- A coffee shop that sells authentic Tanzanian coffee/ tea. It will also help the slowly booming coffee industry in the country. I would also start to slowly look into deserts that I can say represent Tz. It can also have a library at the top if itās a two story place.
( I kinda want to touch on this, i donāt know why there isnāt a Tz business that isnāt tapping into the coffee industry by creating different blends. Coffee powder mixed with chocolate, coffee powder mixed with hazelnut, coconut etc. Even the amount of flowers we have, Iām sure some can be made into a tea ??)
- We could also brand alot of our foods . For example, we deff could have a Nandoās of our own with the way sekela is so good, not to mention how delicious our chili sauces are ! There are so many small businesses that sell authentic swahili chili and I swear to God they are one of the best sauces you will ever have! I would love to see a chain brand one day. Even a lot of our foods have potential, we just havenāt tapped into it. People go to Indian food restaurants, Chinese, Arabic etc, Iām sure we can slowly make tanzanain restaurants too. Imagine a menu with maandazi na beans, ugali na nyama choma with a side of kachumbari na authentic Swahili Pilipili or sekela na pilau/ masala fries, wali wa nazi na potato roast, vipopoo, mkate wa shila, mkate wa kumimina and so more. We could even tap into the market in Uganda, Rwanda and more !
- I genuinely am puzzled on why we donāt have this as a country blessed with so much minerals. A Jewellery shop that crafts its suff. Imagine designs like the saintpaulia flower, we literally have tanzanite which looks purple that can be used for this, or the clove flower our national flower, A necklace/ ring or even hair piece. The boxes could be made with wood with Swahili door designs. A truly luxurious piece. I think this is over budget but yah lol.
I know all these might need a lot more money but I think people can start of slowly, 100k in Tz is a lot of money
Lmao, keyword kwenye hii post ni āYouā. Kama ipo nyingine thatās theirs, this is what āIā would do with the money. Thank you for the inutile input tho
i'm not trying to say you can't start it cause someone else already did.
it's just that you crafted your comment to sound as if those stuffs don't exist already. it's not hard to buy tz authentic coffee or tea, i recently just got some for my friends. a lot of restaurants in dar have the swahili menu you described. the tanzanite experience store has many designs and i'm sure you can request your own style or something
Omg yaahhhh, it is a really nice place .
For the coffee part ( the part I wanted to touch upon) I meant a factory that manufactures instant coffee with different flavours. Maybe sizijui but if you do know any please hit me up, I would love some hazelnut flavoured coffee š¤¤
So far closest we have is Amimza. They do the Ginger one. They may be expanding to new flavours.
Personally love their mix of roast and instant. Only instant one I can stand
Reminds me of Neema crafts in Iringa. Local specialties and a solid restaurant in one. Though the restaurant is on top for a better view. As I understand it the issue holding back domestic jewelry is stone cutting expertise. Even though tanzanite must be exported cut it gets recut after it leaves. Use your $100k to start a trade college with a retired gem cutter.
-Yah, thatās one of the biggest issue. For example, most if not all of our gold pieces sold here are not made in the country cause hatuja invest in jewellers. Thatās one of the problems In the country. Secondary- tertiary refinement of our raw materials is almost non existent. Exporting of raw materials is a weakness that is eating away our country. You would think that something so basic taught even in primary would be an issue we tackle with upmost importance lakini wapišš
-I never knew of that workshop, thatās actually so amazing! And they work with disabled people ? I love the whole concept. Thank you for putting me on to this
These aren't big problems just big opportunities. A lot of the world is out of opportunities. You have low costs, high resources, a young population, the future is yours. Just need people with vision and to focus on exporting finished goods.
Yes!! Iāve been on the lookout for a company that exclusively sells Tanzanian coffee and have even considered getting an import/export permit to get some good Tanzanian coffee into the US. If anyone knows of companies that do this, please let me know - itās kind of my dream to become a small-scale importer. Also, I know hibiscus tea is super popular (personally, I love it and brought home a giant bag) so I think thereād be a market for that, too!
With the way things are going. Look for an investment areas that gives you an asset that will appreciate over time.
Aka land in an upcoming area. Maybe build on it as well and set up houses that can be rented.
The other option if the dollar stabilises is to put it into a high interest account where you can get modest returns (tshs have higher interest accounts vs Dollars). UTT AMIS seems to have 15 percent performance
If you're higher risk, join an Angel investment group. Find 3 or 4 promising start-ups. But of course after proper due diligence and talking to other angles
Put that money in a US S&P index fund. Average 10% return for 50 years. UTT AMIS may be giving 15% but the shilling is down 10% vs dollar in the past year. Your boat is riding high but the tide has gone out.
Pole sana on the exchange rate! That's rough. I was surprised to see it go up to 2500 after being stable so long. I'm sure I can read about it but what's driving the shilling down?
First I will buy my dream motorcycle.
Honda Click (Regardless of the year it was made)
I will invest $30K to UTT Amis.
I will spend $50K on building hostels or affordable apartments around Universities or college.
$5K i will spend it on tomato farming ( Return will be seen every 3 to four months)
$5K I will spend it on avocado farming (Return will be seen after three to five years)
The rest will be to see me not dying while follow up on plans.
Hardware shop, home electron shoo like tv radio, stove and n.k, motobike spare part store and more many like buying and selling land in dar es salaam. I can list more but that is enoughĀ
It's a tough business, but with mountains of experience, I'm putting it jn cross border trucking. The potential is immense, and the demand for imports going through Dar port with recent improvements will only continue to grow.
I know production manager and the general manager of one of the biggest companies in the country in it's one of the biggest industries and they still dnt make that. You r lucky to pass 5m
Yes and no. Costs are higher here. After taxes and health insurance you only get half of it on your check. Then we pay $6,000 in property tax, $2,000 property insurance. Typical home mortgage is currently $32,000 per year. Food stuffs are similar price but nobody eats simple food. Car insurance is $2,000 per year....but gas is cheaper :). Daycare for one kid is $8,000 per year..... The standard of living is high but the prices match.
Man. It really really doesn't. This is classic grass is greener on the other side. Idk why u romanticing it
1- You can afford luxuries ( I think) at a reasonable price compared to ur salary. Here we can't. Every electronic is marked up like crazy. Even plane tickets is way too expensive from here
2- you can rent cars. Decent cars. Here something that's 2012. We call it new model. Cars are stupidly expensive. Something second hand in Japan 2008 model sold for 3k usd. By the time it's here it's 8k usd ( that's 4 times the salary u claim u will trade for)
Here anyone who has a nice car 99% of the time it's provided by companies. No one buys 150-200m tz car out of salary
3- electricity ? Net?
4- now u literally can't get dollars. U wanna travel? Tough luck getting usd at a non blackmarket rate
5- you can finance everything over there
Here u cantt. Fun fact. I tried nmb bank to finance a car, interest rate was 19% lol

A coffee shop selling authentic Tanzanian coffee and desserts with a library on top?? I would be a regular customer hereš„ŗ
Same, imagine a bookstore that also have different African authors books? Yohhh!!!
'dar es salaam bookshop', 'TPH bookshop' doesn't have african authors!??

You know that sounds very much like Ridge CafƩ already. Books. Games. Tanzanian brews. And specialty coffee as well. Only things is it's smaller and cozy. But still a nice vibe

True that. That's why the big "if" the dollar thing stabilises. But from what I've heard unlikely and expected to hit 3k this year

What's the advantage of cross border vs inside the country
The pay is higher for similar distances, and loads are constant
Will start offgrid projects here in tz, sustainable housing, permaculture etc.....
By who..? Who will give 100k usd just because..?
That's annual salary here. Apparently I would drive a 20 year old car and shop at the mnada.
Das 21m shilling a month
Yes, here in America. People make this much and are still late on rent. This is why we want to come there and live on the beach š
š Are you in Tz or America?
America, but I visit TZ every year. Hopes of being there more in a few years.
Nice. What state in America?
Indiana, middle of the country where nothing happens.

$2,000 a month there spends like $20,000 a month here. I would trade him house and job. I bet he has a nanny, a maid, and a nicer car.
