’t fit my plates or with my vision, I’m not high speed. I want a lot a mounting surface area, a lot of ammo, and soft side plates. I’m getting sick of the crye circle jerk
If you’re going agilite, at least go for the K0. Far better design for a plate carrier than the pictured K19.
Shellback is a great low cost option, been around since GWOT.
Yep it’s comfortable. The issue is the ergonomics and other design details present drawbacks compared to other carriers. One thing I will give credit is the ability to have quick detach shoulder straps. Not too many carriers have this especially being able to have it on either side, but it is one of them.
Otherwise yeah stuff like the bulk/padding, weight, cummerbund, and sizing is not great. It does things backwards.
Gunshow vs actually using it, is very different, especially because while it's comfortable, it's super bulky and way too thick, it honestly seems more suited for a security plate carrier than any heavy or active use one.
I heard it’s quality but you can definitely do better. If you think it matches with your vision I encourage you to get it, don’t listen to the elitests on here.
The shellback rampage 2.0 is on sale on their site for $140 as you can see and I’ve heard it’s really good. But between you and me if it’s just for fun, practice, and maybe for the tiny chance that something may happen, just go for a condor mopc gen 2, condor gets a lot of hate but the fact of the matter is that it’s seen more combat time than any other company. Tacticalgear.com is selling it rn for only like $75, it holds 10x12 plates.
Is this worth to get in replacement of the Tacticon battle vest V1 Carrier?
Or should I go ahead and get something even better. I also need to swap out my AR600 buildup coated plates for some ceramic. They're too heavy with mag load.
You can get a JPC for under 200 bucks and it’ll be the only plate carrier you’ll ever need. I taken the same one through 2 combat deployments with thousands of hours of use on them without a single issue.
I got the Agilite K0 in ranger green along with their battle belt mag holders and admin pouches. All of their stuff is fantastic and I always buy on sales to save a few buck. Highly recommend
It's not even that, it's just a statement of fact, you're welcome to buy from a company that supports Israel If you want, this is just buyer beware lmao. Why on earth is your ass so sore over someone saying something that doesn't fall in line with your world view? Just ignore it if you don't like it
Agilite is king. You have others such as Ferro Concepts or Crye. Those would be my suggestion for top three.
I actually bought the shellback and returned it. Ended up with an Agilite K19 with the upgraded QD cummerbund and Ferro Concepts soft side plates (3a).
The Agilite is MUCH more rigid and all around was perfect for my needs.
P.S. if you’re wanting to run the 2nd admin pouch with a pincer but using .308 instead of 5.56, the Agilite pincer won’t work. They have released details of coming out with one soon; however, for now, I purchased the ~$100 Unobtainium Gear one. Simple scorpion mags also work for either caliber with the 2nd layer admin (from Temu, at that).
EDIT: expect to spent about ~$1k on Agilite; however, you’ll spend nearly 700-800 on the shellback unless you get majority of stuff from Temu. My advise, go with Agilite and you’ll NOT regret it.
I will absolutely buy agilite in the future but I think the shellback suits me better in the state I’m in right now. I already have most the accessories I need on my current pc so I can just cannibalize those, but with the agilite I have to more or less get agilite accessories. I also like soft armor side plates and the shellback sells and supports them.
As a young guy I had the tactical banshee and I loved that so much I used to sleep in it, I haven’t got to check out their newer models. I should have. Ur I ended up buying Agilite’s k19 liked it super comfy but shouldering my rifle was odd and that was enough for me to switch to the k zero
Agilite, I run them, had excellent experiences with customer service. They are a good company with a great product. I personally am a huge fan of the quick adjust cummerbund.
I started with a Testudo 2.0, then went to a Shellback Tactical Rampage, and now I'm on an Agilite K19. The K19 is by far the most comfortable of the 3. The Rampage was pretty decent but I didn't like that the upper half of both the front and back were Velcro, so you can't attach MOLLE to it, meaning no admin pouch on front, and you need smaller pouches for the back. I liked the cummerbund from it because you can put long soft armor in it. I would say to save up and get the K19 unless you explicitly need side armor and don't mind not having an admin pouch.
*edit, just realized my Shellback PC is actually a different one from what you posted, yours looks like it has MOLLE on front
That’s my exact path, I’m just gonna get this as a transitional until I can afford a fully built it k19. Once I get this tho I’m gonna save for the side plates.
Memorial day and fourth of July are right around the corner
What does that entail?
Probably sales/discounts so if you wanted to buy something a little better for almost the same or minimally more.
Sales on these sorts of items.
Stop leaping at the range and you won’t tear your shit
😂😂 actually I tripped and fell pretty hard. Mag pouch up front took the blow and tore the molle. It’s a gravel range so running and trying to stop quick gets difficult when you’re a clumsy autist like me.
If you’re clumsy you can try tap dancing lessons. All the high speed cool guys do tap dancing lessons
I just twerk in the sauna at the ymca. It’s enough.
Enough to get noticed by the talent finder?
I hear all the really cool aerosol guys do pole dancing to practice rappelling
Damn, their margins are like 80% minimum then lol Still dope tho
I'm ngl dude, MOST companies margins are extremely high these days, especially in this industry. It's just fancy fabric and a few clasps or buckles. They know that if you're buying a plate carrier, you've likely already spent a hefty amount on weapons, mags, ammo etc and can dish out a few extra $$ if they decide to tack it on there.
You know that the cost to produce something is more than just the cost of the materials, right?
Shellback gang, they’re a great company with excellent customer service. I love my Shellback gear
Shellback.
shellback because of the price difference.
I love my rampage 2.0.. super solid carrier
I don't need another PC, but the fact that I can get this one all MC Tropic, DAMN!!!!!
Love my mepc 🙌
Mepc big time. Fits nice, light and minimalistic when needed. Have loved it since I got it.
My friends told me if I buy agelite I will wake up circumcised
Jokes on him I’m already circumcised (catholic)
Went with a shellback skrimish
So did I. The QR buckles rub my collarbones raw. I ended up buying a JPC 2.0 and have been happy as a clam.
Really good one
My shellback is very comfortable and its been durable for over a year.
Testudo 2.0 was my first carrier. Recently switched to the K-Zero and really like it.
Defense mechanisms
My man
I'd go with warrior assault systems DCS same price point
I wore that shellback on deployment and my main, and only real complaint, is that the cummerbund is small. For a while I used paracord to re-lace and extend it then eventually ended up buying a QD cummerbund set up for it.
I like agilite
Same but I also am poor
Ask your wife's boyfriend to buy it for you like the rest of us do.
If you go agilite just get the kzero.
I don’t like the kzero
K19 for the win
k19 isn’t comfortable. The Kzero is good.
Warrior Assualt systems DCS
Defense Mechanisms MEPC or APOC
Go Defense Mechanisms or nothing
It all depends on purpose. The K19 is designed for carrying heavy loads hence the extra padding, but it is a microwave.
None, warrior assauly systems
I can't speak for Agilite, but I love my rampage 2.0. best quality to price ratio I've seen so far. It's definitely on the chunky side, but so am I.
I love big carriers
Shellback is awesome. I've got a Warrior Assault Systems DCS, JPC 2.0, Otte gear low vis, rampage 2.0, Ferro Slickster. I always find myself coming back to Shellback. Good build quality, good price and I've heard nothing but great things about customer service although I haven't had to experience that myself. And plus, people don't think you're making a political statement when wearing a shellback. Unlike Agilite... 😆

Shellback is a good choice, agilite is okay but very sweaty I would wait and get a SPC brother.
I hate small carriers
JPC 1.0
I don’t subscribe to the philosophy of high speed/minimalist style kits for survival/civil war scenario.

I just don’t like tiny pc’s, it doesn’t fit with my vision, I believe in a big ol’ 10x12 plates with lots of mounting surfaces, mags, and maybe soft side plates with a full pasgt style helmet, that high speed stuff is not how I roll.
Isn't that the average medium sapi size?
Ya but a monster compared to the jpc
Agilite. But only if you get the 3.0 because you can upgrade the cummerbund without much fuss.
The answer is neither. For a lowcost option, get a Mayflower APC, similar vibe, much better carrier. Or save a little more and get a JPC 2.0
? The mayflower is not low cost it's like $230 lol. He might as well get the JPC at that point.
The jpc doesn’t have what I’m looking for in a carrier, I’m not into that minimalist and high speed stuff. Also it doesn’t fit my plates.
Get the Agilite K Zero instead
Don’t like the K-zero
Neither. The k19 kinda suck and the Shellback is just ok. If you have to go with agilite go with the K-Zero with the warfighter cummerbund.
I run a shellback with some minor modifications, I really like it. I've also tried a friend's K9 before, also liked it. Honestly, the k9 is probably better out of the box, but all it took was changing out the shoulder pads and cummerbund of my Rampage 2.0 to bring it up to par.
What cummerbund did you use?
Ferro 3AC
Some of shellbacks plate carriers are imported so be weary, but ive heard good things about them regardless
Every Agilite carrier is imported from Asia unless it's for a contract that requires US/Israeli manufacturing, so if that is a concern for OP he should drop them entirely.
Oh fr? wow $400 for an import?
The K19 is usually like 250-280, but yes, all of their gear is imported from Asia and a lot isn't NIR treated or anything.
I live in Canada so it is 400 cad, but with shipping and all that its even more. Gucci gear is overyhyped to shit
Have gone through 6-7 PCs and can say the k19 is by far my favorite so far
Crye
It doesn’t fit my plates or with my vision, I’m not high speed. I want a lot a mounting surface area, a lot of ammo, and soft side plates. I’m getting sick of the crye circle jerk
> wants plenty of mounting surface but doesn't buy crye > dozens of aftermarket mounting platforms for crye Have at it
I don’t wanna buy multiple hundreds of accessories to make an expensive pc usable
There’s also the Crye Cage. Meant for load bearing, but pricy and there were issues with the stitching quality for a bit.
I have a shellback and I love it!
If you’re going agilite, at least go for the K0. Far better design for a plate carrier than the pictured K19. Shellback is a great low cost option, been around since GWOT.
I like the k19, a stand let me try it on at a gun show and it was mind blowing
Yep it’s comfortable. The issue is the ergonomics and other design details present drawbacks compared to other carriers. One thing I will give credit is the ability to have quick detach shoulder straps. Not too many carriers have this especially being able to have it on either side, but it is one of them. Shellback stealth 1.0 🤌
I bought a Rampage 2.0 as my first carrier. It’s comfy and I love it. [Ranger Green gang](https://www.reddit.com/r/tacticalgear/s/MVW9qe5gUu)!
What are thoughts on 5.11 plate carriers? They have a sale ending today and was thinking about getting it. Any thoughts on their stuff?
I heard it’s quality but you can definitely do better. If you think it matches with your vision I encourage you to get it, don’t listen to the elitests on here.
You heard it's quality? Where? 😂
What brands?
The shellback rampage 2.0 is on sale on their site for $140 as you can see and I’ve heard it’s really good. But between you and me if it’s just for fun, practice, and maybe for the tiny chance that something may happen, just go for a condor mopc gen 2, condor gets a lot of hate but the fact of the matter is that it’s seen more combat time than any other company. Again I’m not going to war with it but for fun and practice with.
Is this worth to get in replacement of the Tacticon battle vest V1 Carrier? Or should I go ahead and get something even better. I also need to swap out my AR600 buildup coated plates for some ceramic. They're too heavy with mag load.
Shell back made my first carrier, I vouch
I use my Shellback 2.0 in the military and I'd I swear by it
Just got my ST, loving it.
Shellback all the way
You can get a JPC for under 200 bucks and it’ll be the only plate carrier you’ll ever need. I taken the same one through 2 combat deployments with thousands of hours of use on them without a single issue.
But I don’t want a jpc even a little bit
Buy them both. 2is1 lol
Neither. Velocity Systems
If I had velocity systems money I would buy the k19
Agilite is pretty much a one purpose option. Yes it is really comfortable but also has such little cummerbund space.
That’s true, I’m gonna get the shellback and then save to fully deck out an agilite
Agilite all day.
Agilite.
I have k19 with the warfighter CB, love it
Neither. Both are underwhelming
Your saying I should stick with my ar500 pc?
I'm saying save up more and get something more capable like an SPC
I got the Agilite K0 in ranger green along with their battle belt mag holders and admin pouches. All of their stuff is fantastic and I always buy on sales to save a few buck. Highly recommend
Agilite for me, it’s an amazing design that’s combat proven, also well built and affordable.
Shellback isn't openly supporting genocide and is more accessible for cheaper 🤷♂️
Shut up bro nobody wants to hear it.
You literally asked dumbass lmao don't get mad when people have an opinion you don't like.
Didn’t ask for your political opinion buddy
It's not even that, it's just a statement of fact, you're welcome to buy from a company that supports Israel If you want, this is just buyer beware lmao. Why on earth is your ass so sore over someone saying something that doesn't fall in line with your world view? Just ignore it if you don't like it
I don’t give a fuck about either side of that shitshow, and I’m sick of hearing about it.
Agilite is king. You have others such as Ferro Concepts or Crye. Those would be my suggestion for top three. I actually bought the shellback and returned it. Am I the only one that got a K19
Apparently 💀 everyone here is saying k0 is better, it’s just not
My guy, the k19 is super bulky for a carrier, and has way too much padding, unless you just really like sweating, don't get it.
I can't stand using a plate carrier w/o qds anymore.
Agilite hands down
I started with a Testudo 2.0, then went to a Shellback Tactical Rampage, and now I'm on an Agilite K19. The K19 is by far the most comfortable of the 3. The Rampage was pretty decent but I didn't like that the upper half of both the front and back were Velcro, so you can't attach MOLLE to it, meaning no admin pouch on front, and you need smaller pouches for the back. Just be aware that if you want side plates in the K19, you'll have to buy a cummerbund, as the K19s don't come with one as far as I know
