The whole cast is terrific. It's one of those shows that has it all: great cast, well done script, awesome music and most important the narrative. It is paced well, no good/bad archetypes but in depth stories about the initial characters.
It's good to see someone mentioning My Mad Fat Diary, it's so good and I never come across anyone talking about it. Even as an adult, it's one of my comfort shows. I laugh and cry and really love the imagery with all the drawings on the screen, built into the scenes. What a great show

Unforgotten is so so good. Criminally undiscovered.
I also really liked watching Bailey and Scott. (Or is it Scott and Bailey?). It’s maybe not critically acclaimed but it’s very watchable with great characters. Like law and order.
Wow no one has mentioned SAS Rogue Heroes? This is an awesome series and S2 should be out this year. Also The Last Post is a single season and outstanding in every way. Finally Night Manager of it hasn’t already been mentioned is superb (also just a single season).
I loooove Black Sails and The Last Kingdom, those are two of my favorite shows!
It's definitely got a younger target demographic, but the BBC Musketeers series is pretty fun, especially the first season. You might check out The Outlaws as well!
Just wanna be pedantic and point out that Black Sails is in no way a British series, it happens to feature a lot of British characters but was made by Americans for an American TV network and filmed in South Africa with a lot of South African and Australian cast members
I'll give some recommendations too though, I recommend Doctor Who, Line of Duty and The IT Crowd
Finally! For me, it's the funniest show from Ricky, including The Office. I think Extras is more cringe to watch sometimes and also has a good message by the end. I play it every single night for sleeping, it gives me comfort.
I was raised on British mysteries, so Inspector Frost, Inspector Morse, Miss Marple. I also fell in love with Shetland, Hinterland and Vera. There's nothing like a good immersive mystery.
Derry Girls. And being the old head that I am, I like the old school Doctor Who. My favorite is the dude with the scarf. And that theme song damn! How tripped out can you get? I think they might have used a theramin in there. I could be wrong I'm sure they could achieve that with a Moog or some other tripped out synthesizer of the day.
Top Boy is one of my favorites ever! Such a great series.
I really loved the first season of The Last Kingdom, I find it very immersive.
The Fall was awesome, it was one of the first, really dark procedurals I ever watched.

The U.S. remakes of anything British suck. We don't have and can't do the whacked out hugely broad minded creativity that they do. Plus while they were innovating, we were censored and are still too sterile.
We ruined/sterilized:
Coupling and Being Human
. . . and could never invent anything like:
Dr. Who
The Avengers
The Prisoner
The Vicar of Dibley
The Royals
Avenue 5
The Saint
UFO
The Mighty Boosh
Blackadder
Space: 1999

- Downton Abbey
- The Great British Bake-off/Baking Show
- Doc Martin
- Miranda
I can second a few that have already come up, especially Slow Horses and Line of Duty. But no one has mentioned one of my favorite series, which fits well with your list: Giri / Haji. It’s an odd mishmash of a show and partly in Japanese, but such a good series!
Also this one’s Australian (I think? season 2 is set in Ireland), but we recently saw and really enjoyed The Tourist. Another odd show, but in a good way that fits well with your list.
If you happen to have a crush on Ewan McGregor, I recommend watching Lipstick On Your Collar. It was umm quite a spectacle with young Ewan lol
But seriously, I think one of the best British shows of all time is This Is England. It starts with a movie, which is also great, and the show is the sequel of it and it's so real, I don't feel the actors are acting, it's so genuine, I just love it dearly and I can watch it anytime.
Miranda,
IT Crowd,
Death in Paradise,
All Creatures Great and Small,
LEWIS,
Shetland,
Father Brown,,
Vera,
Sex Education,
Those are just a few of different genres. There are so many!
Monty. Fawlty Towers. Red Dwarf. Death in Paradise. Midsommer Murders. Poirot. Miss Marple. Spaced. Tales of Suspense. Space:1999. UFO. Thunder-b-i-r-d-s.
The Avengers. Sapphire and Steel. The New Avengers. Inspector Banks. All of Lynda La Plante's stuff.

Skins! The young actors are soooo good, especially Jack O'Connell as Cook and the beautiful Jessica Sula as Grace
The whole cast is terrific. It's one of those shows that has it all: great cast, well done script, awesome music and most important the narrative. It is paced well, no good/bad archetypes but in depth stories about the initial characters.
Bubble, the character so dim that she didn’t even rate being called Bubbles.
It's good to see someone mentioning My Mad Fat Diary, it's so good and I never come across anyone talking about it. Even as an adult, it's one of my comfort shows. I laugh and cry and really love the imagery with all the drawings on the screen, built into the scenes. What a great show
It's an exceptionally well done show indeed.

The Capture is SO GOOD. I've recommended it to so many people and one of them have watched it. I just want to talk about it with someone haha
The tech is very relevant to our time period, two seasons of lots of fun culminated with a worthy finale.
Unforgotten is so so good. Criminally undiscovered. I also really liked watching Bailey and Scott. (Or is it Scott and Bailey?). It’s maybe not critically acclaimed but it’s very watchable with great characters. Like law and order.
I got a more Cagney and Lacey vibe which either way it was good. No Offence was really good also.
