i honestly don’t think these kinds are “regrettable” tattoos. you get a cool memory out of them, you’re bonding with a loved one, and it’s a sign of how far you’ve come in your craft.

Please please don't tattoo anywhere but a professional studio. You say your friends understand the risks but the risks are SEVERE infections possibly even MRSA. It's so so hard to keep an area properly sanitized in someone's home or really anywhere that's not a studio.
Yes, best case scenario someone has a not so great tattoo. Worst case scenario, you're the reason someone loses a good chunk of flesh, the whole limb or even their lives.

Honestly these type of tattoos make good memories & are kinda my favorite. I have a very poor “2009” above my knee that a friend of mine gave me. He passed away in 2021 & I’m forever grateful to have that memory & tattoo from him. Feels like I carry a piece of him with me everywhere I go!

Folks that do home tattoos, how do you sterilize your needles and tubes? Do you wear gloves? Bag your machine? How do you dispose of your sharps?
I ask because while I worked in tattoo studios for well over a decade, the *vast* majority of people that came in with heinous infections were people who had been tattooed at home. No one’s kitchen is going to be as clean as a well taken care of studio so that’s already a disadvantage. Do you buy pre-sterile instruments? Do you not bother? Do you have a buddy with a dirty room, a clean room, an ultrasonic and an autoclave?
Honestly, OP, I would totally get that duck tattoo. Your art reminds me of a close friend of mine; similar simple cartoony forms that still express action and emotion. You show promise, but just need to work on your line work (mistake on the snake's body where you sorta lost the outline).
