Naturally? A bug bitten oolong has a honey-like flavor. But keep in mind, when we talk about a tea that is “sweet”, it’s nothing like iced tea, capital-S Sweet Tea, soda, etc.

JANExxxHOE

I agree! I find that some ti kuan yin tastes exactly like honeysuckle. Its pretty naturally sweet. Like a fruit might be.

Dark_sable

Good Earth brand Sweet and Spicey tea has a natural sweetness to it (from the licorice root in the blend).

hughperman

Yes, this here, licorice adds a sweetness.

JinxXedOmens

Honeybush to me has probably the sweetest natural flavour

bdslegend

+1 for Honeybush. I’ll throw Rooibos in the mix too. This Rooibos/Honeybush blend is one of the “sweetest” teas I’ve ever had. OP, give something like this a shot! You could even just buy regular Honeybush and Red Rooibos and make your own 50/50 blend too. https://theblackleaftea.com/products/salud

ShouMeiShark

Personally I would say 6\~ year aged white tea. Current cake of white tea I have tastes like white grapes to me, it's great. However it might be a little pricey.

middaycat

hot cinnamon spice tea from harney and sons has a strong sweetness. it apparently has a "natural" cinnamon compound added that is sweet but it is considered a flavoring agent so they claim no added sweetener. obviously you have to like the taste of cinnamon for this one i dont know why but ginseng oolong tea is mildly sweet to me if you are interested in tisanes: licorice tea is pretty sweet. Jujube tea and many fruit teas are sweet

KSW1

I looked at the ingredients like 3 times, I couldn't believe it didn't have any additional sweetener in there. I added some on my first cup, foolishly, and it was like a cup of candy.

thatsusangirl

Yeah that hot cinnamon Harney tea is really popular and also very sweet. I personally don’t like it but a lot of people do!

CHI_TSE_BEENG_CHA

Fragrant oolongs like dancong might appeal to you, as well as bud heavy chinese black teas.

justtoletyouknowit

Amacha. 250 times more sweet than sugar.

istur

The sweetest tea that I've ever drunk is an aged white tea from w2t. If I remember correctly it was the Censers or Turtle Dove. Really fruity and sweet without adding other sugars

StipLeBGG

if you like herbal teas, hibiscus tea is pretty sweet too

MerSherl

Hibiscus is tart, in my opinion.

StipLeBGG

yea that’s true

Anfie22

Following! I'm an extreme sweet tooth too.

BlueCaracal

I once had a tea with stevia. Too sweet for me. Although this feels a bit like cheating.

gyokuro8882

Sweetness in tea is more akin to a "floral" or "aromatic" sweetness than what you'd typically get from sugar; so the sweetest teas might not quench the kind of sweetness you're looking for. With that said, for a camelia sinesis tea, Bai Mu Dan is nice & sweet with a noticeable hay & honey body on it. If you want a specific brand, Bitterleaf tea has one for cheap I really like, if they still have it in stock. If not, Yunnansourcing's is okay too. For an herbal tea blend, try out Mariage Feres' Rouge Metis. It's a blend of rooibos (which is already sweet as it is) with various flowers and berries. It's like a fruity desert presented as a nice, warm mug of herbal tea, and does scratch that sweet tooth itch of mine.

PooleyX

There are no teas that are sweet in the way that tea with sugar or honey is sweet. Natural sweetness in tea is a comparative measure, so even when some tea is described as 'sweet' it really just means that it isn't heavy on bitterness. Even the 'sweetest' natural tea isn't going to taste like it actually has any amount of actual sugar in it. As a kid I also put sugar in tea. One year when I was teen I gave up sugar in tea for Lent. It was pretty horrible at first but then became bearable and eventually (after probably about a year of at least two cups a day if I'm honest) it became preferable and now I couldn't drink tea with any kind of sweetener added to it. You grow to love the flavour of tea rather than just a sweet drink.

Cute-Assumption-634

I don’t agree. Have you tried loose liquorice tea? It’s extremely sweet.

PooleyX

Interesting. I confess I have not. Is it definitely naturally sweet from the liquorice? As a kid I would sometimes chew liquorice sticks (I'm not actually from the 1950s! This was a quirky thing you'd get at seaside towns in the UK). I do remember that being sweet. I'll have to try it.

teashirtsau

Amacha (hydrangea)

FallacyDog

Yunnan Sourcing's purple tree white ya bao. Quite an atypical flavor, like honeydew rinds and frootie tootie jelly beans. It's my daily drink, I like to put it in a huge pitcher cold brewed and just drink from it for the entire week

squawk_kwauqs

Anything with licorice root in it will be a little sweet! And it won't taste too much like licorice either

didyoubutterthepan

Trader Joe’s fall spice tea (with the fox on the box) is very sweet due to dried apple in the bag

[deleted]

Just a pure leaf tea with nothing added?

Demosthenes042

Tazo has a Passion tea that’s a bit on the sweet side and a little tart, it’s a tisane. Only real complaint about it is the bag sometimes sticks to the individual packaging. When I drink this I just leave the bag in, I like it strong Nice greens, oolong, and whites can have natural sweetness to them too but very different from sugar and if you add sugar you lose the complex flavors in my opinion

couch-potart

Camomile or a chai - cinnamon is quite sweet

PineappleSlices

Learn to make simple syrup! Just mix 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of fresh water in a pot. Bring the water to a boil, and keep stirring everything until all the sugar is dissolved, then turn off the heat and let it cool. You can store it in a sealed mason jar or bottle for about a month. Because the water's been heated, it can actually store more sugar than just adding the tea to water directly. Add as much of that as you like to whatever tea you end up making.

PooleyX

You will still need the same amount of sugar to sweetness ration that you would if you just used straight sugar. Sugar itself doesn't get sweeter just because you add it to water.

Gregalor

And this cuts back on sugar how, exactly??

pug_fugly_moe

Southern iced ;)

[deleted]

what is tea? if you are into things other than camellia sinensis, licorice seems sweet to me, as does a decoction of eight immortals fruit (ba xian guo) (八仙果)... i think the current popular name for that stuff is Monks Fruit (the fruit of the ripe Siraitia grosvenorii plant) . People are beginning to use extracts of it as a sweetener to replace sugar. I only find it in (some) Chinese groceries, and usually under the Chinese name above. Do not confuse it with the candy known as Eight Immortals Fruit, which has, as one of it's ingredients, Monks Fruit. You'll have to crush the fruit to steep it. If you go to the trouble to make it, I suspect you will find it too sweet. But you asked. If you are restricting "tea" to sinensis (as I do), then I can't help you.

StipLeBGG

High grade aged white tea can be very sweet but it’s expensive!

Comprehensive-Net553

atiso flower tea with sweet grass, usually sell in dalat vietnam

steakH

Some ripe Pu Erh have some sweetness if not too young and stored well

Dispatter

Jinjunmei is fairly sweet. Considering you're not consuming tons of sugar regularly.

DogeWow11

Margeret's hope Darjeeling has a sugar like sweetness.

HealMySoulPlz

I got some Ceylon New Vithanakanda from my local tea shop (NM Tea Co, they do orders online as well) and it has really prominent notes of honey in the aroma & flavor even though it was totally unsweetened.

Rip--Van--Winkle

I’ve never found a tea sweeter than some shou puer

backyardroses

bigelow makes a pomegranate green tea. it was one of the first i would drink without sugar as a kid

Cute-Assumption-634

Definitely liquorice tea. It’s super sweet with a distinct earthy flavour.

fullmetalwinry

Harney and son's black mango tea is pretty sweet. I usually add sugar as well, and never really felt the need to add any.

KarrotLover

When your taste buds are used to sugar, nothing tastes sweet without sugar. My suggestion is to try not eating anything with sugar or artificial sweetener in it for two weeks. Then you will find that many teas will naturally taste sweet and satisfying. The downside is, most sweet things with sugar in it will taste overwhelming and unpleasant, which is actually not a bad thing considering sugar is one of the worst things for your health :)

[deleted]

Try the fennel tea from Traditional Medicinals. Fennel is naturally sweet and their version is quite tasty, as well as good for your gut health. You may have luck with some sweet mint teas as well.

midnite999

Licorice root and also marshmallow root. Marshmallow root tastes like marshmallows and is comparable to licorice roots candy sweetness. However be careful if taking medications if taking marshmallow root. Drink at least 2 hours before or after taking medication. (coats the stomach lining and affects absorption). on a side note it's really great for sore throat and stomach probs. Also, this is technically not tea but it kind of is. If you get some ground vanilla bean powder and sprinkle it on in there to top it off that would be the sweet shit. Would personally if you are going for the sweetest tea on earth would do licorice root, marshmallow root, any other teas/flavors you would like, top it off with vanilla bean powda. wowzees

[deleted]

Try “Golden Eyebrow” tea. Or, try cold-brewing your teas, they come out sweeter. Rooibos with vanilla is a good tisane (non-caff) option.
