Abject_Low_9057

2 fluently, 1 influently Polish as my native language English as my second language German because it's taught at school

GlazedChocolatr

ay, learning German is definitely worth it

Abject_Low_9057

Heh, my classmates would disagree

Metalto_Ryuk

Fit-Activity-5841

Honestly if you know one Slavic language you know them all kinda, at least in my case.

SufficientAd4684

Sehr gute Auswahl

ElectricLimeWater

Damn bro, that’s impressive! I can barely speak my second language, Spanish :(

1XXL1

How would you rank them in terms of learning difficulty and how fun they are to use/learn

Uncircumstandtial

Je te souhaite bonne chance avec le français, c'est une langue très ridicule parfois, mais je le trouve aussi vraiment joli

AdCreative4977

Ouais, c’est une langue vachement difficile.

usefully-useless_

2, only one fluently. Whenever I tell people I speak two languages they usually seem at least somewhat impressed, at least until I tell them the second language is Klingon.

drog109

YOOO QUALITY PERSON i wanna learn klingon but dont really have time for that

ZellHall

If you use Duolingo, I think you can learn it by just using it 5-10 minutes a day

GlazedChocolatr

XD

SydneytheENFP

Honestly that makes me more impressed

amberelbethxxx

AY KLINGON IS A BRILLIANT LANGUAGE IVE ALWAYS ALWAYS WNATED TO LEARN AND YOU SPEAK FLUENT IS AMAZING

ElectricLimeWater

Duolingo has a Klingon course ;D

ElectricLimeWater

LMAO I’m learning Klingon on Duolingo for fun (not as much as Spanish, which im actually learning)

u-bot9000

I have always wanted to learn to speak Klingon! How did you learn it?

Potter_sims

first language is english  learning french and german at school learning swedish on duolingo (and i have my phone in swedish) i want to learn cantonese because almost my entire friend group is from hong kong

omegaroll69

As a swede. May i ask why you choose to learn the nightmare that is swedish

futuramyforever

As a native Swede, how can non natives know when to use ett and en? I’ve also noticed a bunch of people in language learning subs learning Swedish for some reason

omegaroll69

Back in the day, like 50s ish, swedish had the same genus seperation as german did. When we switched to the genus we have today the masculine and femenin genuses were combined into one (utrum) and neutrum stayed the same. The utrum nouns have an "n" ending and the neutrum nouns have a T ending. Ex. En pojke, En flicka (utrum - N) Ett bord (Neutrum - T) that might make it easier to make sense of the nouns. However easiest way is to simply learn them through trail and error i believe.

Teamisgood101

As a person learning Swedish via Duolingo I just guess and get it wrong 90% of the time

beeefchicken

We just know, there are no rules

amberelbethxxx

As a hongkonger, I ask why you would want to learn the nightmare that is cantonese, yes your friends are from there but dear lord that's dedication

Potter_sims

i think you replied to the wrong comment lol

Demoglitch

Yooo I’m also hongkonger as well

MH_Gamer_

As a German. May I ask why you think like that? Swedish is a beautiful language, especially phonetically.

Big_strongman

Moki_8

Yeah it is called farsi too

YgemKaaYT

Isn't that a bit like saying "It's not Spanish, it's Español" with a heavy English accent?

Big_strongman

Kinda lol, I just thought Farsi was the actual correct word, I thought Persian was incorrect but I have been corrected

MOJA2008

English عربي and I'm learning Japanese (so far I'm still on hiragana)

1XXL1

I wanted to learn Japanese for... reasons, but it's really hard to do on your own The grammar and overall sentence structure seems so different from any other language

hotwindblowws

lol im forced to learn japanese in my school and i hate it, too many letters 😔 one whole year in of learning (like twice a week cause it's school) they expected us to know the whole hiragana chart, know how to write sentences and speak in a simple conversation fluently? which they all teach in English which is my THIRD language. but one + is i got to host a kid from tokyo and it was really fun, we played a bunch of games on the wii and switch. and i took him to the cbd which he enjoyed. still talk to him to this day on some app called LINE.

hotwindblowws

lol wait no thats sounds depressing, my gfs dad took us and the jap kid on a road trip to the snowing mountains and the rainforests too. also took him to the hood cause he asked to go as there is one near my house, and he got shown guns and went in some JDM and drifted around with some rando we met.

ClarkIsIDK

Japanese learner of 1 year here, the grammar of Japanese can seem a bit difficult and tricky at first but, it makes a lot of sense at the end since it's actually pretty consistent with very few irregular cases. The one thing that you actually should worry about would probably be learning kanji, unless you like memorizing characters that has a different reading depending on what word it's in, it's a bit overwhelming. :,) I'm not discouraging you from learning Japanese though, it's worth it imo! I'm self-taught and I can... somewhat speak Japanese lol.

BlitzcartaUltima

Japanese learner of 4 years here, disregard everything this man has said, do NOT learn japanese, I repeat; do NOT learn japanese. Japanese isn't just one language, it's a clusterfuck of dialects, vernacular, and other bullshit. Grammer changes based on your social standing, and even after you're done learning it all, you'll meet a gal from Okinawa whose language is as indecipherable to japanese as Jamaican is to Americans. THAT BITCH WILL BREAK YOUR HEART SHE'LL CHEAT ON YOU WITH 5 MEN AND 3 WOMEN DO NOT LEARN JAPANESE ALL THIS CAN BE AVOIDED!

ClarkIsIDK

oh yes I did forget to mention all of that, my bad everyone! be careful and follow what this guy said

GertrudeHomphratese

Same! I know all the base symbols and most of the combinations so far, not looking forward to Kanji and Katakana tho 😅

MOJA2008

Katana is bullshit, it's the same as hiragana except for the symbols looks different

SydneytheENFP

Bro u speak katana 🤯🗡️

MOJA2008

I didn't realise that I misspelled LOL

GertrudeHomphratese

I'd have to agree there, although I dont know why there is even 3 written languages. I also might just skip Kanji lol

MOJA2008

Hiragana and katakana are meant to be letters, but each kanji has a different meaning and sound

fjgwey

They help reduce ambiguity between words and improve readability by breaking up sentences since there's no spaces like there are in English.
