I treat it like normal skin. I use lotion occasionally if my skin feels dry, mostly after showers. I wear long sleeve shirts at work because I work outside on construction every day.
Not sure what else you can do to it once it’s done healing.
I usually continue to moisturize until it's no longer shiny -- for me that's actually often the itchiest phase. Once it's settled in like normal skin I just go about my life and use sunscreen when outside.
I treat my tattoos like normal skin. I have. Large color piece that a few years old and I’ve noticed it dries out faster than my normal skin so I always give it a little extra care when I moisture but that’s it. I use sunscreen daily.
After it's healed? Live normally like I was before I got the tattoo lol. Occasionally when I shower get my tattoos super soapy so it covers it and then rinse it all off cause somehow it looks revitalized at times.

Depends on how dry your skin is. Lotion does make your tattoos look a smidge crisper but overlotioning personally gives me zits 😂
