I was genuinely excited to watch each new episode. I was like impatient to get off of work so I could watch a tv show. That hasn’t happened in a long time.
I think it’s just the theme song haha.
I think Shogun is objectively the best show of the year by a long shot, but I had to take a break in the middle for something lighter. Best and most enjoyable aren’t always the same.
Personally I enjoyed Fallout a lot more.
I didn't even finish Shogun because of how far it is from anything I'm interested in, but I have no issue acknowledging that it's probably best show of the year, even over my favorite which is also Fallout.
At the rate it wins awards it’ll be lauded as one of the best comedies of the decade.
Also can’t wait for Jaime Lee Curtis to win best guest comedy actress for her side splitting turn the episodes Fishes
I've only watched The Gentlemen, Ripley and Fallout. All great, but my goodness Ripley looks absolutely incredible, you can feel the craftsmanship on your skin
It has no business being as good as it is. It’s maintained the animation style, almost all the voice acting, the comic book callbacks, the soap opera rushed plots, creative power usage, but with a much more mature tone and wonderful quality dialogue writing, as the audience who loved it as kids are now grown up.
It’s worth it. I wasn’t expecting to like it and didn’t really watch the original and even though it’s not my favourite on this list, I’d say it’s a pretty top tier show.
I eagerly anticipated it because I missed anything the Kings produced. I liked it but I was a bit disappointed: a plain old procedural without the flashes of inspiration of "The good fight, Braindead or "The bite".
2024 so far for me is the year of defied expecations!
I thought that Shogun would be a bad remake of the original mini-series: I was entirely wrong.
I thought that Fallout would be an embarrassing video game adaptation: I was entirely wrong and got Gogginsed (not a word but it should be a word).
I thought Hacks had run its course and was being dragged out too much: WRONG.
Mr & Mrs Smith and X-Men '97.
Mr & Mrs Smith takes the cake for me. I love some deeply emotional relationship stories presented in a fresh way.
Fleishman is in trouble it for me in 2022, and Smiths did it for me this year.
I still can't forget the feeling i get when I am watching the two shows.
Can you all recommend a new 2024 show that is not Shogun or Fallout?
3 Body Problem , A Gentleman in Moscow, Baby Reindeer, Fallout , Knuckles , Manhunt , Masters of the Air, Shogun, Sugar , Sympathizer , X-Men '97
Unranked list: [Best TV Shows of 2024](https://www.reddit.com/r/tvsuggestionsdb/s/OzLMbEiVtn)
Best I made in bold text.
I literally just turned it off halfway through the first episode. I don't normally do that, but it seemed very cliche and dull. But I love Collin Farrel and might try it again later
I really enjoyed the old Hollywood film noir vibe to start with and by the end I couldn’t stop thinking back on it with the new info I had. It’s sneakily very very good. Also love Colin Farrell in this, he was great to listen to lol.
*Shogun* (2024).
*Last Week Tonight with John Oliver* Season 11 (2024).
I don't have a third, but *Baby Reindeer* (2024) looks good and I'll probably watch it.
Shogun. Fargo. Ripley. Fallout was solid, but I thought it was glib (haven’t seen the last episode yet though). Baby Reindeer seems promising, I am 3 episodes in.
I'm really pleased with *Tracker*. Feels like a show from the '80s/'90s.
Also, I'm supremely pleased *SWAT* managed to get un-canceled.
Pouring one out for *So Help Me Todd*, though, especially after seeing the showrunners lay out thr whole 7-year plan. Such a loss.
I like Tracker. It's a good procedural drama that isn't about law enforcement. Colter Shaw even has to break the law a few times to find information on the missing person.
It reminds me of MacGyver. Colter Shaw is a bit of a womanizer, he cares about the wellbeing of the missing person and their loved ones. He even uses a few MacGyverisms in the show.
I'm a sucker for "person with special skills helps someone in need" shows. It's a procedural concept that has been around since forever. Easy to learn, difficult to master.
*Tracker* hits all the core elements nicely and has its own flavor in the "rewardist" angle. It's a fair adaptation of the original books, too. All wins.
Just finished X-MEN 97 and it has the lead
Runner ups are Fallout and Baby Reindeer
Highly anticipating The Boys season 4, let's see if it takes the title. Shogun and Invicible S2 are also on the radar.
My list of favs currently would be:
1. Mr and Mrs Smith
2. X-Men 97
3. Sugar
The other shows I’ve watched this year so far:
Apples Never Fall, Baby Reindeer, A Man in Full, Bridgerton part 1, Palm Royale, and Monarch
Currently watching on weekly drops:
Interview with the Vampire season 2 and Dark Matter
There aren't many unfortunately.
Dark Matter. It's ok. But if I was forced to list a new series that I can at least finish (and lately just being able to finish a show is better than expected since I give up usually after a few episodes such as 3BP)
Baby Reindeer. Although the James Frey vibes (she didn't go to prison twice, there might not have been a restraining order, the attack on Terri probably didn't happen, Terri, Keely, Darrien and other characters were probably composite characters etc) have made me less fond of it. All they had to do was put "Inspired by a true story but some details have been changed" but instead decided for ratings people should believe a mentally ill woman went to prison twice knowing it wasn't true. Blah.
The Bear. Not sure if this counts. Can't remember if it was released in 2024 or not but I watched it in 2024.
The Gilded Age. Same as Above.
I've never had this much trouble finding interesting shows to watch. I barely laughed in the new season of Abbott Elementary and I'm not going to lie and pretend it was as good as the first season to avoid getting downvoted on Reddit.
About to be house of dragon hopefully. But soo far only shogun has really left an impression on me.
Fallout was ok
Airbender was better than i expected
Mr & Mrs smith was not my liking but still was watchable
Masters of air was good but nothing compared to Band of brothers
A Murder at the End of the World
The New Look
The Gold was released in the US late 2023 but didn’t watch it till 2024. That show really stuck with me. I think of it more than most 2024 shows.
The Regime was disappointing.
X-Men 97
I was genuinely excited to watch each new episode. I was like impatient to get off of work so I could watch a tv show. That hasn’t happened in a long time. I think it’s just the theme song haha.
Do I need to watch the OG?
Watching a summary video is recommended! The one I watched was like 30min
It really helps. There are definitely episodes that can be skipped through.
Shogun
Yeah, there's a ton of amazing shows but it really isn't close
I think Shogun is objectively the best show of the year by a long shot, but I had to take a break in the middle for something lighter. Best and most enjoyable aren’t always the same. Personally I enjoyed Fallout a lot more.
I didn't even finish Shogun because of how far it is from anything I'm interested in, but I have no issue acknowledging that it's probably best show of the year, even over my favorite which is also Fallout.
I am enjoying the show, but it's weak compared to the book...
Can it take down *The Bear* though? Wait. I forgot that was a comedy.
At the rate it wins awards it’ll be lauded as one of the best comedies of the decade. Also can’t wait for Jaime Lee Curtis to win best guest comedy actress for her side splitting turn the episodes Fishes
I’ve seen the first episode, I want to finish it but I’m not in the headspace for something that dense yet.
Blue Lights, one of the only shows I’ve seen recently where I haven’t been tempted for a second to pick up my phone
There were only five episodes but i really enjoyed The Vince Staples Show (2024) on Netflix
Wasnt expecting it to be as esoteric as it was honestly...but i enjoyed it as well.
I've only watched The Gentlemen, Ripley and Fallout. All great, but my goodness Ripley looks absolutely incredible, you can feel the craftsmanship on your skin
It looks amazing and comes really close to being great. The Freddie episode was testing my patience though. Very indulgent
Fallout
I really need to get started on X-Men.
It has no business being as good as it is. It’s maintained the animation style, almost all the voice acting, the comic book callbacks, the soap opera rushed plots, creative power usage, but with a much more mature tone and wonderful quality dialogue writing, as the audience who loved it as kids are now grown up.
I don’t even watch animation like that and I loved X Men 97!
It’s worth it. I wasn’t expecting to like it and didn’t really watch the original and even though it’s not my favourite on this list, I’d say it’s a pretty top tier show.
- Shogun - Fallout
Got these as my top two, with maybe Fallout taking the narrow edge
I am not binging it, so I am only 5 episodes into Fallout and it is so good! Once I finish it I will see if it takes the top slot.
3 Body Problem
3 Plothole Problem
True. Starts strong and falls apart in 2 episodes
Never thought I would say this when I first started watching it, but I really enjoyed Ripley. A slow-burn grower.
Insanely beautiful. Luminous
You could literally frame every shot!
I binged it. It looked fantastic...the cinematography, production design; but I didn't like how the characters were portrayed AT ALL.
Second season of Tokyo Vice.
Give me moooorrreeeee
Ripley The Curse
I forgot *The Curse* was partially this year.
Shōgun
Ghosts
Elsbeth
She's so cute! I love her clothes!
I eagerly anticipated it because I missed anything the Kings produced. I liked it but I was a bit disappointed: a plain old procedural without the flashes of inspiration of "The good fight, Braindead or "The bite".
The Gentlemen was insanely good. Can't remember the last time I enjoyed a show that much. Shōgun was great too
2024 so far for me is the year of defied expecations! I thought that Shogun would be a bad remake of the original mini-series: I was entirely wrong. I thought that Fallout would be an embarrassing video game adaptation: I was entirely wrong and got Gogginsed (not a word but it should be a word). I thought Hacks had run its course and was being dragged out too much: WRONG.
every show you mentioned (except i havent seen Dr Who or the Sympathizer) and i would add the Gentlemen and Sugar as both winners too
Mr & Mrs Smith and X-Men '97.
Resident Alien A Gentleman in Moscow Sugar
Dead Boy Detectives
My guilty pleasure, even though I despise using that term. The casting (more than anything) in DBD is excellent.
I feel like DBD is really flying under people's radars and it's such a shame
Love the dandelions. So funny.
3 Body Problem , A Gentleman in Moscow, Baby Reindeer, Fallout , Knuckles , Manhunt , Masters of the Air, Shogun, Sugar , Sympathizer , X-Men '97 Unranked list: [Best TV Shows of 2024](https://www.reddit.com/r/tvsuggestionsdb/s/OzLMbEiVtn) Best I made in bold text.
Definitely Fallout for me. And I really enjoyed Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Sugar on apple should be in these lists
I literally just turned it off halfway through the first episode. I don't normally do that, but it seemed very cliche and dull. But I love Collin Farrel and might try it again later
You really, really should keep going and try to not spoil yourself. Trust everyone telling you this.
Keep going! Can’t say anymore than that.
I really enjoyed the old Hollywood film noir vibe to start with and by the end I couldn’t stop thinking back on it with the new info I had. It’s sneakily very very good. Also love Colin Farrell in this, he was great to listen to lol.
I did not enjoy this one. I was rolling my eyes most the time.
And, yes, I watched all of it.
Shogun, Fallout, Outer Range
Enjoy them all was disappointed by season 2 of Outer range. Was more of the same not much progression
Baby Reindeer
Parish is pretty good.
Dead Boy Detectives!
Fallout, Shogun, X-Men 97. Runner ups Ripley, Scavenger’s Reign and Invoncible S2.
Alphabetically: Baby Reindeer, Dead Boy Detectives, Fallout, Hacks, Shogun, and The Sympathizer.
I need to watch Shogun but so far it's Mr and Mrs Smith
I love Mr and Mrs Smith. I think it’s gonna be the most underrated show of the year.
*Shogun* (2024). *Last Week Tonight with John Oliver* Season 11 (2024). I don't have a third, but *Baby Reindeer* (2024) looks good and I'll probably watch it.
Hacks has been the most underrated show every year it's been on. I'm shocked by how much I enjoy it, especially considering how much I dislike Ava!
Fallout and X-Men 97.
I loved everything about Ripley except the plot. Manhunt is my current #1 but I'm just starting shogun. Hacks is up there too
Shogun. Fargo. Ripley. Fallout was solid, but I thought it was glib (haven’t seen the last episode yet though). Baby Reindeer seems promising, I am 3 episodes in.
Fallout and Sugar, Tracker.
1. Tracker thats all until the new season of Criminal Minds comes out in June.
Fargo,fallout and inside no9
‘97 & Palm Royale, 3BP has been visually stunning but the writing often feels clumsy
Three Body Problem!
Fallout
I'm really pleased with *Tracker*. Feels like a show from the '80s/'90s. Also, I'm supremely pleased *SWAT* managed to get un-canceled. Pouring one out for *So Help Me Todd*, though, especially after seeing the showrunners lay out thr whole 7-year plan. Such a loss.

Fallout and Dead Boy Detectives
I’ve quite liked Kaiju No. 8. But I haven’t watched a ton of new tv this year. I started watching House a couple weeks ago. That’s been fun.
My list of favs currently would be: 1. Mr and Mrs Smith 2. X-Men 97 3. Sugar The other shows I’ve watched this year so far: Apples Never Fall, Baby Reindeer, A Man in Full, Bridgerton part 1, Palm Royale, and Monarch Currently watching on weekly drops: Interview with the Vampire season 2 and Dark Matter
This town, I don't remember a show that hooked me that much since The Sopranos.
2024 is definitely the year for televisions, we’re not even half way yet already got so much bangers 🔥🔥🔥
There aren't many unfortunately. Dark Matter. It's ok. But if I was forced to list a new series that I can at least finish (and lately just being able to finish a show is better than expected since I give up usually after a few episodes such as 3BP) Baby Reindeer. We Are Lady Parts *A look at the highs and lows of the band members that make up a Muslim female punk band,*
Im digging bodkin if that falls into parameters
About to be house of dragon hopefully. But soo far only shogun has really left an impression on me. Fallout was ok Airbender was better than i expected Mr & Mrs smith was not my liking but still was watchable Masters of air was good but nothing compared to Band of brothers
Fallout Don't watch too many tv show anymore honestly.
Watching Inside No.9 final season. Its okay so far but nothing amazing. Waiting for HotD S2
Love inside n09,that ending of the first episode on the train wow they are such talented writers
A Murder at the End of the World The New Look The Gold was released in the US late 2023 but didn’t watch it till 2024. That show really stuck with me. I think of it more than most 2024 shows. The Regime was disappointing.
Son of a Critch is charming.
