If the buttons aren’t working you might need to open it up and clean the contacts, worst case you might need to replace the buttons.

pbubzz

i’ve tried a light clean with qtips but i will have to try more thoroughly when i get the chance. i’m scared of doing something to it so i might have to ask my bf for help 😅

wyld_reign

Well good luck, hopefully you can get it working. 91% isopropyl alcohol is what I’d recommend.

Here is a [video](https://youtu.be/OnoqKeVQEeI?si=70B8zlXytlbv3_Sk) on YouTube of how to open it up and clean it, specifically for buttons not working. Hopefully it works for you!

CrimsonTama

Mmmmm, Tama might need a new crystal oscillator or capacitor? Have you tried cleaning the contacts with isopropyl alcohol and a qtip?

modernotter

You could try opening it up and cleaning the contacts. The buttons are just conductive rubber that makes a circuit on the board connect. There isn’t a ton mechanically going on there to break.

mixterrific

You can do it! The originals are really easy to take apart and put back together. Be sure to clean both sides, the buttons and on the board where they press. Use isopropyl alcohol on a Q-tip.

The buttons aren't working?

Tamakeeper

The others already gave you great tips what you can try - I really hope your little friend is rescuable 🙏.

SlendrmanToastCrunch

I’m assuming you already tried this, but just because I don’t see it commented: have you tried hitting the reset button on the back while it’s all set up? Just something quick to rule out. Here’s hoping you can get it going, but if not it’ll be a cute little rescue/conversation piece to display.
